Sora won the Smash fighter ballot that was originally meant to decide Smash 4's DLC characters. That's how long it took for them to make this a reality. Not as the last DLC character in Smash 4, but as the last DLC character in the following entry in the series. The last character in a game called Ultimate with the tagline 'Everyone is Here'; that couldn't be more appropriate now.

Yeah, being a teen through the GameCube-wii u eras, Nintendo was perceived as being outdated technology for kids, and not “cool and badass” like PS3 and Xbox360. Everyone was obsessed with call of duty and online multiplayer games. I’m sad I fell into that mindset. I did have a Wii, but really only had a handful of games. Now playing Skyward Sword I’m shocked how good it is and sad that I could’ve played it 10 years ago lol.

Let's put it this way... Sakurai mentioned in the stream that they had a poll for the 3DS/Wii U Smash game and Sora won the poll but couldn't release the results so fans wouldn't bug 3rd party companies. A well known Twitter poll, conducted by a bot scanning all of Twitter from the US, UK and Japan found that Sora placed 1st in demand from both the US and UK and 2nd in Japan (the only person person beat him was Lloyd, the MC of Tales of Symphonia). YES we wanted this, and for a VERY long time. You can find a billion mods out there placing him in the game, usually as a response if Pit or Link.

@@kitkat7074 Look, it's better than nothing. People who only own a Switch at least have an option. But compare this to how Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest have been treated on the platform. Final Fantasy 7, 9, the remasters of 8, 10, 10-2, and 12 are all on the Switch natively with World of Final Fantasy as well. The only modern games not on Switch are the MMOs, 13 trilogy (which very few even want), and 15 and 7 Remake, which are some extremely demanding games. Dragon Quest got an exceptional version of 11, multiple legacy releases, and a beautiful remake of 3 coming. It's just really lame that they would treat the Kingdom Hearts series so much worse.

You joke, but just try to imagine if the World of Smash was in Kingdom Hearts IV. Running into Samus and Ridley or a dogfight between Star Fox and Star Wolf while you travel between worlds. The damaged Gummi Ship crash lands on Rosalina’s Observatory, and she takes Sora, Donald, and Goofy down to the safety of the Nintendo Kingdom. Fighting the Heartless alongside Mario and Link. Facing off against Dark Beast Ganon and a Bowser who has been consumed by darkness. A summon that calls Pokémon to your aid. This just seems like an amazing idea.

Fun fact: The Smash characters have always been amiibos. The game has always been just a kid(Master Hand) playing with their toys & making them fight. The official amiibo design(with the base & everything) is based on Smash’s representation of that in Melee/Brawl.

Unfortunately the KH games on Switch outside of Melody of Memory are all cloud based, meaning you'll need good internet to stream them. I would recommend the PS3, PS4, Xbox One, or PC collections over playing them on Switch. It's a shame they didn't develop natively run versions on Switch.

Man, the sheer timing... I first discovered you catching up to and reacting to all the Smash announcements up until the then-recent Steve reveal... you played through much of Kingdom hearts and just 100% platinum KH2, still believed by many to be the best game of the series, even pushing through beating the extra bosses, especially Lingering Will... Then this trailer bookends the whole staring at the flaming Smash logo and the final guest character? Sora. It's all poetic how things turned out on your end :3 It's been a delight watching this event live on your stream and hearing you explode with excitement like we all have in prior surprise guest character reveals as you finally caught up with the rest of us being excited for a new, and final, character for this once-in-a-lifetime crossover bonanza of a game. Sora joins Smash in patch 13.0.0, 13 days after release, and comes with 13 spirits. On top of this, if we count Pyra and Mythra as separate characters, Sora is the 13th DLC in Ultimate. Also, with 5 Sora spirits and 8 on the spirit board, that's 13 spirits. Considering KH's connection to the number 13, Organization XIII, the 13 Darknesses, etc, this cannot be coincidence. On top of this, KH also has connections to the number 7, via the 7 Lights that face the 13 Darknesses, and the 7 Princesses of Heart. Again, counting Pyra and Mythra as separate characters, Sora is the 7th fighter in Fighters Pass 2 And as I began to wrap my head around this I came to conclusion that this was clearly planed out

Dee Bee Geek started watching Smash Bros content exactly a year ago around October 2020 I believe when Steve was revealed/released. One year later in October 2021, the final Smash Ultimate character was revealed and I've noticed every reveal since Sephiroth back in December. He was always hyped, excited, happy, etc. It's crazy how when he was starting to get into Xenoblade, Pyra and Mythra were revealed and Kazuya being Smash months later when Dee is a Tekken fan. Now with Sora as the final character and a character from a game he's playing nowadays, It's pretty crazy isn't it. Having this guy before not being that much of a Nintendo fan until a year ago and now is basically a big Nintendo fan now. This is why Dee Bee Geek is becoming one of my favorite streamers of all time. He deserves all the love from his fans including myself and I hope he continues to play more Nintendo related games on the channel.
