What most folk do not understand, and our governments deliberately supressed, is that comparatively few folk will die quick and fast, as that the thermal pulse from large hydrogen bombs is MUCH bigger than their lethal blast radius (so you suffer terrible burns) And the firestorms and fallout would kill WAY more people than a "quick fry/squish" death ~ Major cities with military targets would get hit by multiple nukes, so almost no one would survive because the firestorms would engulf the entire region in minutes and suck up all the oxygen ~ Current nukes though tend to be smaller and cleaner, also, much less of them today than in the 70s/80s, but if yer in or near LA, London, Washington etc...yer stuffed

While your instinct might be to jump into the pool of water, it's a potentially fatal idea for a couple reasons. Water is much more dense than air and is thus able to transfer the energy of the shock wave more efficiently, depending on the blast and distance it could possibly be enough to rupture organs; and even if it's only enough to make you pass out, if you're in water when that happens, you will drown. If it was empty pool though, for sure, take cover inside it; but if there's water you're way better off with other options.

Re: Bunker People. I looked into how many people we would need to have to have a safe population and avoid inbreeding (because I was looking at info for space colonies), and we'd need a minimum of 5,000 unrelated people /mated pairs starting out to have a safe population. With space colonization, we could probably start out with less so long as we planned to keep resupplying and adding new colonists. But if you're not getting new people in regularly, you need a population of 5,000. If you want to check an interesting real life case of a small population, native Icelanders are apparently closely related to about 50 percent of the population. They essentially have an app to help you avoid hooking up with your cousin, so that you can check that you're not too closely related.

That Pompei scene is a bit wrong. The bodies in Pompei were not preserved as bodies but only as bubbles of empty space under the ashes. The actual bodies to be seen in Pompei are of plaster that was poured in the cavities by archeologists, the original bodies had simply evaporated and the body shaped bubbles were all that remained.
@toomanyaccounts5 ай бұрын
ahem the plaster casts were done because the biological remains had deteriorated. in a nuke fire the body is carbonized and the blast wave after just blasts the charred body into dust. if the pressure wave was deflected by a building than a carbonized body could still be there depending upon the weather conditions after.
@tomaskoptik20215 ай бұрын
@@toomanyaccounts Was checking the Hiroshima accounts and you are right. Still...such a remaining body is not completely carbonized, mainly on a surface. Completely carbonized body crumbles into white ashes as observed in Hiroshima. Anyway, you are correct, such a scene is possible for people around the epicenter but not directly in it (surface carbonization). Still...the carbonization is acompanied with radioactive decay and I am not sure any of these bodies would be still there/intact after 200 years. In Pompei the bodies were burried under hot lava and ashes leaving mostly empty bubbles after them. These bubbles are what kept the body shapes intact otherwise there would be no remains left at all. I am not sure there would be anything left of the carbonated bodies after 200 yrs as this carbonization is a decay process and not a preservation one. But it´s just a movie show and it plays with a scenario that is not so deeply explored to say it is not possible, especially with different types of bombs and conditions. But even though I feel the scene is a bit questionable for me a) it´s not a big deal given the lack of scientific info b) the show is good anyway :)

@@tomaskoptik2021 reality can often be weirder than fiction. so a few bodies remaining centuries later as an solid ash figure out of the lets say hundreds of millions to billions of people that were carbonized is not impossible. would have seen lots more of them in the first years after the nukes before weather etc destroyed the ash body. Plus environmental conditions could have hardened the carbonized body. Heck dead people sometimes in a year or two fossilize or mummify under the right environmental conditions than decay into a skeleton.

The cousin thing is an American prejudice (great-cousins is allowed in the USA though), odd sicne there were far fewer settlers as a base population and people from different countries usualy only married amongst themselves, same way as the Azkenazi Jews did in Eastern Europe. In Europe, marriage and procreating among cousins is legal. It's making kids with your siblings that's not allowed due to incest laws. Bu for humans, the starting number you need for a genetically viable population has been estimated by geneticists as 350 adults. At least that was roughly the number of Polynesians who arrived in and settled Hawaii or New Zealand, as clan records record the number of shipsthat arrived and only a limited number of people plus lifestock plus seeds fit on those ships.

I remember Love Death Robot, there was an episode about the 3 robots and you just need a couple of nukes to **** the world.

Watched episode one my only two small nitpicks are. A) little too much slow motion. And B) I really wanted to have the vault door have that horrible ear piercing metal on metal scraping. Other than that I love it and lost my shit at the junk gun😂

I have the same Brownie camera from the beginning, it’s a Brownie Hawkeye from 1949-1961. Also Kyle Hill just did a video on the “rule of thumb” and it doesn’t work, if you’re too close, the heat would burn you instantly and the blast wave would reach you within seconds. And the razors in the boot haven’t made me cringe that hard since the nail scene in Home Alone
