I loved Scott going through the bag. He kept saying not to get stuff in the house but he gets anxious when you purge. That's a man for ya :-) Just show him you can find any recipe on the Internet or youtube, even Pepin, and maybe he will start to purge himself. Or start to cook more ! Love the vids

Wow!!!!! I am so impressed, especially when you got rid of the weight watchers book to make room for the Peppin book. Sophia you have come such a long way when it comes to letting go of things. I went back to rewatch some of your old videos and the reasons you gave for keeping things were hard to understand at times. I love how you set the rules of what you were going to keep and stuck to it. Way to go!! I am still chuckling over Scott going through the discarded books. I have a challenge for him. Scott, I challenge you to get rid of one trash bag a week (of your stuff only) for a month.

I have (or have had) SO many of those same books, plus about a million various church cookbooks. I am inspired to go through them again tomorrow and see what else can Go. One thing I have learned about keeping things more organized is that it is easier to go through things at a glance. Have you found the same thing? Your French cookbooks are gorgeous, and the one your mom handwrote for you... oh my gosh, what a treasure that is! TFS! Sara

My kids always seem to like what I cooked while they were growing up. After seeing your mother's hand written cookbook to you, I decided to hand write my (and their) favorite recipes and give it to them for Christmas. My heart melted when you shared that with us :). It is good to see the different phases we go through in life, and for what ever reason the things we collect along the way...but we are now living in the present moment, and new decisions have to be made. Keep up the good work!!

Sophia, I have been watching for a couple of years now, but this is my first comment to you. I love your declutter vids, and I've been doing the exact same thing with my cookbooks. My rule is similar. If I haven't made a recipe from it/know I won't, then it goes out. I'm British but not a fan of Gordon Ramsey. I had one of his cookbooks, made one recipe, didn't care for it, so out it went. Anyway, who needs GR when we have Jacques Pépin? I agree with you, he is THE best. We used to get his show on tv here (think it was Today's Gourmet), and I would tape them when at work so I could watch. Enjoying your videos. Have a great week :O)

Oh, Sophia! Please. . .Not the cookbooks! I have already gotten rid of half of my collection when I moved from Maryland to Florida. Now I realize that I should have given practically all of them away. I almost never use them. I get all my recipes off the internet. I kid myself that I will read each one and decide if there is one recipe I want to make in there, but will I do that? Probably not. There are a few recipes in a few books that I would want to keep and I could write those down and get rid of the book. Sigh. I used to be so proud of my collection, but then.internet.pinterest. I have my entire giant entertainment center shelves filled with these cookbooks. I need to decide on a number and then the rest must go. And guess what? I still buy one one now and then. Why oh why do i do that? I am only going to buy cookbooks on Kindle from now on. How wonderful to have one of your grandmother's cookbooks and the book your mother made for you. I would kill for those. I have two of my mother's cookbooks that I don't really use but they were there my entire life in her house, so cannot release. I look forward to your videos every day. You have inspired a movement! You would not believe what I have allowed myself to get rid of that I have been holding onto for years. I cannot even explain hose grateful I am to you! BTW Fast Food My Way was one of the ones I gave away before I moved. Bummer. XXOO Love you muchly!

However, now most of it is online, so I am going through my homemade volumes and printed volumes and discarding everything except for charts and photos that are not included online. Even so, it was hard and I hope you're very proud :)
