Having worked in a couple of nursing homes I can say this is 100% true. The "alert and aware" patients with physical disabilities refuse to associate with the dementia patients. I saw a fight in the cafeteria where two women in wheelchairs pulled a third woman out of her wheelchair and threw food on her face because she refused to leave the table.
