SOPMOD Kit Part 1- The Rifle

I'm doing something similar as far as putting together a "deployment kit." I'm doing a 16in with a 3-18 power optic with an offset dot with a second 12.5in upper with red dot and magnifier. Slightly longer barrels but essentially filling the same roles. I plan on swapping my can back and forth but having every thing else specific to each upper

Awesome, I too eventually will have that 11.5 outfitted with the same accessories as the 14.5. Glad to see others are not limiting themselves to just one barrel length.

I would not recommend switching the internals between uppers, the bolt is designed to wear to the chamber of the barrel and if you use one rifle a lot and switch to the other you could run into reliability issues. If you really want to do it I would just get a second bolt and designate it to one of the rifles. Awesome builds though!

It’s the 10inch one Giessele offers if I remember correctly. I had the 10.5 inch barrel in there and it was just long enough to clear the suppressor for pick up

This is done intentionally on some setups that get crowded toward the end of the rail.

I am going to ask, what are probably the most ignorant questions possible, please forgive me … Is your front m-bus installed backwards on the 11.5? If it is, what is the reasoning? Again, these are probably an incredibly dumb questions, and for that I apologize.

Yea not dumb at all. It’s to free up more space on the top rail. Where I mount the pressure switch is set too far back for my liking with the front sight mounted the other way.
