I'd never heard of Mazzy Star before I met my girlfriend in the early 2000s. She introduced me to this music and I was stunned. I fell in love twice that year. My girlfriend was tragically killed while riding her motorcycle shortly after we'd moved in together. Hope's voice helped me navigate the sadness of life and loss. I still listen to fade into you and into dust often. Hope's vocals always take me back to a magical summer of overly vivid colors that included emerald green eyes and auburn waterfall curls. I'll always appreciate the gentle delivery and intelligent lyrics from this talented artist.

Yep, music can be a great healer. A week prior to Ian Curtis death my younger brother aged 14 got killed in a car crash as a passenger. Joy Division would help me a lot to overcome my sadness and misery. And yes, Hope is such a wonderful artist, fairy like.

I graduated high school in 1991. One show in 1991: Jane's Addiction, Siousxie and the Banshees, Living Colour, NIN, Ice Tea and Body Count, Butthole Surfers, Rollins Band, Violent Femmes, Fishbone. Next year, one show in 1992: Soundgarden, RHCPeppers, Mazzy Star, Jesus and Mary Chain, Ministry, Pearl Jam, Lush, Porno for Pyros, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, House of Pain, Stone Temple Pilots, and maybe ten more acts. It was a very lucky thing to get to experience that much great music when those bands were at their peaks.

Lana Del Rey is my favorite artist. I have never found another artist that makes me feel the way she does. The type of music that makes you close your eyes and drift off into a heavenly state of nostalgia. I just found Hope Sandoval's music and I can't stop listening. She has the same effect on me as Lana, I can tell Lana has gotten inspiration from her. Both of their voices trap me into their beautiful sadness, and its hard to stop listening.
