i saw her video and i also saw that tiny silver bag she talked about and i agree with her. its not an argument to say „if you work with tiny detailed items you cant get it perfect“. fist of all-they have card holders, very tiny micro belt bags and way more items that small and some have even more details than this and they are done better! i think as a brand like chanel, if you design something but cant get it perfect than dont throw it on the market. its not H&M. i mean dont get me wrong. i know that some flaws can happen, a loose stitch or so, but this item she showed was quite bad and i would had returned it too and im 100% sure most of us here would had returned it.

Whenever I receive free gifts from any seller or boutique and feedback is involved, instead of being specific I always say ‘xxx (the sales person) was extra thoughtful, and I appreciate the extra care taken’ instead of being specific. That way they know that you have appreciated the thoughtful gesture without the specifics maybe ruffling any feathers.

Hello I agree about the coat hangers(she shouldn’t have said anything about them), but concerning about being a ‘reseller’, my experience with Sophie’s channel(as far as my knowledge of the channel goes) is that she doesn’t buy the bags to resells them, but she let go of a particular bag only if she doesn’t want it anymore or if she thinks it has been a mistake(didn’t like it after all).

One of the issues that the Herrods Chanel has with Sophie is that she uses her Harrods points to buy Chanel items and she said in the past they react really negatively to that. And that they’ve been rude to her when she for instance bought a Chanel jacket and only had to pay about $100 because she had so many points

Jacob, I think that one of the reason Chanel can get away with the price increases is because people can mentally justify the price thinking thst it is a safe spending. That the item will increase in value, and that they can have the piece of mind they can always get their money back. A lot of Chanel lovers save to buy those bags, not all people have a stash of 5-8k to buy a bag.

Sophie is nice and genuine but she lacks self awareness at times and some sense of taste. I respect her taste but find it lacking and the sensitivity (tact) for some things. That’s something money can’t buy. That’s a bit of a tacky behavior to show that. Nouveaux riche behavior. Nothing personal against her she seems to be a kind genuine person. I also struggle to understand the idolatry concerning these brands since their quality and craftsmanship is really lacking nowadays… its such idolatry to a point where a fabric bag or a hanger is seen as an asset by these youtuber and worth showing.

Personally I only shop with brands that sell online. That's why Dior is one of my favorite brands. I was never into playing " hard to get" games. It actually turns me off. Not every city has all the designers boutiques, that's why selling online is a smart business idea, IMO. And I don't consider Lady Dior bags less exclusive than Chanel flaps. The price they cost already make them exquisite and exclusive and you don't see them on every corner like Chanel or LV .

I work in the industry and we are NOT allowed to hand out store hangers. Plastic ones are fine if asked by the customer (but again not a stack, just one). High ticket items like leather jackets would be placed on a plastic hanger before being hung in a garment bag. But under no circumstance, is it okay to freely hand out hangers...

I can’t comment on the hangers situation however last year when I was in my local boutique purchasing a bag I did mention to my SA at the time that I was missing a shoe dust bag from my previous purchase a number of months ago. Just before I left the boutique that day my SA kindly stuffed 8 dust bags into my purchase which I thought was very generous. I did not think this could have possibly been a problem as she did this in front of her manager.

They could be using the ship from store method for Dior. They pull it from the shelf if it sells. They likely don’t sell that many units per week so this model might be what they use. Even mass market retailers do this so a smaller producer like Dior definitely would. I doubt they ship direct from a warehouse given the overhead for low unit volume.

In my opinion, not at all. They are not. They are overpriced luxury pieces which lose a lot of value the minute you walk out the door of the boutique with your purchase. The pieces that might have special value would be the extremely rare pieces which are made of rare precious gems and metals and which already retail for hundreds of thousands or millions even. But thats a whole other ballpark. The regular love bracelets and co... all of them are not in my opinion investments.

When you compare the weight of the carats and gold to non-designer fine jewelry, you are paying a premium price. You can get a 5 carat tennis bracelet for less than the cost of a Cartier bracelet. That being said, that doesn’t necessarily negate me from owning some pieces. I think having a balance of non-luxury and luxury jewelry items helps justify the markup you know you are paying for the brand name. There are some jewelers who will make exact dupes for half the cost. However some jewelers see this as unethical and won’t do that for you. The price of gold has increased over time. So from that perspective, you can loosely consider it as an “investment”. From a resale perspective, they are not. Cartier has improved the clasp for the just un clou, so buying the newer version is a better option than buying resale. If it brings you great joy to own their pieces, then go for it. They are super high quality jewelry.

I bought my first designer bag from chanel and sadly their service was as though I'm buying a loaf of bread for a dollar. My bag cost 4 grand. They forgot to pack the dustbag and felt cloth. When I called the store they said oh just come by and pick one up. I was appalled and said I just spent 4 grand on a bag and you cant even apologise for your mistake??? Her video raises good discussion points about "KZbinr privilege". She had previously said that she wouldn't be purchasing Chanel because of the poor quality and service, however, after she was invited to come into a boutique and gets treated like a VIP she has changed her mind. That is fair enough, however she is trying to positively advocate for a brand based on her experience which is not necessarily the same experience as the average Jane gets when they walk into a store, not less buy an expensive bag. So, what she is saying is "give Chanel another Chance" as the experience is better, based off her experience being treated like a VIP. Not necessarily convincing. Love her content, but I don't think she quite thought through that video before posting it.

I like Sophie for her content but I'm of the mindset that if I buy a bag, it's not an investment. I buy a bag, be it luxe or not, because it's pretty and I want it. I'm not buying it with the primary intent to ever sell it. It's just too much hassle for me. I dislike resellers who buy a bag and deplete an inventory only to turn around and make a profit rather than resellers who are just merely trying to destash and re-home bags they don't love anymore.

OMG this reminds me of another KZbinr who said she was going to sell the candles and thank you cards she got from Van Cleef. I felt that it was so tacky and awful since sometimes luxury brands are so stingy with gifts like that! I did leave her a message suggesting she may gift those “tokens” to her fans. Yes, I kind of got the same impression reg. free hangers. Many many years ago I used to work for a high end designer brand and we were clearly told not to go be away the hangers. However, as staff, if we needed hangers for our garments given to us by the brand to wear, we were allowed to have them, even extra hangers. It was one of the perks ( including, some times, getting very discounted clothes ).

Whether the Chanel bags are „affordable“ or not depends on how Hermès acts. If Hermès increase their price, ppl will remain on Chanel. Yet if they don’t, ppl will switch to Birkin and Kelly instead. All price increases of Chanel have worked out only because Chanel was on the 2nd place of the designer bag market, and their price were way less than that of the 1st place bags-The Birkin...till now! Chanel has no major(big, famous) designers as they had in the last 50 years. It is not handmade. The chain does not contain gold anymore. The quality of leather is not as best as that of Birkin. Now what will happen to Chanel if Hermès does nothing?

Dear Hana Ahmed, if you actually watched my videos you would see just how many critical opinions and videos I made and shared on Chanel and on their lack of professionalism in many instances so the truth here is that we all guess you cannot give a fair review or opinion on my videos since you did not even bother to do your due diligent research about my work but rather just jump to ignorant conclusions because as it becomes obvious, the bias is coming from you and your bias preference of Dior over Chanel.
