Okay here is a interesting overlap of roles. Maurice Evans plays Samantha's father thus he is a witch. The show ran from 1964 to 1971. In 1968 He also played Hutch a close friend of Rosemary Woodhouse in "Rosemary's Baby". In that film a coven of witches causes his characters death. He also went on to play Dr Zaius in "Planet of the apes" in 1968 as well. He even played a villian on the Batman TV show in 1966. He was all over the place character wise in the 1960,s.

Endora and the original Gladys Kravtiz were my favorite characters on Bewitched. I loved the guest appearance of Aunts Agatha and Enchantra. There were some powerful Witches and I am surprised he outwitted Endora and the girls. Endora was ahead of the times back then because she didn't let a man treat her as a housewife or servant.

Samantha did not - as I recall quite clearly - "create" a spell to rescue Tabitha. She simply blew the whistle Maurice gave her at the beginning of the episode in order to summon him.

First episode: Tabitha was so cute! Loved Endora's dress. But why did the other 2 witches look like that? If I had their powers I'd be looking young and beautiful, not old and sour like those two! Maurice is so cool. He's one of my favorite characters on the show. Endora and those old hags were way out of line trying to take Tabitha, for once I agreed with Dur-wood. Second episode: There's an inconsistency here. Samantha could've put a spell on Larry and Louise to cause them to want to stay and be alright without seeing their son for a while. And there was a time when Serena turned Mrs. Stevens into a cat and Samantha didn't know which cat she was (at the neighbor's house who had many cats) and she turned all the other cats into dogs so she could learn which one was Mrs. Stevens. She could do something like that to figure out which boy was Jonathan.
