Love your comment about Matt's deep drop on the word "silence". It's like he just drops you into the deep end of the pool without any warning and then right after that Kirstin comes in and throws you a lifeline to grab onto, then you think your safe but then Scott comes in and delivers a wallop of a punch that puts you right back into the deep end and they leave you to swim your way back to safety by yourself.

I describe the 3 versions of this song as follows: The original by Simon & Garfunkel is the warning that technology may be leading us down a path and we need to be careful. PTX version is the dire warning that we are falling prey to our worst attributes but there is still time to fix things if we just try hard enough. The Disturbed version is the post apocalyptic dirge reminding us of all that we lost when we failed to find our way.

OUTSTANDING! That is almost exactly the same description I have given to the three versions. S&G was the warning, Disturbed was the anger that the warning wasn't heeded, and PTX was the hope that the warning may still be heard. All in all, I'm sure that Paul Simon is very proud of his creation.

Especially if you add in their side projects Superfruit (Scott and Mitch), Kirstin (solo EP and channel), Kevin Olusola (personal channel), and Avi Kaplan's solo work. They have also done a couple of collabs with Toddrick Hall that are awesome.

I saw on a comment on another reaction video that this particular person had calculated: if you watch one PTX video a week, not including all the inevitable new releases along the way, it would take you OVER THREE YEARS to get through them all ... A good starting point with Avi's solo music is Change on the Rise. it's amazing, and he creates pretty much all the sounds in it with layering tracks (listen for the REALLY low backing vocals that he does)

This version is WAY closer to the original sound and feel ...and what it's meant to sound like (I did love Disturbed's version BUT it's not supposed to be so dark.. that took away from the original meaning of the song) Speaking of Lion King... their cover of CAN YOU HEAR THE LOVE TONIGHT is phenomenal!

When people tend to discount or denigrate an artist or group because they do a "cover", it really drives me crazy. The reason being that, many if not most artists don't write their own songs. So, in essence, they are all doing covers. The true test is what each artist brings to the performance that make it unique and the talent that requires. Oftentimes, songwriters are not even performers because they do not possess that talent either vocally or musically. I have known several that fall into that category that are able to write incredible lyrics and/or musically structure a melody line, but, they simply don't have the abilities required to perform it. Even if Pentatonix never released a single "original" song, I still would marvel at their ability, like this one, to change the arrangement into something, while similar, completely unique.

I wouldn't exactly consider this one "uplifting" as more "powerful". Especially in the last chorus when they all belted their faces off. PTX are the kings (and queen) of belt.

There are so many videos to choose from! Their Sing Off Performances (acapella TV competition in 2011) Aha! Singapore, Making Christmas, La La Latch, Love Again, and so many more. They were on FBE (REACT/REPLAY) and had a challenge to sing 100 songs in 10 mins. Loved your face on that dissonant chord at the end, on "sound." David Draiman is an incredible vocalist, Art Garfunkel's voice is achingly, heart-breakingly beautiful, and Paul Simon is one of the greatest songwriters of my lifetime--but only Pentatonix does harmonies like that. I read a comment on one of the other reaction videos to this song that was spot on. It said the original Simon and Garfunkel version is melancholy, the Disturbed version is angry, and the Pentatonix version is hopeful. Sums them up perfectly in my opinion!

Hi, new fan here! I recommend checking out Citizen Queen. They're an all-female a capella group who opened for PTX last time they toured. My fave is probably Girl Groups through the ages, but their other songs are great too! Also, if you don't mind a gospel a capella group, try Take 6 or Committed. Committed was on the same show that PTX was on, The Sing Off.

Please adjust the audio level of the performance up to get better balance. Your voice should not be so much louder than the musical performance. Also please keep the performance level constant. Your fans shouldn't have to keep reaching for their volume controls.
