I will be trying this technique for the NYC Apartment building and after that I will be doing this Sanctuary. One of the truly revolutionary things about this video is that--even if you don't play "Marvel: Crisis Protocol" the use of extreme zenithal highlighting and application of Contrast paints as large glazes over the surfaces (especially bricks) has a heck of a lot of applicability for terrain pieces in D&D, Frostgrave, Kingdom Death, Zombicide and Star Wars: Legion. Increasingly the over-hype versus under-hype of Contrast has found a nice middle-ground as a very versatile tool anyone can use in their painting toolbox. This made my day to watch this on Christmas Eve. You are truly our Bob Ross of the 21st Century!

Another BEAUTIFUL video! I was wondering, Sorastro, do you even get to play the game with all the painting being done and with the family responsibilities? Also... if you do, with your sense of macro photography and the incredible shots and vignettes you put together, it would be such a treat if just once you did a battle report filled with those sorts of images of each attack or action with the play-by-play over top. In any case, Merry Christmas!
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! And yes, I do play - sometimes with my daughter, and sometimes with a friend who also collects/paints. I've been thinking about filming a battle report for a while now, but would need some additional lighting (and a camera that handles focus tracking a lot better than my Panasonic does). So, one day... 😁
@HotelCharliHill
@HotelCharliHill 2 жыл бұрын
@@Sorastro That's great, I bet she appreciates that :) If I shot battle reports, I'd rely on manual focus and a small tripod I can move around the table and even fold for low close shots because auto focus is so weird. I'd also rely mostly on still shots. I look forward to it!

Excellent work fella! Quick question when doing your underpainting what type of paint or brand did you use for that “full body white” in the tube? I normally just have Citadel paints and I feel like I’d burn through my stock doing this step with the little pots.
@Sorastro
@Sorastro Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! So, for the white I use Schmincke's Titanium White or Scalecolor's Art White from the smooth artists range. These are both examples of a heavy-body white acrylic paint, and both are so much better than any white put out by the likes of GW 😀

Yep, you totally could do that! I just don't magnetize my figures of course because I have magnets embedded in the boards, and I don't want the minis getting pulled about during a game. 😁
