Hello All, I just realized my "Active Stabilization" conundrum from my past experiences. Recently when I utilized my Sony ZV-E10 in the last couple of months, I was recording in 1080P/60 with 1/125 Shutter Speed! That explains why the "Active Stabilization" looks much better than the 4K/24 with 1/50 Shutter Speed. I'm interested in Tim Brown's suggestion on upping the Shutter Speed on the 4K/24 and see if that helps!

I tried it after seeing your comment 1080p60fps 1/125 shutter speed is better than 4k24fps 1/125 shutter speed. It may be because of the better rolling shutter at 1080p than 4k in ZVE10

Ayee! Thanks for the shout! I'm not only a fellow KZbinr and friend, but I'm also a fan of your work and channel! I commented earlier but realized I didn't see a response so maybe it got caught up for review or something for some reason. I did a couple of videos concerning different stabilization techniques for the ZV-E10 on my channel. I think any digital stab can't correct when there is motion blur so I tried it with Active stab and whala! Much better! I'm curious if it was the 1080 or the 60fps that helped yours out earlier because technically you'd still get motion blur at 60fps with 1/125 shutter speed. The ZV-E10 has much less rolling shutter at 1080 so maybe that had something to do with it? Nevertheless, I think increasing the shutter speed for any digital stab is necessary. I don't notice the lack of motion blur unless there's a lot of movement in the shot, which you typically don't get when vlogging. 😄

Oh no, sorry the comment didn't go through...that's happened to me too. But yeah, thanks Tim and of course I really enjoy your channel so wanted to do a shoutout for sure! I'm looking forward to bumping up the shutter speed on "Active Stabilization" and give it a try. While I love the gimbal, I like the thought of just having the camera body in a pinch if I want to get some smooth video shots on the go. Yeah, the 1080P 1/125 shutter probably looks better just because of the ramp up of the shutter and less rolling shutter combined. Good point on the lack of motion blur. Quite honestly, I'm not hindered by the lack of motion blur too much. I think for the more professional people, it can be a stumbling block. But for "vlogging"...it's more about the content 😀

That shutter speed trick works pretty good for handheld b-roll or interview stuff, but any kind of walking still isnt great.

Really not a bad option using catalyst browse. I tried both the catalyst browse and gimbal in recent videos and I'm quite impressed.

Thanks Antonio! Yeah, it sure is a nuisance to do the extra steps with Catalyst Browse. Too bad Final Cut does not have it integrated like Premiere Pro.

Really good point. For this test, I wasn’t going through any differing lighting situations so there was no need to have auto iso 😂 I’m used to having the vlogging mindset where I’m walking around and encountering changing light and shadows.

I am kinda curious what it looks like with no stabilization, as the Active doesn't seem like it is really good - is it much worse without it. Either way, pretty epic that you can use Catalyst and get awesome footage on APS-C without the Gimbal!

Hi Brian, yeah…the footage without active stabilization and not utilizing Catalyst is basically unusable. But it is nice that Sony utilizes gyroscopic data for sure!

@@TravelingAhn ah that explains why its so smooth without a heavy crop compared to using other random stabilization - I tried stabilizing footage from Olympus camera in Davinci and the crop was pretty extreme and still no where as smooth!

So Olympus doesn’t have gyroscopic data I assume. I guess that’s one advantage Sony can boast.
