The sorc has 6 key passives, 2 for each element. The sorcs main damage comes from non physical damage and the element is it's vehicle, three of the passives should be elemental based while the other 3 should scale with non physical damage,(ex: direct, dot, and cc). Or change some nodes in paragon to reflect this, just my thoughts about it.

@Rob2628 Since early D3 days, I've only played sorc. The most basic and impactful change we need is the off hand focus needs to be treated like the rogues bow. It should not take up a "hand" and should orbit the sorc. This means you can wield two 1h weapons (wand, sword, and dagger) or a 2h staff or greatsword. Nearly as fundamental, give back the 3rd enchantment slot. Finally, a 50% or more base damage increase to every skill and enchantment effect, maybe 100% on the key passives. I see these as simple enough changes to implement before season 5 so sorcs don't have to wait over 2 months to enjoy the game again. Beyond that, more detailed reworks of the entire paragon board and improving the glyphs, legendary nodes, and basically all the skills and passives as well, but that should be given time to get right. The 3 things above should andcould be implemented by the start of season 5 if they don't want to lose a 5th of their player base.

It's not just the passives. The entire paragon board needs reworked. Including glyphs and legendary nodes and rare nodes. Allow sorc to wield 2 hand weapon, 1 hand weapon, AND focus to adjust for aspects. Give us another enchantment slot at level 80, and let the spells cast from enchantment slots count as being "cast" for the purposes of what they can proc with lucky hit and other effects.

The 2 classes with most gear slots, rogue and barbarian, are the only 2 classes with uncapped keystones. It's not rocket science as to why the other classes fall behind them. I would like to see a 1.5x offensive belt slot added to the game for sorc, druid, and necro. It's not fair that the 2 classes with the most stats have uncapped ways to scale stats. It's actually dumb.

That is exactly the problem but the question is how to fix it. In theory the two enchantment slots are supposed to be equivalent to the extra two 2H weapons for barbarian. Clearly this is not the case. The same is true for druid and necromancer too. Given the choice of two extra 2H weapon slots who would choose spirit boons or the book of the dead? Rogues get a choice of three specializations. Based on the fact that they are only one 2H weapon down from barbarian that specialization should be equivalent to one 2H weapon. Again, I do not feel that it is. That said, clearly the rogue is the closest to the barbarian in terms of power. To balance the sorc with the barbarian, the enchantment slots should be reworked so that each one really is equivalent to having an extra 2H weapon (with tempering and a nice aspect with double its regular effect) as well as reworking the paragon and skills. Alternatively nerf the barbarian. The classes should be reworked. I can't really speak regarding druid and necromancer as I don't play them much.

Im just wondering why is it so hard to balance classes. I understand its not gonna be perfect, but why not have playtesters hired to math out everything, run pits and try to get all builds to a level playing field. Sure, min maxing will ruin everything in the end, but if I cant build ice shards or charged bolts and clear 150 just like everyone else because boss takes 10 minutes to kill, that seems like an obvious problem that should be handled right away, not 10 seasons later. Sorc has been in a bad spot since launch simply because of damage being hidden behind cc/vulnerable as a class mechanic.

We gave feedback about Sorc since release and all we got was nerfs and bugs. They are not gonna fix Sorc before season 6 cause that would distract the audience from Spiritborn and VOH preorders. So we are fu(#&@ for at least few months...

I suspect Sorc belongs to the causal player friendly classes. I read somewhere that sorc has the largest player base, vast majority of which, however, won't reach lv 100. This is why it has many top leveling builds but they fall off fast in end games. This is likely the strategy of Blizzard, making some classes end game classes and some other classes entry level classes. The balance Blizzard cares the most is user base balance rather than class endgame balance.

this is the first season i played sorc, fell into the fractured hourglass frozen orb build and went with it. didn't look at a guide either. I can push pit 80ish. tormented bosses, only killed Zir so far and I felt like I was just about to die. it's a fun build but not sure what else I can do to get higher or kill other tormented bosses

Fully agree that soft caps would have been a way better solution and should actually be implemented instead of hard caps. Hard capping armor in itself doesn't make any sense, you can't avoid being over the cap but it's completely useless.

Really drives home Rob's point too. The fact that armor caps means every build needs the same number of armor rolls and armor tempers, and then you never have to the think about the stat again. It's such bad, lazy, and unfun design.

And maybe more options for the enchantments since some of them are just too strong (Fire bolt one) so you lose options. Sorcs have kept saying that key passives and paragon sucks for a year now. Nothing has happened, except they've gotten worse with the caps. Also Sorc tempers and Legendary aspecs are fairly weak, on PTR you had builds equiping almost full uniques because they were better for sorcs than any combo of legendary aspecs and tempers.

D4 is pretty cursed for me. I'm a crusader main who can't play a crusader. I tried the other classes and sorc felt cool, really fast and I loved teleporting in and pulling all the mobs to me and blowing them up. I might just have to come to terms with enjoying a lower tier class that cant compete in the end game.

Blizz dev pipeline is like how microsoft made all windows version. Focus on making new version rather fixing old problem. Based on previous history of how they handle last season feedback, its kind of unrealistic to expect any major changes for sorc next season; may be only a few tweaks on base number here and there. Also capping totally kill the fun .. at end game, the motivation of collect better items only to scale those cap ..

Every class and mos of their builds however you build them as long as there’s some sense of logical synergies should be viable. Honestly it’s already going to be season 5 soon and I’m getting really tired of wanting to play a specific build I prefer and actually have fun with only to be forced to change my build to whatever the meta is because other builds are to weak or got nerfed or completely ditching an entire class like Druid who’s pulverize is my absolute favorite play style hands down just to play any of the other classes. They need to balance the classes over all and complete get rid of the nerf system we have choices and options which is what the game is about and that’s the suppose to be the fun of it but instead season after season we’re forced to play the way blizzard wants us to play or needing out of reach ridiculous amounts of Ubers to make it further etc. stop balancing the game by making people’s favorite builds and play styles worse to make what you want to be the best forcing people to play those builds.

Idk why the smooth brains at blizzard have such trouble balancing a game. Oh this build can’t clear as high as this other build? JUST BUMP UP IT NUMBERS UNTIL ITS CLOSE. it’s literally one of the easiest game types to balance. But for some reason they think they can only do these change once a season and it’s the most difficult thing in the world. It’s literally an excel spread sheet for damage and survivability. I could get a 10 year old to do it
