I could be wrong but it looks like Halep is playing a bit smarter and her depth of shot has improved lately. Still got to do something about that terrible second serve though and would be nice to see some approaches to the net sometimes.

As much as I love halep, there's not alot she can do with the 2nd serve other than just riskier placement, her technique is solid (similar to Wawrinkas who has a very beefy serve and great 2nd serve despite his own height) but Halep is short being 5'6 and leanly built upper body, I think the fastest she's ever hit a serve was 114 and that was years ago.

@ferzy09 Thats the right play against a flat big hitter, you don't give them a angle to work with and for some of them their footwork isn't good if they have to make minor changes, either forcing a error or a predictable shot that gives Halep a REAL winner opportunity. That's why of the WTA she has the highest on average Winner to unforced differential.

@@RALF0691 It has much to do with fact that Sorana isn't too fond of being in the shadow cast by Simona's success. Back in 2009, Sorana was the top Romanian, having made the FO QF as a 19-year-old, and winning her first title. Simona unseated her as the top Romanian with her breakout 2013, and kept ascending, and Sorana hasn't seemed to handle it well. When Simo was playing her first GS final in 2014, Sorana said she can't wish her success because she wasn't in the country. When Simona became #1 for the first time, Sorana said "I haven't had time to congratulate Simona yet. I had a busy schedule and I didn't have time." The thing that i like abour Simo, aside from her game & personality, is that she does not want to _politicise_ tennis. Tennis is a game about fairness. One's political ideology shd Not interfere with the game! Not to mention that we may feel for the human tragedy occuring but object NATO inflaming existing conflict and letting this get out of hand. It is OBVIOUSLY nato fault... But still can't help feeling for ppl, and still (again), we're talking about sports. Let the athlets do what they do best, don't drag them into politics... and put russian players' *flag* back - next to their name. It's pathetic how you reduced them to exiles???

Halep is not as great as she seems. Her gameplay is utterly aggressive and defensive, she rarely makes it to the net, she never plays games on her opponent and rarely using smart strategies or any strategies at all. Her only strength is her desire to win and incredible aggressive attitude. Sorana is smart, plays intelligent games, takes risks but sometimes she forgets that she needs to defend herself . Halep was never a strategic player and maybe that is the reason she won so many times because she literally crushed her opponents with her lack of strategies. It’s like playing against a wild animal, you never know when it hits you. She was also incredibly supported by some high tennis figures in Romania and given best coach ever (Daren), at least for her, otherwise she would’ve still been a no name today.

Why don't you think that the lack of strategies is a strategy itself (since it makes her win games)?
@rainymoods75412 жыл бұрын
@@RaduRadonys it is if you can’t do anything else, anyways that’s where the genius of Darren Cahill was that he figured that out and after countless fights between them he understood that he can’t actually teach her anything so he insisted on her strength and stamina which significantly increased during their time together. Also he worked a lot on her self esteem and that showed. Don’t know how good he is as a coach but he’s definitely an excellent psychologist, he’s the only one who could stand w her. If Sorana had the same boat as Halep (same trainer, same help from influential people) she would’ve been far better than Halep, this is not only my opinion. I don’t know how to properly say it because I don’t want to be unfair but Halep always gave me the sentiment of a false champion. It’s like she didn’t get no.1 due to her merits but because some people absolutely wanted her there and made sure she’ll get it. That is not take away her hard work and achievements but it’s like she was literally prompted there with or without her knowing it. Something similar to what’s happening to Emma Raducanu at the moment. That’s why I don’t think I’ll ever cheer for any of them regardless of their achievements.
