On not having a relationship at 22: my husband had never had a date or kissed a girl and was 22 when we got together. I used to worry he’d regret hot having lots of other women before “settling down” but I now believe him that he’s just happy that he found his “forever person” on his first attempt.

On proposals: I hadn’t ever thought I wanted marriage because I didn’t feel it would make any dito a relationship. After we’d been living together for a year my partner and I discussed what to do about the fact he was the sole owner of our home. He was worried that I’d be evicted if anything happened to him. We discussed the options of writing wills or putting my name on the deed but seeing as we intended on staying together forever we thought marriage would be the best option. We’d decided in principle to marry but there were no solid plans so I bit the bullet and proposed on the leap year and it doesn’t make him less of a romantic just because he didn’t propose. The big gestures aren’t important. The most romantic thing I’ve ever experienced was him sneaking in and putting some sweets on my desk at work when I’d sent him a message about having a rotten day. Those gestures that show your partner really understands and cares for you mean more than expensive jewellery and stuff.

Smears are SO IMPORTANT! A friend of mine found out that she had cervical cancer at 27 through a ear test. And my grandmother found that she had very aggressive cervical cancer through a smear test. I got my first one done at 19 (US starts very ealry) and have gotten one done every year since then. You can go every other, but I prefer to have one every year.
@charlottee56832 жыл бұрын
Dumb question but I've heard the tests hurt... Did they to you? I'm 23 and haven't gone a single time yet 😅
@Believeinanything12 жыл бұрын
@@charlottee5683 it doesn't hurt AT ALL! Imagine putting a qtip in your ear. It takes like 3 seconds and you're done. If they have to take a biopsy (only if they find something irregular) does it hurt. I've never had to have a biopsy, and I've had smears done at least 8 times. I'm 29, and the only year I didn't have one done was the year I was pregnant 2019-2020. Ask your Dr to explain everything they are doing as they do it. It makes it so much more comfortable. My last dr did that, and I loved it.

@Charlotte E a smear test now doesn't hurt but can be sightly uncomfortable. You can get a smaller size option of a plastic speculum if needed these days too. My first one was a giant cold metal speculum! It also used to be a wooden scraper, the doctor then smeared onto a glass slide to be sent away to the lab on, but now it is a little brush and they just swab then put into a little tub of fluid. I did have pre cancerous cells, and had to have a biopsy, and surgery. Definitely get booked in if you have been invited to.
@Snix2102 жыл бұрын
Definitely feels weird & a little uncomfortable! I had my 1st at 16 (US) also if u ever need a biopsy after an abnormal smear, u have the right 2 ask for numbing cream or other numbing!! I did not know that & was in such pain for days even had 2 miss work!!

Talking of fake friends, I was in a trio with these other 2 girls and I'd been friends with 1 of them for 12 years then the other girl came along and I was always left out for no reason. I knew it wasn't good for me to stay in the friendship but it was hard to distance myself because I'd been friends with one of them for so long. But on August 4th 2021 I stopped being friends with them. I was also friends with another girl at the same time but she was toxic. I stopped being friends with her on September 5th 2021. On May 14th 2021 I became friends with my current friend group and they have made me so happy the whole time being friends with them. So I'm much happier now. So moral of the story I lost three friends in the space of 2 months. I also made new friends in 2021 who I'm still currently friends with so I'm so grateful for that. Sorry for the long comment, just wanted to tell my story because it may be able to help someone. Love your vids soph💜

I was kind of shocked when I found out that people in the uk only get a smear test from the age of 25 and also only every once in a while I feel like. Here in Germany you can start getting them from the age of 16. Maybe ever earlier, I’m not entirely sure. And also we get them 1-2 times a year. It really is nothing to worry about. You’ll barely notice anything about the procedure

Paused again and smears and just wanted to say, anyone who is sexually actively please please please see your gp surgery and book in with the nurse to have a smear! Regardless of if you’re over or under 25. I was 23 and wasn’t due a routine one for 2 more years. I was given one due to severe pains in my side (around where the Fallopian tube is) and it turned out I was actually 13-14 weeks pregnant ( I was told for 7 years I couldn’t have children so never expected this!!) I was sent for an emergency scan to make sure it wasn’t in my tube! Thankfully it wasn’t and it was all ok. But back then a smear took around 6-8 weeks to get the results. I continued with the pregnancy all excited I could actually have children and carry them. I remember the day i got my results In the post! I was at home with my mum. The letter arrived and I didn’t understand it. She read it and her face dropped. It turned out I had something like CIN 3 severe diascariosis or something like that. It’s the stage before cervical cancer. I just remember my mums face dropping. I was told by the specialist my immune system was fighting for my unborn baby and I wouldn’t be able to avoid cervical cancer. Thankfully I was able to carry on with the pregnancy and have my miracle son. But I had to have various treatments and tests after and I had developed cancer. Thankfully I was able to fight it. I was told had I not have been given that smear i would not be here today! Had I of not had a smear I would’ve had cancer long before I was 25 (the age smears are given routinely to women) and I wouldn’t be here today to be a mum to both my babies and have a life. Please do not leave any weird or strange symptoms, or even just if you don’t feel right. Ask for a smear. They will give one. It takes seconds and it’s done. A few seconds to prevent cervical cancer and save your life!! Please don’t avoid a smear at any age, I know it seems degrading or uncomfortable but believe me it’s so worth it. It could literally save your life like it did mine!!

I was that friend that would only talk about herself to my friends and not ask about their life, there was a lot going on in my life so I kind of got caught up in my own issues. But as soon as my friend said to me like: "hey you never ask me anymore how I'm doing" is when I noticed because sometimes we dont even notice we are doing it & now its all a lot better. So you are defenitly right Soph, just make sure you tell your friend if you go to the same thing because sometimes we dont even know

Watching your video and so many questions is like I asked them. Feels reassuring that others feel the same 😅 I'm 31 married but no children. My hubby and I have our own place and love our freedom but we are so ready for babies too so if it happens it happens but no rush. ♡ I also recently had my Smear test too. My nurse was amazing. Just chatting away about work and daily bits and made me feel so comfortable. Didn't take long at all. All in all the swab took like 2/3mins. In the nurses room for 10. X please ladies get your smears. Can help soo much. You'll feel soo much better knowing you've been checked. Tiny amount of nerves & feeling a little uncomfortable for 3 mins so worth it if it keeps you healthy ♡ So much love Soph ❤ OG fan here xxx Take care & thank you xxx

Happy National Women’s Day, Soph and to all the other gorgeous fabulous amazing women here!! 💕💜 Soph, thank you so much for this video. I’m almost 40 and absolutely adore you. You have such great advice in this. You’re an old soul, so much wiser, and much more mature than I was at 25. Really really enjoyed this video today.
