Solo Train Journey Through The Japanese Countryside | Japan Travel Vlog

A station (and local train as well) I saw in the Kore-eda's movie "Our Little Sister" fascinated me. I searched and found that It's Ashio station on Watarase Keikoku Line in Tochigi.
I immediately started to plan the trip to visit there. Solo travel, just for the train and the station.
I stayed at a hotel in Kiryu city and began the journey the next early morning.

A few years back, I think in Vancouver a single black bear killed 4 people in less than an hour. Though smaller than grizzlies, they can be vicious and aggressive.

I did the exact same thing - visit Ashio in Tochigi ken to ride the Watarase train from Ashio to Kiryu. I came from Nikko via bus to Ashio. Ashio a very special place to me. I was just there in Late October of 2023, and before that way back in 1965 as a child, with my mother. Ashio is where my mother was born and raised along with generations of her clan going back to the 12th century. I wanted to see the momiji turned red, but I was too early, or the momiji was late. The train is older than I am. I loved the sound, and smell of the diesel engined train. Also really enjoyed our brief stop to pick up food vendors, and enjoy a lunch on the train. I hope I can visit again one day.

Every time I watch any Japan travel vlog it always makes my heart warm. The beautiful scenery makes me nostalgic even though I've nothing to do in Japan. So beautiful. I wish one day I can visit this country. But don't know even if I reach there how I'll travel with my broken English and no Japanese knowledge.
