I have just discovered your podcast and am happy to subscribe. Strangely, I just made your sweater design a favorite and then made the connection with the sock pattern that I purchased from that yarn company at least a year ago. I never knitted the pattern but now have it back in my queue. As for the yarn, I have removed /discarded the label and donated the skein. Happy Spring and I look forward to your future videos!🌞

Welcome back. So fun to see your different opera costumes on Instagram. I like your take on reimagining and altering knits you don’t wear. I’m sorry you had to brave some rocky roads on your designer journey. And, as you’ve said, all you designers need to speak up or we the consumer wouldn’t know. On another note, my pattern and yarns purchased from the yarn companies you used for the Doris mitts have been ready to go since you released it. Maybe this summer so I’ll have them for fall. Enjoy your trip to Italy.

Nice to see you back podcasting Becky! Your makes are lovely as always. I'm surprised to hear about the issues with Making Stories, as Hannah Lisa has always been so outspoken in favor of fair compensation for designers. However, I of course believe the experience you have had, and I hope you're able to find a resolution that you and the other designers feel is appropriate. On a happier note, I hope you're able to savor the lingering sweater weather but that warm sunshine reaches you soon!

Stephanie Nappa it’s a lot of talk, but not the walk. In my experience, I was never paid or even offered compensation for an article I wrote for their first book.

@@laframboiseverte good to know, I'm glad more people are speaking up for what is right. The more we are all open about how we treat each other the faster this community becomes a better place. Or at least I hope so!

Yeah, it surprised us too to see some of the decisions they made relating to the distribution of our work and our compensation. There were many more issues that I didn't mention including them asking designers to buy back their samples for hundreds of euros and taking large portions of our fees for extra tech editing costs. Some of these things were resolved after putting up quite a fight but not all. The very small gestures they offered after the e-book surprise were never followed through on. Disappointing to say the least. I truly hope they've learned from it but considering at this point there is quite a laundry list of issues regarding their lack of transparency in dealing with designers, I'm not confident that's something they're committed to.
