Same, its very plot focused, and the plot itself is very grounded. Sure, some people have powers here and there but nothing insane, kinda like AoT, there is odd things but its very human centered

86 in a way does make for a good starter anime for people who write off anime because they have waaaay too much fanservice. This is probably why AOT is so popular right now even for casuals who’ve never watched a single anime before.

AoTs first season puts people off unfortunately. It's good but not for an unfortunately large amount of people. 86 is quickly interesting as well. I dunno I like both.

86 is one of those shows like Cowboy Bebop, kekkai sensen or even Redline where you can just show it to someone whose never seen anime before and the quality of its story and characters can draw them in, no trope knowledge or familiarity required.

In college, a friend got me back into anime (since watching naruto and Inuasha as a kid) with Plastic Memories. HOLY HELL WAS IT DEPRESSING, but it was all dialoge, and was amazing. got me hooked back in, and while I am more an Isekai fan, it was a great starter anime because of the emotional response

frederica pointing the gun at her head was double effective because 1, whatever was left of kiriya would want to save her life above anything else and 2, the legion need brains to make copies of, so saving her also became the immediate goal of the morpho's brain as well

i want to say this anime has ONE season it was just a split cour just like the jujutsu kaisen anime like everyone BEFORE the tournament arc with todo and the special curse hanami the tree spirit yknow THAT is cour 2 of the jjk SEASON ONE so the same is with 86 the 1st cour was 12 or 13 eps then it took a 2 or 3 month break I MIGHT BE WRONG bout the month gap then it started again and stoped cus of production issues and the final 2 episodes came out march so yea just lettin yall know

i think 86 would be a good inclusion in an anime starter *pack*, not necessarily as THE starter series. it'd be a great recommendation for someone who's only recently started getting used to watching anime through popular genres like shounen. to show them that there's more to see, u know?

Th guts of Frederica to take herself hostage in front of the biggest and meanest dang Legion chassis currently known... if her abilities don't traumatize her beyond her limits, nerves like those are going to get her far in life. And human Kiri was not a good feller. He fought the people who rebelled against the government, who unleashed the Legion upon the continent for conquest, with the same feral ferocity that Shin would use to fight the Legion. When he thought the last of the bloodline was gone, he wandered into the Legion to willingly contribute his brain to their army. An army now bent on eradicating every single country on the continent to the last soul. Yes, he was kind to Frederica when she was even younger, but kindness to one person doesn't outweigh the raging inhumanity to others. He was a monster before he had armor composite for legs, liquid metal wings for arms, dozens of legs, reactor for a heart, and a railgun of a caliber to match a world war 2 railway artillery piece.

The only reason why I wouldn't recommend 86 to newcomers is the fact that the first 3-5 episodes are very confusing. They throw a lot at the viewer and only slowly explain what's going on. So I can see that being very off-putting.. or rather.. hard to grasp if you aren't used to it (I don't think normal shows and movies do that to this extend, but it's been a while since I watched any of those so maybe I'm wrong)

Anime recomendation for people starting anime... I would first start of with Hayao Miyazaki films. Or Makoto Shinkai. What comes next would honestly depend on the other parties age. 86 is a good show but the first confusing episodes make it a hard pick as a starter anime. Kind of reminds me of Mo Dao Zu Shi where you just need to live through the first two episodes of "what the hell is going on?"

86? No I'm not sure about that. 86 is Compact and more of a Show not Tell type of anime. It could melt a New anime Watchers brain or someone with an Iq below 10 like CDawgVA. 86 is a Masterpiece with alot of Layers id more recommend it to a Long time Anime watcher or the Average Anime fan like myself.

Sorry I was with H-Man on this one on first watch through... because its less expected. I mean we saw what Fido survived and they are a robot... so if they wanted to merk a character they could of with him already. + knowing the story went beyond the anime kept me from doubting. But we will see if I was wrong.

This is sad but that not means I wouldn't recommend it. It is full of emotions and something that will make you see a story instead of first timers of anime thinking it is childish stuff that only little children see. I recommend it 👌
