Step 1: don't be from a third world country, everywhere you want to travel will require you to apply for a VISA
@missviolettehour6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't think this video is very realistic. I'm not sure how realistic this is either but maybe you could apply for a Visa to the European Union and then travel to several countries that way? Applying for visas are pain and they can also reject them but I don't think its that expensive to apply. And you could go to cheaper countries like Poland and Slovakia that are close to one another. I know they are not what everyone thinks about when they think about traveling but I've been to Slovakia and I thought it was really lovely and very affordable . I've heard Warsaw is one of the nicest cities in Europe and is also cheap. Best of luck

I don't tend to comment negatively. Either I have something nice to say or I don't say anything at all. But I need to say something here. I'm just so fed up with all these "travel with no money" videos. You all speak from a place of privilege. Everything you say applies to first world countries/citizens only as if they are the only ones watching or wanting to travel. You all keep repeating the same formula: wwoofing, work&travel, volunteering, pick up jobs along the way, cheap flights, stay in hostels, etc. For years, nobody has added anything new to this list. So why you all keep continue making these videos, repeating what hundreds before you have said, I've no idea. Also, as many mentioned, I find the way how you all keep using "broke" offensive to those people who actually are broke. And how the job opportunities you mention basically only apply to outgoing/extroverted/confident people. And I speak from a position of privilege as well. I am not broke because I have a job that covers my bills just so, happy I'm not adding to my existing debt. I have the best passport you can have and usually don't have to pay for visa applications. I live in a place with social security, good healthcare and access to cheap flights. And I still can't afford to travel. I can only imagine how videos like these must feel like a slap to the face to people who don't enjoy the privileges I do, much less yourself. It all comes down to this: You were lucky. You had a safety net to fall back on and money to start your life of travel or at least knew someone who could advance you the money (I couldn't prepay $6000 for anything now, let alone when I was 18). Sorry for this rant. I'm just so sick of all this appropriation culture and clickbait titles.

PRIORITIES, it’s all about priorities. When you want something there’s nothing that can stop you, she probably gave up a lot of things you are not willing to give up, so don’t make it seem like it’s impossible. You just don’t want it hard enough. It’s also about mentality, you just said all the reasons why you can’t do it, but she said all the reasons that made it possible for her to travel. Unrealistic for you? Maybe so, but she wants to encourage the idea of possibilities. You don’t know what she had to sacrifice, but what are you willing to sacrifice?! How much she had to learn, and what it took for her to become who she is now. Becoming what she is takes a lot of work both physically and mentally. If you really wanted to travel as bad, you would be doing so. So don’t blame the people who post this videos for your lack of ambition towards the things you “want” to do. No video will ever give you what you want to hear, sometimes you just have to go for it!! Good luck! @flipflop poet

Just ask people from third world countries who face racism and profiling. But i guess they also just don't want it bad enough. Is this the life you're planning to have in the future, when you'l be a little bit older ? You can't live with a year plan all your life. That's quite irresponsible when you're over 25 to 30 yo
@AdrianLoganLive6 жыл бұрын
@surprise toy city - I think it's irresponsible going your whole life never breaking the mold and just following the already outlined path because it's what people tell you is the responsible thing to do and never seeing what the world actually has to offer. No one who travels the world and experiences life in the greatest of ways will ever have regrets on their deathbed. I don't think people who work all their life just to buy a house and car can say the same thing....
@ulysse216 жыл бұрын
I think yoy're too young to realise. I was like you, but once you reach the 40s you start to think of other stuff... more serious stuff actually. You start you realise you maybe better have started earlier a serious business or job and saved money for your older days, when you will have to look more closely for your health. Having daily jobs without any future perspective, just to throw your money doing only what you like in a few days, then coming back again to any other job you don't like anyway, it's not just adeventurous, but also irresponsible. you may stay young in your mind all your life, but your body will remind you sooner or later that you can't live forever. Sorry for my english !
@AdrianLoganLive6 жыл бұрын
I understand your point, and I would agree that not considering options for retirement would be irresponsible. But that's not what we are talking about here. You can absolutely plan for retirement while also working and saving to travel over long periods of time. Keep in mind how much money you spend on rent/mortgage payments, car payments and car insurance etc which you dont have to pay for anywhere near as much while traveling. You can actually travel to save money as opposed to loosing it. Work 1 year. 9months of savings for 1 year of travel, 3 months of saving to contribute to retirement. Rinse and repeat. Most importantly. As she emphasized in the video. You can travel and work on a business to develop an income while traveling so you never have to go back if you dont want while saving. It's 2018 and there are many avenues and options for developing an income
@ulysse216 жыл бұрын
oh Ok. Yeah, there are many options to develop income for a traveler or an adventurer. That's more intelligent than just limited time jobs. So you can consider what you spend on travelling as an investement. If you cut corners, don't get expensive hair products, get the cheapest of the cheap, scrimp and save, sell your old clothes and stuff you don't need, don't EVER waste money on takeaway that just makes you feel like crap and is insanely expensive, don't buy starbucks, batch cook your own meals at home to take to work instead of buying lunch out, don't pay an expensive contract for a phone you don't need when getting a proper camera is so much better, don't pay pointless amounts of rent just to have somewhere nice to sleep when you can live somewhere really cheap that forces you to go out more - you do all this? @@Elvis-guy1973 saving 50K is so easy. Stop buying expensive products or buying things you don’t need. Also stop buying too much food etc. You can easily live with 40 dollars a month (food etc) Work every day at least 2 years. Try to reduce all bills and stop paying for services and other stuff you don’t need. Example paying 20 dollars for 10GB data. Stop doing that just go for 5 dollars with 2Gb Data for example. And when you saved up a lot of money and are planning to travel for years sell your car sell your house sell everything and store your belongings at your parents house or store it in a storage shed or something. After all this find cheap flights. Wait for deals and don’t be impatient. Just check random flights everyday until you find a cheap flight or an error fare. When it comes to stays don’t think too difficult. Even in expensive Norway you can stay at places for 20 dollars a day. If you don’t want to spend any money at all you can just make a tent and sleep in the wilderness. You could also rent a car and sleep in there. When it comes to countries in like Not Western countries you should stay in a hotel or something. But even then hotels are very cheap. Especially in Africa. Now how do I know all this? Because of the great couple with the KZbin Channel Karaandnate! What I just told you is actually their life. They are the living proof that this is possible and that it works.

I cannot stand comfortably middle class people announcing they are broke. It's really selfish and abusive to others who are truly struggling. To me, broke is you really can't afford both your medication and your winter coat. Broke is you cannot cover you bills and could never have money to go to a restaurant. You were never broke. Someone broke cannot afford pricey camera equipment or fund themselves in those months or possibly years it takes for a freelance career to get started. You meant to say you weren't wealthy. Anyone who says flights are cheap was never broke. $75-500 for tickets is far, far, just laughably far out of reach for someone who is broke. When I was in Australia as a bartender, use to get paid $15 an hour and on Sunday double pay. A 4 hour shift on Sunday use to pay my rent and bills for a week. In the UK, 1/3 of my monthly paycheck just goes to rent,and I'm an assistant manager now. Australia was expensive and the wages are so much better compared to most of the world.

I live in the US but I have the same mentality about travel. If I am going somewhere I want to really see it, not some weeklong vacation. I try to take a month for my travels abroad. Sadly, the job culture in America is typically 9-5 with max of 2 weeks of vacation. Month long vacations are rare. My travels usually require me to quit my job and come back to look for another job and usually center around life changes like graduating college.

IF YOURE ACTUALLY BROKE These are bad tips. BUT, if you have acess to education you can try to get yourself a job that allows you to tarvel. Like being a circus peformer or a travel quide. If you're broke, its verry difficult to work your way up with expenses like a house, bills, a car etc. There's some alternatives for that. 1. Communes. You work and can stay for free, and can even make money. Only you have to have the money to get to that commune. 2. move out of your apartment, ( you might have people like your parents or friends who can accomadate you, for the while (like copule months) you work) if you're lucky and are from america or norther countrys, your calary that isn't a lot here, can pay you a long way in a cheaper countrys. You can also live in your car if you have one. My uncle did that and was able to fix his financhial problems, by saving money that way. If you're from a "cheaper" country you can try to get a job from the more expensive country and travel back richer (Like sell icecream on a beach, all you need is a permission to do that from the city or town. Or you can bring your own food culture, I bet people will be interested to try, even more in northern countrys, that are really white) (ALSO couch surfing is an app that lets you stay over at peoples houses for free, and you can have some great experiences) Hitchiking is the cheapest way to move around, for free!!! AND train surfing makes it possible to travel long distances for free.

If you like kids being an aupair is also an option. I was in London last year living with a family and looking after their two kids 4 days per week. You get "pocket money", food and you live with them. You won't get rich, but it can be a nice way of not just travelling, but getting to know the local life as well. Every family is different so it can go either way, but I was quite lucky, altough my kids were crazy sometimes. But I'm doing it again, so I would deffinetly recommend to consider it as an option.

Hey! Thank you so much for this but too bad I live in a developing country and it's *really* hard to go anywhere you want because you need VISA and stuff. The VISA itself is not expensive but they can reject your application if you don't have a huge amount of money in your bank account (which is suck) - and plus when you don't have European/American passport, it's not easy to travel to the 1st world country without getting this questions: "are you sure you will go back to your own country in less than three months" or "what if you will work in this country illegally?" - and even though you've enough money in your bank account to prove that you can afford to live in the first world country for _less than three months_ , there's still a probability of your visa getting rejected. You have good points here and your ways of getting money are all valid and realistic but it's not applicable to *everyone* . I notice that almost all travelers and digital nomads are Europeans or Americans. I know it's not bad to have a dream but for me, an Asian girl who has a conservative Asian family and live in a developing country, this is almost impossible. I can get deported back to my country even before I can explore the whole country, it's sad.

I am doing a very similar thing now. I worked like crazy as many shifts as possible for 10 months as a receptionist at a small hotel. so that now I am traveling to Europe. it is not a very great achievement here because I am from Israel and Europe is not far and flights are cheap. The reason why it has become so incredibly important to me, is the years that I was forced to do in the army, which is 3 years long here, insanely long, insanely busy, insanely unpaid, basically slavery, and my desire to leave to other countries and explore the world just grew stronger over time.

I liked the video, she is amazing. But, she could be a super model, clearly in the 1% in the looks department and her personality is full of confidence. Can she quit her job, come back and quickly get another one? In a heart beat. Most people are not in that category, and it’s telling that she doesn’t seem to recognize that. What she misses also, is with a normal job, people come back, after work and don’t think about it. I’m an entrepreneur like her, and there isn’t more than a few minutes that go by, that I’m not thinking about a way to make money. Self promotion, takes a lot of time and energy. So many people in the comments are not seeing what I'm seeing. They are using "don'ts" & "no's". If you'd just flip your perspective & not immediately be defensive & cynical you could then see the "what" & "why's" behind her words. I highly encourage you to watch the video again if your default was immediately emotional or pessimistic. Your greatest asset is your mind & most people are not trained to spot gold.

This gives me some hope. It was my major as well, but I didn't learn a thing.
