And why do people tolerate the begging of elephants on the streets? They know the elephants are captive and abused.
@cookiecutter3445 жыл бұрын
@@witty_net it plays on our compassion for the elephant. When they are walking a thin beaten down ele, and ask for spare change and he will feed it one of the chunks of sugar cane, it is hard not to. Our guide told us, the poor ele knows if she eats it, instead of tucking it into her cheek, she will be beaten and hurt bad. It is so the food can be removed and resold to another tourist. Going through phajaan as a baby, instills a fear of intense pain and torture, they submit. The bullhook has a sharp end to pierce their skin, and the mahoot, always has one. Performing elephants in our developed countries experience the breaking of the spirit too. Google a training video of have trunk will travel, they train circus elephants as babies. it will break your heart.

According to the sanctuary, Elephant Nature Park, for the first couple of days, "when she got out of her enclosure she went directly to the river, but now she is taking her time around the property to explore!" They're hoping she'll continue to get better. When I looked it up, I found that the average life expectancy of an elephant is anywhere between 48 years for an Asian elephant and 60-70 years for other elephants so Sook-Jai, at 73-years-old, has outlived her normal lifespan.
@cacatr44957 жыл бұрын
