At least with OpenAI and Runway, generations are monitored and blocked by a censor. If bad actors use it and cause harm to someone, they can be tracked down. And of course, there are also VPNs, which have become commonplace in countries like China, where regulations on internet use are stricter.

The game changer would be adding place holders in the video, that makes it possible to use Sora for branding. So at the moment, we use AI editors that are basically templates like Renderforest and create LOGO vids. Very cool. One hiccup is that it seems Sora has a problem with animal leg movement, it kept conflating the front legs when the mammoth was walking, so the right leg was taking over for the back motion and the left leg for the front motion for each step (instead of the legs fully alternating).

By doing so, Europeans will be at a great disadvantage on the world stage. It's unfortunate that the regulation is also written without a clear understanding of how LLMs work in the first place and completely ignores the existence of open source models that remain accessible anyway. There's competitors to Sora out there that are available in the EU so it makes little sense. OpenAI is simply playing it safe, and I would too when large fines loom.
