Yong Mei the only reason I love IPS is that it just last longer than OLED. Now don’t get me wrong, the OLED display is incredible and face-punchy but after experiencing burn-in on my Samsung s6edge, I was traumatized. indeed IPS is the better screen (in my opinion)

Been using it for a week now, excellent performance like camera, cpu, dual speakers, battery and the ips display. Have been using u11, s8, note 8, this phone surpassed them with minimal compromise!

I used to have a Galaxy Note with OLED display and now I switched to Mate 10 with LCD and No problems at all. I actually love the colors more, looks more natural and more comfortable to look at.

I am beginning to like the Mate 10 especially for the camera and video. In video shooting can I pause the shoot and resume it after a minute or so and be able to see the whole video smoothly? I am able to pause 2-3 times in the old model and still be able to see the video smoothly. thanks

Great review Basil. For me the M10 is a 10 for me. LCD = no Pixel 2 XL,V30 horror stories. Desktop mode completely destroys Dex mode. No lag at all in a game that I play in DT mode. My M9 would have lite studder when I played it. The off-screen navigation button is ingenious. Huawei did a great job implementing that. Earlier you said the M10 was a touch slower in storage and ram speeds. But my ALP-AL00 6gb benches higher than any BLA I've seen on the benchmarks. Would be nice if Huawei brought all models everywhere so we could choose what was right for our needs. The ones giving you smack have no idea how good the M10 series is. I'll have this one in my pocket for a few years.

Jonasch97 The ALP-L29 should have the play store installed on it. If not grab an apk. Giztop is where I purchased mine and they already had PS installed. All the Chinese was on it too so took a little bit to delete,disable or hide that. Some things may still be missing but for me I'm happy with it. Grab the 6gb if you can. I don't think 4 is enough now if you do gaming. I think WondaMobile? in the UK has it ready to go. Check XDA posts on where to buy one.

Jonasch97 6gb+ nowadays. Look at that new Razer phone 8gb!!! Unreal!!! On my 6gb with Oreo I have 3gb free so on 4gb you'd be weak. There has to be someone that will ship an L29 6gb to you. If not the PRO will be a great device. Just too many problems for me with OLED. Yes LCD can't touch em but my Note 4 and my S8+ severe burn-in within a month. Once there you never forget. Hell learn Chinese and get the Al00. That rom runs a little faster than the 29.

Really Good review! I just miss a couple of details on how it works as a phone before ordering one. 1. how is the vibration motor if you have the phone on mute in your pocket? Is it strong enough? 2. How is the mobile signal reception quality? Is the antenna better or worse than average phones? 3. How is the audio quality of the headphone jack? My main reason to buy this phone instead of one of the other flagships is the headphone jack. Thank you for some high quality reviews! You have become my new goto place for phone reviews!

John Lagasca From the three minutes I was playing with it in a shopping mall, it seems to overexpose to hide facial imperfections. If you want true-to-life selfies without any cosmetic compensation, I think the Pixel 2 and Sony XZ1 are two of the best choices.

Austin Kelly I dont see a rardware related reason why the Mate 10 should have less battery life than the Mate 9 so I assume it still has the old firmware bug of the Mate 10 Pro that made Google play service using 1 core constantly.

Can you do a speaker comparison between the Huawei Mate 10 (Pro) and the HTC U11 (or +)? I can't decide between those two phones. For me, the speakers and screen are most important. The screen of the mate 10 pro is better than that of the HTC u11(+), but I think the speakers on the U11 or much better than those on the mate 10 (pro).

Got mate 10 the 2nd day they were out in China. over these months using. the phone getting faster coz of the AI chip is learning and connecting. camera is great. the battery can beat any other phones on the market. OK. no phone is perfect. which one is ? used 9 years iphone. then jumped to huawei mate 9. now i even can't look at iphone anymore. M 10 is a real great phone to buy to use from my real experience.

The problem with Huawei isn't the phones, they are awesome, I loved my Mate 8 and still love my Mate 9 but the problem is service. I travel a lot for work and unlike Samsung and Apple who have service centers in all corners of the globe it is extremely hard to get service for Huawei in most places in the world and even in many States in the US. It is a sad disappointment for me because I actually really like the devices but I probably won't buy another because when things do go wrong there just isn't any service. I'm currently working in Hanoi and their is a service center here but they told me they won't service my Mate 9 because they don't sell that specific model in Vietnam. Super lame. The girl in the shop actually told me to fly to Taiwan to get service. That was her actual suggestion. Even after I offered to pay for the shipment of the needed parts and service from China to Vietnam, (literal neighbors), she still said she wouldn't help and I should fly to Taiwan or Hong Kong. For that cost I can just buy a new phone, likely not a Huawei unfortunately.

Arif Sami sammys phones have been alright by me , still have my note 2 that works fine , still have and use my note 4 that works perfectly and still has a better screen than 95 % of the phones on the market today , the very same note4 that i had mounted on my mountain bike until the phone holder broke and sent my note 4 cart wheeling down the ashfelt at 17 kph , it has some battle scars but still works like a champ . as for your durability claim against the note 8 , stick the mate in 1.5 metres of water for a half hour and see how it goes .
