One thing they don't explain in the episode but it's kinda important: Doctor Fate's power level depends a lot on how compatible with magic his host's body is If the helmet was being worn by a magic user, Fate would be at his peak; but when he's in the body of people like Wally who doesn't have even the slightest spark of magic, Fate can only use a certain level of magic If he was at peak, Fate would've washed the floor with Klarion

Before they created Kaldur for this show Garth was the original Aqualad in the DCU. He was an original member of the Teen Titans (Along with Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, and Speedy). Tula was his GF and was also a member of the Teen Titans under the name Aquagirl

Batman playing basketball with Robin instead of being overly stern with him was the highlight of that episode. At the end of the day, Batman may be a mission driven man but he cares about his kids. "The Batman" is just as much a stage character as he is the real person, so I like how he dropped the voice and actually smiled at that moment. I like to think he learned from Alfred's example, he knows Alfred probably would've sword duelled him as a kid to make him feel better

Abra Kadabra is such a weird villain, even by DC standards and they have a guy called the Condiment King. He is a time traveller from the far future with access to technology that makes him a threat to entities like Superman and instead of becoming the next Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, or Bill Gates; he robs banks, dressed like a stage magician, while pretending his future gizmos are magic.

DC has a hard time distinguishing their "high tech" stuff, so it probably makes a lot more sense to give this character a gimmick than try to explain how his stuff is more advanced than Waynetech, Krypton tech, Apokalyps tech, New Genesis tech, Impulse's future tech, Reverse Flash' future tech, the Blue Beetle scarab tech, etc. At a certain point the word "tech" become meaningless and all the technologies no matter which planet or hero or time period are just as effective as the other.

This version of Klarion is EASILY the best addition to DC that Young Justice made. Changing him from a "Witch Boy" obsessed with the occult to an actual *Lord of Chaos* who serves as Dr.Fate's opposite is BRILLIANT. And just to emphasize how powerfull Klarion is, a Lord of Chaos can literally manipulate time, space and even reality to a degree on top of having immense magical power. And Klarion in this continuity is likely among the *stronger* ones. Literally only held back by the fact that he's just doing this cause he's bored and is very easily distracted. Making him, ironically, the easiest Chaos Lord to deal with. Also its worth noting that the Lords of Order & Chaos are neither good or evil. All that matters is the balance. Even Fate, both in this show and the comics, is kind of a *d!ck* a lot of the time because he's more concerned with the cosmic balance rather than the people who's lives he might be ruining by acting or NOT acting.

Helmet of Fate is honestly terrifying. Especially in the comics. Once, they tried to get rid of it by hiding the Helmet in a remote location in the middle of nowhere. And you know what the Helmet did? It started compelling anyone close enough to find it and put it on.

I love the "I have my studies" moment, because Kaldur did the exact same thing Robin did in Santa Prisca, disappearing and leaving the group (or in this case Garth) behind. The big difference being Robin expected everyone to follow his lead, while Kaldur knew Garth wouldn't. It shows Kaldur is learning from the team just as much as he's learning from the League training.

It's definitely why Kaldur became the leader when Robin was more experienced, that older maturity he has makes him more flexible when working with others, whereas Robin only knows how to operate with Batman so far and forgets not everyone is as well trained nor provides the same tactical advantage.

Magic is VERY real in DC. Also, at least in the comics, EVERY religion and mythology is correct at the same time. Yes, they contradict each other to the point they should be mutually exclusive, but they are all real. Somehow.

Klarion is a real menace, that's for sure. He is a Lord of Chaos, a primordial being that causes destruction, while Doctor Fate is a Lord of Order, a primordial being that fights chaos and restores order. But you will see that Klarion is actual quite tamed when in comparison to the other Lords of Chaos. And Nabu also stands out from the other Lords of Order.

For context: While the comics sadly never really show it Dr.Fate is probably one of the earths mightiest heroes. People like Superman are strong and gifted with insane abilities, but Dr.Fate is almost in a league of his own due to his connection with the lords of order. Klarion is probably the first proper big bad villain of Young Justice in the comics. There, he actually reversed or sped up the age of every single hero on earth, which made the young justice members adults (minus conner due to being a clone), the Justice league became teenagers (do yourself a favor and look up "Batboys" Panels in this event, they are filled with glorious edgelord-esque dialog) and the Justice society of America (DCs first major super hero team) got turned into kids (Minus Star-Girl who got aged up into being an adult) The other wizard with Klarion the witch boy was Abra-Kadabra, He is considered a Titans villain, but he is actually one of Wallys personal arch villains. Like, Abra Kadabra is the reason even we got Wallys successor as the Flash, Walter West (The "Dark Flash"), at one point due to Kadabras time travel shenanigans, and the ways he tries to get rid of wally are truly insane sometimes. He can be more vile then the reverse flash, which says something. Also yes, in the comics, Garth was Aquamans first protege. This show basically sped up his evolution, because, in the comics, when him and Aquaman split Garth decided to become a scholar of the mystic arts, which eld him to adopt his own super hero identity as the subwater sorcerer "Tempest".

YES! Atlantis episode! It is one of my favorite in season 1 for the world building, and as if that wasn't already great, we get to see this is a good Batman who cares about his adopted son like a father should! One thing I really love about episodes like this is that it reminds the audience that there are cultures and characters having their own lives and arcs going on even when the show isn't directly focused on them... though too much stuff having happened off screen or off panel can be a problem. Edit: and in action oriented shows, downtime is a crucial thing to have sometimes. Just let the characters breathe and advance personal arcs with interactions instead of combat.

So here's a bit on the three new characters from episode 7: I won't say much about Klarion's backstory, only that, while unambiguously a villain in this show, in the comics, he is more of a neutral entity and prankster having fought against the comics' version of Young Justice but also having been a part of heroic teams like the Seven Soldiers of Victory as well as Justice League Dark, the Justice League for the magical side of the DC Universe. In the comics, Abra Kadabra is a Flash villain from the 64th century who uses advanced technology to pose as a sorcerer to the people of the 21st century. He eventually joined the Rogues, a group of Flash villains with their own code of honor. However, he later betrays them tricking five of them into selling their souls to the demon lord Neron in return for him getting real magical powers resulting in him becoming a member of Neron's Inner Council alongside Circe (who sold her soul for the power to defeat Wonder Woman), Doctor Polaris (who sold the soul of the other personality inhabiting his body to become the sole person behind the wheel, so to speak), Luthor (who sold his soul for renewed youth curing his cancer) and Joker (who sold his soul for a box of cuban cigars). However, in later appearances, he seemed to have somehow lost his powers again going back to technology. While among the less used Flash villains (compared to others), who still managed to achieve an average of two appearances a year since his introduction in 1962. Madame Xanadu, real name Nimue Inwudu, is an actual sorceress and seer in the comics. In fact, she is one of the most powerful sorceresses around (though she was stripped of most of her powers for a few centuries in the pre-Flashpoint era), being an immortal who knew Merlin (their exact relationship depends on the continuity) and had wandered the world for centuries. Pre-Flashpoint, she was also the sister of Morgana La Fay as well as the Lady of the Lake (the latter being an ancestor of a certain John Constantine). Though in both continuities, she is moreso acting as an advisor as well as in other supportive roles to the magical community, especially, though not exclusively, towards the different magical heroes such as Zatanna or the Spectre.

It's not like Magic is super effective against Kryptonians, it's just that they don't resist it. Superman is as vulnerable to be turned into a frog as any other random person. But if you magically conjure some lava or fire, it will affect Kryptonians as normal lava or fire would.

Aquaman's brother is the villain called Ocean Master, the one from that tale Kaldur's friend told about how the former became Aqualad. Ocean Master puts on a façade as the supportive brother to Aquaman, while conspiring to take the throne. The one villain you saw working for the Light on that attack is Black Manta, one of Aquaman's nemesis.

All Quantum characters are like that! Captain Atom, Manhattan, Adam, etc. (actually not etc cus I think it’s just those three). Manhattan turned magic into science. Atom physically grabbed the speed force, souls and magic as a tangible thing. Adam took Superman, turned him into a conceptual energy then uploaded him into a machine in a higher dimension. Those three are practically unlimited in power, only restrictions are what limits they give themselves. At one point Captain Atom became the quantum field (which is like… insane) and stopped Death as a concept. Manhattan has returned from atomization. Adam walked out of his comic into our world. Pretty sure the quantum dudes can do basically anything they want, their only real ‘weakness’ is they still perceive themselves as human to an extent. Like Manhattan could be everything. Everything everywhere everywhen by spreading himself out. He should be able to mimic what Adam does too like speaking with readers or casually becoming vastly higher dimensional.
