Hey fam we wanted to clear the air due to seeing some comments over the past few videos that think some of us are maliciously misgendering Raine. This is absolutely not the case and for those that have been long time members of our community you more than likely know we support LGBTQ+ rights and always have. We don't tolerate people who don't and that has always been the case before, during and after The Owl House Reactions. Unfortunetly all of us grew up for decades with never knowing about trans or they/them pronouns, etc... This requires a bit of deprograming on our end and learning to use proper pronouns without mistakes. This is something we all do our best to do but Unfortunetly without many Non-Binary characters in media we don't generally get to use they/them pronouns frequently. This series was a huge stepping stone for all of us and I know I can say for myself (Ruff) that I have personally become way more comfortable utilizing they/them in a sentence where it was hard in the beginning as its not something I'm used too. We are trying, we are doing our best and all we can do is state that. For those that see that we are trying thank you. For those that regardless of our attempts are mad at our mistakes we apologize and will continue to do better in the future.

Yeah. I can tell it's accidental and y'all are trying. The comment sections of vids related to OH can get chaotic over the pronouns. Some people are watching in countries where they gender Raine as he or she so it can be really confusing for those folks too. It's awesome this show is helping people to be more natural using they/them. Hope y'all peeped those paintings by now...😂😎

It kind of reminds me of at the end of Amphibia where the 3 stones deity made a "copy" of Anne before she died. It is her, but, is it really? Except though you are a clone, you thought you were a different person or something, but no. Are you even someone else? Are you just a blatant copy of someone who already existed, with nothing else to your entire self? Do you even matter? Needless to say, Hunter's panic attack was a completely reasonable way to act. Honestly, I am surprised he bounced back from his existential crisis so quickly, good for him. Edit: Oh yeah, and the only being he had who was actually healthy for him at the time was Flapjack, and well... 🫡

The revelation of Phillip being Belos wasn't' surprising. The declaration he was a Witch Hunter though, that made all his actions make sense and really was a good scene. I realized what Raine was doing the moment they showed the scene with the soda. When Raine first drank the tea from Terra, they made a whistle when they blew on it, but at the time I just passed it off as a quirky bard way of doing it. Learning that they can actually change a liquid with it suddenly made it make a ton of sense.

31:01 This isn’t the first time this has happened, but Hunter very clearly flinches out of reflex/fear when Belos goes for the key. While this makes me feel even worse for him, it makes me wonder just how he got his face scar/ear notch. I and I’m assuming a lot of other people figured Belos was the cause, given that Hunter has experienced Belos physical abuse beforehand but I’d still like to see a memory of the specific situation. Really would like to see that in season 3.

funny fact we learned from a livestream with the crew: flapjack named themself/was named by their previous owner. hunter has no idea what a flapjack is. (the crew did a livestream for charity and during it, they had three different officially voice acted scenes. there's hunter's palisman observations, luz's diary entry, and lilith's letter to hooty. i would recommend listening to them when you watch the shorts because they're pretty good and give interesting insight to the characters. people have uploaded them to youtube)

There was no RIFT between Eda and Lilith before the curse The reason she cursed is because she thought it would be only for a day as in it would be just like someone cheating by tying the opponent's shoe laces or smthing.. She also was a child. and made immature decisions.. then she joined the emperor's coven because Belos promised to cure Eda as in Lilith want to undo the mistakes. and Eda as a wild witch.. ended up being in different sides compared to Lilith

No they were on the right path, this episode highlights how the rift started. We can see that Lilith really wants to get into the Emperor's Coven, pretty obsessively. We see that she's memorizing and studying at every opportunity, while Eda is not, and is goofing off. We see Lilith feel a bit insecure when Eda answers her study card questions with more knowledge than she has. And we know this insecurity was there, because of how Lilith speaks about Eda in the finale of season 1. Lilith has an obsessive fixation or complex with needing people she admires to validate her worth. We can infer this comes from how she was treated at home, with her mother dotting on Eda more. Likely cause she was the youngest, and Lilith was naturally independent and "so self sufficient". And ofc when the curse happened that feeling was magnified. We also see that while naturally gifted Eda didn't really care about the coven and simply wanted to be near Lilith, her big sister and only friend. You can see that when in the lunch room Eda wants to spend time with her sister, especially after not seeing her while at camp, but Lilith doesn't have time and goes off to study more. Leaving Eda a bit sad, and alone. Then Raine shows up. So yeah we can obviously see there were issues between the two before the curse, but the curse just made everything so much worse.

The fact that Caleb genuinely loved his younger brother, was able to overcome his prejudice, and fell in love with a witch; makes him a hero in my eyes. It shows that no matter how many Grimwalkers Philip keeps making they all have Caleb's compassion and kind disposition. No wonder they all made a stand against Philip in the end.

Philip is from 1600's New England. Witch prejudice was rampant in those days, and Philip was a huge proponent of that. When he got trapped in the Boiling Isles, a place full of magic and very real witches, he tried to eliminate them so that he would be celebrated as a successful and powerful witch hunter back home. Based on the paintings in Belos' mind, as well as a few other pieces of evidence, we can piece together even more of the story. He came to the Isles with a brother, Caleb, who wasn't quite as passionate as Philip about terminating all witches. He even met a witch and fell in love. Obviously, Philip felt betrayed, and when they were alone together, Philip murdered Caleb and created a clone, or a Grimwalker, to replace him. Every time, the new Grimwalker would betray him. It's unclear exactly when this started or how long each one lived, but it's been hundreds of years. Somehow, Hunter is the first Grimwalker to escape. The amount of information this episode gave us, directly and indirectly, is absolutely insane

The Whittebanes must have been so prominent because of their supposed connection to a witch, Evelyn, and when they disappeared they were honored with a statue and a spooky story for hay rides

the whole story of Belos/Philip is in the pictures/Memories in the bg in Hollow Mind This is all based on the images and it only.. NO SPOILERS FOR ANY EPISODE AFTER EPISODE 16! Basically through the pics.. we can see that Belos's brother looks like Hunter aka Hunter, the grimwalker/clone is based off of him. And it seems like Philip and his brother entered the demon realm.. but while Philip hated magic and witchcraft.. his brother fell in love with a witch(Who seems to be pregnant).. so he tried to convince his brother magic is bad by craving glyphs to himself and showing the destruction.. but his brother still accepted him and magic.. so in the end he killed his brother and it seems like the witch(the one his brother loved) put some spell on Belos. Also a pic shows Belos carving his ears off to look like a witch.

I thought the runes were there to ward off the witch's curse, but your depiction makes sense as well since he is shown completely black in two frames like a monster for no real reason (except perhaps to show how estranged he is from his brother). That the runes could be the reason would also make sense.

Think about it: Philip is from Connecticut (Luz mentions she lives there in an episode) in the 1600s. He’s literally a puritan from the time of the Salem witch trials, right in New England. It’s no wonder he’d be a witch hunter

This episode pretty much gave us all the pieces to the puzzle of Belos/Phillip, mostly in the form of the memory paintings. From his childhood with Hunter's ortet to him cutting his ears into the pointy shape to be able to pass for a witch. As for his motivations, they're perfectly clear: He is literally a witch hunter from the Connecticut witch trials in the first half of the 17th Century, who is playing an extremely long game to exterminate witches and magic - both of wich he views an fundamentally evil in his puritanical protestant mindset (the religious implications are obvious but are left unspoken, because this is Disney) Belos is really a very simple villain, but an extremely effective one. Not every villain needs a sympathetic backstory or complex motivations.

There wasn't a rift bewteen Eda and Lilith. We saw with previous episodes how Gwen gave more attention to Eda and how Eda is naturally more talented and smart AND she works hard. Lilith felt inadequate and didn't get enough attention from her mom. So for EC trials she knew Eda would best her, but it was Lilith's dream. So out of desperation she cursed Eda. She thought it was for a day, so Lilith would win and get mother's attention and would feel accomplished.

Hollow Mind is my personal favorite episode of the series. So many theories were confirmed, great animation, great pacing, we got to learn about Belos past, Luz and Hunter bonded more, plus Hunter is my favorite so that made me like it even more. It’s hard to say anything that hasn’t already been said a million times, so I’ll just keep it simple and say that hearing Hunter tell Flapjack he loves him is adorable. It was a sweet moment in such a heavy episode.

Fun fact about Flapjack: his name is so hilarious because Dana Terrace was a worker on Gravity Falls. The creator of Gravity Falls (Alex Hirsch), the creator of Regular Show (JG Quintel), AND the creator of Adventure Time (Pendleton Ward) all originally worked on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. Lil Gideon’s voice actor is even Flapjack’s creator and voice actor! Four objectively great shows all coming from a cult classic of Cartoon Network that nobody appreciated till now.

You were guys are basically right about Phillips brother (Caleb) Caleb fell in love with a witch (most likely a clawthorne) and that angered Phillip leading him to actually kill Caleb. it’s shown in the photos in the mind scape, there’s one of Caleb with a witch and Phillip watching them with an angry face, and another photo of the brothers looking like they’re fighting each other.

When Time Travel gets introduced into shows, it can really muddle a lot of stuff up. But the way Owl House habdles it, doesnt make plot holes, but actually solves them! An example is that Emperor Belos knew exactly where Luz was, and could go after her and Eda at any moment he wanted, but thanks to the Time Travel, he had to let her be free until then. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to help him in the past. Its an odd detail I picked up that is perfectly explained this way! Its just incredible how finely tuned the story of the show is

Okay since y’all missed the photos I’m a just go ahead and tell what the photos was about and what it showed that y’all missed in this episode.(I’ll also send them in the discord server) 1:We saw that belos had a brother that looked exactly like hunter! So we know that hunter is a grim walker of belos brother. 2:We saw that belos brother found a witch that opened a portal for them to get inside and showed them magic. Belos brother walked up while belos stayed behind holding his mask. 3:there’s also a few photos of them close together as Kids. Belos brother showing a knife to him that looks similar to the one he used to carve his skin. 4:we see a witch girl chasing after belos and using magic on him 5:There’s a image of him holding a knife and looks like carvings in the skin. I think maybe he used the knife he has to carve the glyphs into him. 6:We see belos in his goop form but he’s also more human then he is now while in the goopy form. His brother is hugging him closely as if comforting him. 7:We see belos going to bones borrow while his brother is still with him. It seems belos brother has introduced a female witch that he might be dating. 8:belos catches his brother and the female witch walking together somewhere. She looks pregnant or has a belly bump atleast 9:belos is in his goop form and looks angry. He ends up attacking his brother while the witch is near by 10:We see belos and his brother ready to fight. Actually, I think Dana confirmed that putting glyphs on his own skin is what’s caused both his weird goop magic and his need for palismen. The glyphs consume their magic instead of consuming Belos’ body

So there is a lot of backstory here in these episodes I just write down what we can see in the pictures in Belos'/Philip's mind ( I wouldn't say this is a spoiler 'cause you can figure this out if you look at the pictures and fill in some blank spots, but if you want to figure it out yourself then don't read this comment). Philip and his brother are from the 16 hundreds when they got transported to the Boiling Isle. My guess is when the two found a real witch (a witch from the Isle) they told them that they were curious about magic and wanted to learn it. The witch took them by their words not knowing the two were witch hunters. After arriving in the Demon Realm the brother started to learn about the world and people. Soon he started to like his new place and grew fond of the Isle and it's inhabitants. So much so that he fell in love with a witch (don't know if it's the same witch that brought them there) Philip wasn't happy. Their whole plan was to fight the witch problem at it's root and now his own brother joined the witches. Philip decided that the best way to get his brother back was to kill his love. However his brother found out and instead of being angry his brother tried to reason with him. He wanted to show Philip the beauty of the Isle with all it's weirdness and how wonderful the people there were, that they aren't that different from each other. Instead Philip grab a dagger and killed his own brother, mad at him for saying witches deserve to live. The brothers love found out/or saw what happened and curesd Philip, enraged by the fact her love was killed. (the reason why he has to consume Palismen) Philip then found a way to use magic for himself the create a Grimwalker (aka a clone) of his brother. However these Grimwalkers would always find out what Philip was planning and turn against him. Whenever Philip discoverd that the Grimwalker of his brother is "betraying" him he killed them of. (The scene in his mind with the broken golden masks showed this. Hunter had to see all the different ways Belos/Philip killed him (his clones) over and over again And that's where we are now.

In hollow mind what people don’t seem to notice is these two things. 1. This episode only taught us one thing that hadn’t been given evidence to which was hunter being a clone of Caleb. Belos being Phillip was obvious due to his voice sounding like belos and him absorbing Palisman. 2. Despite not learning much this episode was about the characters learning about important stuff more than the audience

Something y'all forgot from season one is Eda outright stating that she had to work harder than Lilith because she's wild. She never went in for the Coven system, and had to figure everything out on her own. Eda was the strongest witch on the burning isles not because she was talented, okay not just because she was talented, but because she loved magic and threw her whole self into learning it.

Hollow Mind really is a tonal shift in a season full of episodes basically yelling that something big is coming isnt it lol. Can't wait to see what you guys think of the final few episodes. Also since Owl house is almost over and you guys already started Amphibia, if you're looking for another show I might suggest something like Kipo and the age of Wonder beasts. Its on Netflix and an honestly undertated show that I'd lump in with Owl house and Amphibia in terms of quality.

Humans are terrifyingly good an conquering and domination, which Belos/Philip has been able to do to the Boiling Isles. Literally what thousands of years of warfare and infighting does to a species. i have so much extra details that make it so much more messed up evelyn and caleb traveled between the demon realm and human realm and used a symbol that symbolizes their peace and love for it phillip stole that symbol and turned it into a way more in depth and messed up meaning (which is now the emperor's sigil) flapjack's scar is from trying to protect caleb from phillip's attack phillip has a jar of caleb's blood to create grimwalkers (because that's one of the ingredients)
