A question about the spaced pair stereo recording: if the diagonal is not 1.60 m, but 2.00 m, is this changing all other distances in proportionate way (height from the strings and distance between stereo pair)? A second question: where exactly does the left hand side frame support of the piano begins?

Hi , Yes you need to work in proportion to the distances. The frame support is inside the case , not including the case. Try to imagine your recording the Harp of the piano ..

Your close-mic technique sounds marvelous. However, the action on the piano is very quiet. On a piano with action or damper noise, close miking can be a problem.
