Hi, thanks for this. Just watched your comparison video on a quality 55" LCD TV, and I could got it wrong a few times. Maybe 1080 is the way to go unless you are wanting to grab screen shots etc.

what i did notice is that pocket 3 video ha perfect horizon, while action 5 is leaning on left or right. And pocket 3 quality is really better! am i right?

I feel like a big reason why the Action 5 Pro looks so much better in DLOG is because it drops the entire sharpening effect - it's also why the face is clearer to see compared to the background. With the regular mode sharpening the background gets too sharp and distracting.

I'm looking for a vlogging camera thats cheaper than the Osmo Pocket 3 and I must say that the 130€ price difference between Action 4 and 5 Pro is not really worth it. Guess I'll go with Action 4 for 230€.

My English is very poor, so I use Google Translate OA5 is a sports camera in the second half of this video^^ I also tested the image quality and without using RS, this camera produces the clearest images. This is also why some people recommend turning off RS when using Gimbal. If Hohem adds AI auto-follow to Pro 5 in the future, I will buy it.

The Action 4 trumps the Action 5 - better image quality and just feels more smoother in my opinion - I own both by the way!

Great tests again, I think the -1 ev was to much as well, -0.3 and less iso I think would be the sweet spot for the p3, the A5 with gimbal is looking good but without gimbal I’d still be grabbing the p3, I preferred the dlog on all cameras then normal but HLG on p3 was nice as well, cooler tone gave the street more of a cinematic look, Cheers

In regards to your subway safety question; America will not engage in providing safety measures when there is no profit AND there is no criminal liability for which to be sued. If subway platforms were collapsing and killing people, and they were getting successfully sued for that -they'd definitely fix them. But the municipality is not liable for crazy people/ criminals doing their thing and hurting other people. It's pretty much "every man for himself" here, as we say.

That's so odd that D-Log M on the Action 5 exposes for the face but it's the opposite on the Pocket 3. Definitely digging the Black Mist. I haven't used mine in a while... Hey, do you do cardio or do you primarily do weights? I've done both all my life but now having knee issues and I'm wondering if I should just focus harder on my diet and add some lifting time in place of it.

Normal been better on the OP3. Some of us get too caught in aesthetics. Prioritizing the face is always more important. Just like the story and audio of a video is more important than picture quality.

Hi. Happy New Year! In Action 5, in cloudy weather when shooting in D-log M (shooting the environment on foot) there are jumps in brightness and a vignette appears. Can you comment on this? The DJI forum is going crazy about this.

Man p3 is blowing out all those lights/signs so badly 😢 would love to see this exact test but with the addition of dlog m and exposure down a notch, the a5 looking awesome but would have been better without the gimbal to get a realistic view of what most people would get, would it get micro jitters in low light without a gimbal that would have been good to see from the comparison

6:14 the focus on the dji is a bit soft on the face

Why are you shooting at 1/120 shutter speed? The rule of thumb is to set your shutter speed at double the frame rate, which would be at 1/60 second. This will improve the light gathering capability of the sensor. Between using a gimbal and an incorrect shutter speed, the comparison is useless. By using 1/60 shutter speed, the ISO will drop in half, giving a better dynamic range to the sensor and providing a much better image. This rule was set in stone 100 years ago and is used in cinema movie production around the world.

The action 4 appears to have better contrast… more natural looking… the action 5 looks a little fake .. plastic … I’m thinking of getting the insta ace pro 2 or the action 4 … not sure yet 😊best wishes from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🎉

To me, based on this comparisons, On the Normal Color Profile, they show their difference in use-case. The action 5 pro exposes the background first/better, which is should since it is an action cam, while the pocket 3 exposes the face first/better since it is a vlogging camera. If a user will just be using the cameras, on normal color profile then pick the action cam for action, the pocket for vlogging. When it comes to DLOG M, I think both cameras adjust the footage to priorities both foreground and background equally hence a bit more exposure on the face on the action 5 and a bit more exposure on the background on the pocket 3. This, I thinks is due to the logic that the user will make a custom color grade on the footage and for the flexibility it makes. Having said tho, in the normal color profile, the lowlight footage on the action 5 even if it is on 6400 iso lacks compared to the pocket 3 on 3200 iso as seen in 3:54. But in the dlog m, action 5 is better in exposing the face compared to the pocket 3. It might be the reason why there is no d-log m on the low-light mode in the Pocket 3. It can't process the dlog-m footage and expose to the face at the same time. One question tho. Would there be any differences if the ISO for both cameras are locked at a certain value of ISO instead of it being variable? It makes it a bit more fairer since both are having the same in all the settings and the main differences would be the sensor size and software. Thanks for these great comparisons!
