How do you feel the trigger pull? Glock claims the 48 has a lighter trigger pull than the 19, a 7.2 OZ lighter. Is that true? How about the break distance?

Yep, I carry a G48 w/SA Mags and mag release, complete with a Streamlight TLR-6 weapon light for my CCW. All this in a Tulster light bearing IWB holster, and an echo mag carrier, are CCW perfection. Lastly, I swapped out the Glock factory sights for TruGlo TFX's and I really couldn't be happier with this setup.

I lover my G19 3rd Gen gun and I used it as my Duty Weapon for 10 years until my retirement. Having said this, I switched over to the Glock single stack, slim line guns and sold all my double stack Glocks. I found the slim line Glocks much more comfortable in my smaller hands and easier to shoot. I now carry a G43 as my EDC and I also purchased a G48 which I will also use as a concealed handgun. As a glock user for over 20 years, I can say that I will never go back to the double stack models! I now love my two slim line models!

The lack of an accessory rail and the inability to use all my various Glock mags are to big reasons I’ll stick with the 19, etc. The pluses of the 48 just don’t matter as much to me, but it’s still a solid option for many.

Good points. In recognition of this being a 3 year old comment, Glock offers a MOS version of the G48 now. Also, the Recover Tactical Rail for the G48 is an excellent option. It mounts easily and sits ROCK SOLID on the frame (speaking from experience). I mounted it almost a year ago and have not had so much as a wiggle from it, even after thousands of rounds. God bless 👌

The strength in the web of your hand plays a big role in pistol shooting. For someone with medium sized hands like myself, I have to stretch the web of my hand by plying with my thumb in order to allow my index finger to reach the trigger and utilize proper trigger control. While you could train around this, it's a lot of time wasted training when I could just get a pistol that actually fits my grip. No stretching also means that my primary grip will take way longer to fatigue giving me way better shot placement.

I like carrying the Glock G19 and all the options with the magazines. I got a Glock 43X and what I love about it is everything you said. Conceal carrying the G43X now in the summer heat of South Carolina is so much better. I can tell the difference and is so much more comfortable. My brother has the G48 and he loves it! I shot it and it's a Glock. You can't go wrong. We both added Talon grips to his G48 and my G43X and they handle great.

I just got the 48 with a couple S15 mags, I really do like it but when I went to the range with my buddy and his Gen4 19, I couldn't deny I liked the 19 better. I polished all the trigger components and put a set of Night Fision Perfect Dots on the 48, I'll just have to have one or two of each!

Just switched from a g43 to a Gen5 g26. The thicker grip just works better for my hands. Got some Glock factory 12 round mags and carry it with those. Big plus ,as you mentioned, is it will take any 15, 17 or 33 round mags which I already have...don't need to buy a bunch of new expensive mags that won't work in any other Glock models. I find it carries just as easy as the 43 and conceals easily ...

@@remideas3022 I have about 300 rounds through mine. I have shot Federal HST brass, Sig V Crown JHP aluminum, Magtec FMJ brass, Blazer Brass FMJ brass, and Winchester FMJ steel. The only failure I have had is with Winstester steel ammo, these mags don't like to feed steel case ammo, mainly because steel ammo is so rough and doesn't like slide as well as brass and aluminum. I've had this issue with clear ETS magazines as well.

If you are torn between the G19 and the G48, a bit of extra info that may help. Hold each one in your hand with your index finger resting along side the gun. If you have shorter fingers, your index finger will most likely size up better on the trigger guard to the G48. Longer fingers tend to match up better to the G19. Why is this, because the thickness of the G19 needs more of your palms space to fit around the grip, therefore shortening up your fingers as well.

I noticed this with my SIG P 320 C. I tried the factory medium grip on the gun, O.K. Bought the XD compact grp frame. Chewed the hell out of my second finger on my right hand during recoil. Hurt down to the bone and only about 200 rounds in. Bought the Wilson Combat frame. Went to qualify with the factory grip and passed with flying colors. Than started shooting the W.C. Combat grip.Felt much slimmer than the factory grip. It just gave me more purchase on the pistol. And my accuracy was much better. Be sure to try as much as possible different grips. Especially when firing. It can make a significant difference.

The G19 is far more proven and accepts Glock 15, 17, 24 and 33 round mags and aftermarket drum magazines. Also far more accessories, while the G19 has an accessory rail for lights/lasers.

IF you only had one gun. But for CC only use the G48/43x beats the G19! And for OWB only G17 beats the G19! Especially Gen3 & Gen4 with finger grooves! 👎

Used to own a gen 2 Glock 19. The grip itself was a bit thick for my small hands. But I was able to adjust to it for more than 15 years. It carries great since I just shove in between my stomach and my pants. It also shoots great despite the strange trigger. I noticed that the front sight shakes a bit each time the striker is released during dry firing. But it was still accurate. We did not always have access to fmj ammo. Hand loaded 115 gr lead was the usual practice ammo we used. The lead ammo sometimes key holes but the barrel was always clean from leading till the day I sold it. A few years ago, a shooting buddy kept on asking me to sell it to him since he considered it to be collectible. I sold it and eventually replaced it with a discontinued Ruger P9 series 9mm. It is still a bit thick for me but I don't have to worry about lead bullets and the front sight does not shake during dry firing.

That’s for sure! I’m up to 17 myself. Four are G19s. I like the silver slide. While I don’t have a 48 yet, I have a 43x with the silver slide. I think it is sharp. A nice change from the all one color (mostly black) Glock lineup.

I prefer the Glock 23 over the 19 due to caliber. But what I really like about both is the shorter overall length. I'm short waisted, and have a little difficulty clearing the holster. I look forward to acquiring a Glock 48 MOS.

A heavier slide will reduce muzzle rise and recoil, not the other way around. It absorbs the energy of the round.

I edc a 19 but summer time I’m just too skinny to hide ot without a print (minimal but there and bugs me) I bought a 365 but the grip is just uncomfortable now that I shot a few hundred rounds. Just went to local shop to hold the 48. Will be adding that in my collection after the holidays. What’s great is NY is a 10 round max state anyway so I get same capacity same measurements just thinner.

I have a 43 and wanted a 43X. I didn’t want to get rid of the 43 as it’s what I carry at work. So I got the 43X/48 frame to swap my 43 slide onto when I want to carry it in 43X configuration. I really like the 43X. It’s my favorite handgun next to the 19X. I actually feel like I could get rid of my 19 with the 19X and 43/43X in my safe. I won’t but the 19 is now back of the safe for me. I used to be a big 19 fan until I shot my 19X. If I could only have one handgun it would be the 19X.

I rather carry a thinner heavier gun than a thicker gun. My son has a glock 48 and I carry a glock 43x...I personally prefer both of these with the shield arms mags and talon grips over a glock 19. Thanks for the video.

Get the shield arms magazine release and some shield arms mags and you have a gun with 15 round mags get some talon grips, night sights, and a ghost edge connector and you will have an absolutely amazing firearm.

I picked a 48 up from my buddy. He bought it when they came out & didn’t like it. I have Glocks in all sizes. This 48 is awesome. I say it’s just about perfect. It has it’s purpose. For me it’s my ‘to & from’ work gun. I just put Talon grips on mine like your’s. I’ve never used them. Great upgrade on this gun. Thanks.

I'm short and stocky, the G19 didn't work for me IWB, the finger grooves didn't fit. For OWB, I kept the Gen4 G17: more comfortable grip/finger grooves, more rounds, better sight radius, negligible difference on outside holster. But the G48/43x fit my large palm medium fingers much better, better IWB, lighter, narrower, able to release mag without shifting grip, same 15rnd flush fit. So my two 9mm Glock gun solution is a G17 and a G43x.

Pretty sure the extra length on the G48 is for Canada where barrels have to be 4.17" or longer (106mm) to be legal

I think the G48 would make an excellent military service pistol, here me out here: It's the same philosophy behind the Makarov. The G48 is Light, compact, reliable and inexpensive. It can fall into the roll of an infantryman's secondary weapon, who would appreciate the small size and light weight so he could carry more gear. It would have sufficient firepower for those who carry it as a primary weapon, like an MP. Finally, it would be slim and unobtrusive for an officer carrying it as a badge of rank. I really think there's potential here, and I'll be getting one for my own experiments.

I went to the store looking for a 19. It was recommended to me by my best friend (law enforcement). I had shot it before and was ready to purchase. The store did not have the 19, but had a 48. I went in, checked it out a like the feel of it that much better!

@@gregz1235 same state, same problems but I have one more being left handed haha. I don't think they will ever reverse this law. Not sure if it makes sense to purchase a g19 gen5 for being ambi when its limited to 10 rounds unless the weight helps with recoil but the aftermarket items are endless. I am use to the mag release on the left side as well as the slide lock. I bet they will update the g48 to be fully ami in the future.

Yes it is a G19 Gen 5. Has it on the slide, early ones did not have front slide serrations.

How do you feel the trigger pull? Glock claims the 48 has a lighter trigger pull than the 19, a 7.2 OZ lighter. Is that true? How about the break distance?

I like the idea of a g48 with S/A mags for edc, paired with a G17 for home defense, road trips, and for scenarios where it will stay in the vehicle. Thought about it and a Glock 20 would be a great choice for this option aswell.

Try a few out at a range that will let you rent them. Get what you like and most likely to carry, practice with it as much as you can. Carry it with you everywhere you can, buy a lock box to store in vehicle when you can not carry it legally. Your preference means you will most likely have it on you when you need it. There is no right answer, reliability and whether you can carry it comfortably are the most important factors. The next would be can you hit you target with it.

The 48 slide is longer then the 43x. It confused me at first, but he just brought in another slide from a model that isnt part of the 19/48 comparison. I think to show the modularity of glock/honda pistol.

Scootch. You make a lot of well thought out comments in your reviews and evaluations.. my favorite glocks are all gen 2 due to no mim and the underlying tennifer process under the phosphate finish. And lack of finger grooves. Even the extractors designed for gen 2 seemed to have far fewer failures or issues. Love my g20 and g21 and the most early gen 2.5 glock 31... When gock sells gen 5 in 10mm or 357 sig they may sell me newer glocks. I dont think 9mm is the best carry caliber. Acceptable, but not when better calibers are available that shoot and carry so easily. Love my shields in 45acp. Wow it a shield was available in 10mm or 357 sig i would buy those fast.

Thanks for another great review after watching this yesterday I went to my local gun shop and put hands on a G 17 and the G 48. And after finding the S 15 round magazines for the 48 I put one in lay away. I will be buying a G 17 or 19 to have just in case the world goes completely cazy. But I plan to edc the G 48.
