If anything, Ahsoka could’ve prevented Anakin’s turn, if the OG triology didn’t exist, and weren’t made first. I always felt Kenobi was too by the book, and he only took care of Anakin cause Qui-Gon wanted him to, and the relationship with Padme was always just physical attraction to me. We never got a proper emotional, long, and deep conversation between Ahsoka and Anakin in the clone wars, with Ahsoka expression her feelings, fears, and thoughts as a young teen girl, child soldier, padawan to the chosen one, and closest witness to Anakin’s dark tendesies, not to mention living by the jedi code, not forming attachments, and not being able to act on emotions like love and intimacy. I would love to see and hear Ahsoka struggle with these things, to make her more human and relatable, and not just a capable warrior and faithful padawan.

Fun fact with the lightsaber length question: Yes, they in fact can change the length at any time! It's a knob that's somewhere on each lightsaber. It's why Vader, in most cases, has a slightly longer blade due to his added height from his cybernetics, or why Yoda's is so short for example. (Yes his handle is smaller but that doesn't mean much for the length.)

How come they refer to Ahsoka as “they” when she first shows up, when she’s clearly a girl? Just curious, cause yeah, she’s an alien, but still almost a human girl, and the movie came out in 2008, long before pronouns were really a thing. Just like somebody else who complained about “Kira” in death note by default being referred to as a guy. That show is from 2007, and even though, spoilers, the 2nd Kira is a girl, it’s very unlikely for a girl to, concurrently, be genius level smart, have such twisted morals and ethics, and care enough about world peace or domination, for it not to be be a male.

Speaking in regards to the lurmens refusal to fight even to defend themaelves, i do think it was important for the show to address. The lurmens are now under Republic control. The Republic becomes the Empire. Imagine what probably happened to this planet as a result? At best they got wiped out and fighting with tye jedi bought them a decade before extinction. At worst, enslavement or experimentation

Clone wars, and star wars in general is made for kids, they would never notice snow falling slowly while clothing it moving cause of the wind, and movies cheat like that all the time, like ater in the episode when they have a fire burning, the creators literally answered in a behind the scenes DVD what they’re burning in the fire, when there’s nothing to burn on the planet. That’s why adults are so boring, they focus on meaningless details and need to know and explain everything, just keep your childlike innocence and fantastic wonder, and enjoy the show, no wonder so many people get depressed as teens and adults, just stay in your own little world, and don’t care about the serious real life stuff, at least as much as possible, much healthier, and you can’t do anything about it anyway.

I think the main point of the arc is to draw parallels to the Jedi. By fighting in the war, the Jedi are degrading their values, which ultimately contributes to their downfall. These episodes premiered early on, though, and it's clear the showrunners weren't yet settled on the vibe the show should have overall. There are other episodes that come later that do a much better job of making these points, I think.

3:17:14 i believe the lore reason for the poor aim is because of production quality, because a lot of clone trooper AND stormtrooper equipment was mass produced it had a variety of flaws, its why some clones shoot better than others because they've lived long enough to know where to actually aim to hit.
@QuanTumm1357
@QuanTumm1357 Ай бұрын
Also this is still in Phase 1 armour era so it gave good protection against light blaster shots and debris but was very cumbersome and uncomfortable. That’s why they switched to Phase 2 armour since they had more clones and could afford to trade a little protection for a little extra comfort, manoeuvrability and individualism.
@sandorfalusi3486
@sandorfalusi3486 Ай бұрын
Bad aim is a meme at this point and the creators know it. In New Hope at the beginning aim was just fine, when the empire attacked Leia’s ship the crew fell left and right. And then Obi Wan said that the Jawa sandcrawler wasn’t attacked by sand people because the aim was too good, and it was probably stormtroopers. But then during the escape from the Death Star the stormtrooper aim suddenly turns to crap. But it is addressed in the same movie, when both Leia says that they let them go, and then Tarkin confirms it later. The stormtroopers were ordered to shoot bad. But all everyone remembers later is that the stormtroopers have bad aim. And so the meme is born.
@XionDarkblood13
@XionDarkblood13 Ай бұрын
So, irl reason they don’t mess with sabers is the writers just don’t do it and it could be really op. In lore reason it’s basically “dishonorable” to do that shit. Even Sith think so. There was a dark Jedi who did, Exar Kun, he made a sick lightsaber that could do basically all the cool stuff. Extend to twice the length, shorten to half, intensify the beam to cut through beskar, reduce the power so lightsabers pass through it. It was a normal size handle but also a double sided saber. He was, arguably, the greatest lightsaber duelist to ever exist and he didn’t really like using any of those tricks because he prided himself on being so good. Basically if he felt a duel was boring or he was getting frustrated he would use his lightsabers extra features. It also makes choreography for lightsaber duels extremely weird. You would have to invent a very strange fighting style for weapons that extend and retract and disappear at will. It wouldn’t be very cinematic and look really awkward. Sword fighting in movies is a classic trope that is understood by writers and audiences and messing with the formula that much would be difficult. Jedi are actually extremely dangerous with blasters as well, but as obi-wan says, the Jedi and Sith consider them “uncivilized”. The ability to use the force to predict a targets movement and all external factors make a Jedi marksman extremely accurate and deadly but Jedi are not about offense and a blaster is for killing people. Sith think it’s too boring and killing should be done up close. There are examples of each in legends lore but really those things would make force wielders even more over powered than they already are.
@ncard00
@ncard00 Ай бұрын
Almost all stories don’t do the obvious thing to get quick results for plot reasons, like jedi just force choking or force pulling at then stabbing every opponent who’s not a force user themselves, just how it is, shows the weakness of human emotions, compared to cold, calculated AI logic.
@EmberQuill
@EmberQuill Ай бұрын
Honor is part of it, and I believe that's the official lore explanation, but honestly I think there are so many ways that trying to be tricky with your lightsaber could backfire horribly that most Jedi and Sith probably wouldn't bother. Swing "through" your opponent's lightsaber by reducing the power or switching it off or whatever, and now you can't block so you better hope you're a lot faster than your opponent or you're doomed.
@XionDarkblood13
@XionDarkblood13 Ай бұрын
@ iirc, Exar Kun used the force to control it at essentially the speed of thought. It was physical “switches” but he used the force to manipulate the mechanisms much faster than the traditional on/off switch on the saber itself. He was extremely overpowered and they had to use trickery to trap him on Yavin IV. Ultimately though it’s a narrative can of worms no one, not even me despite loving the concept, wants opened. It just ends up being “why didn’t X just increase the length of the saber to do Y?” ad infinum whenever a writer wants a duel to have tension. The fans do this enough with the vagueness of the force already, so they don’t need another avenue of that. Even if it was explored in a single one-shot story it would raise questions no one can answer. Canonically Vader has the ability to adjust his saber length on the fly he just doesn’t. It’s a cool idea that will cause more problems than it’s worth and would lessen lightsaber fights in the long run.

(The whole Thrawn trilogy is a masterpiece if you guys are into books or audiobooks) Dave Filoni is a big fan of Zahn and decided to use the Marg Sabl in this episode. Fun fact, there is a R2 vs R3 bossbattle in the clone wars lego game. The game is amazing btw, stays very accurate to what you see in the show while being very fun. One of the best features is the large scale battles that you can participate in, where you command like 20-30 clones and ride big vehicles. Would highly recomend you guys play it, one of the best lego games ever

In that outpost episode, where Ahsoka fought Griveous, and he was about to kill Rex, it mirrors exactly when Anakin and Kenobi fought Dooku in attack of the clones, and Anakin jumped in and saved him, only here Griveous pulled out another saber, instead of kenobi throwing his to Anakin for him to use 2 against Dooku.

One thing that is difficult to portray on screen is the various ways the Jedi use the Force. When blocking blaster bolts, it's not about the Jedi's reaction speed, but his connection with the Force. In novels it is described as the Jedi just concentration on the connection while letting yourself go with the will of the Force. It is what is moving them to block, or dodge. They many times are not aware of how long they have been doing the activity or sometimes even what is currently happening. Some other powers are morale boost to allies, coordinating and organizing large troop strategy, endurance boosts, sensing life forces and emotional states, beast empathy and communication, and aura reading from objects and places. There are more across all the media. Some just don't show easily.
@Mrryn
@Mrryn Ай бұрын
I mean that's fair, a lot of media don't go into the expansive powers capable through the Force especially from Legends sources or things seen in the games. That said, their weird hangup on Jedi deflecting blaster bolts with ease is one of the worst examples considering that was there since the beginning in Episode 4 with Luke training with the blast shield on the helmet down. And again in Episode 5 with Yoda teaching a bunch of toddler younglings using the same method. Allowing the Force to see beyond your sight and both enhance and guide your movements is one of the few powers they've actually illustrated very clearly. The guys are just airheads. lol

3:17:22 Well 1) The Jedi literally have minor precognition through the Force. Some stronger than others, but you literally see it with children and with Luke when he's first learning - they are trained with blinded vision to deflect blaster shots from a training droid. They aren't reacting to the blasts as they are being fired but seeing them ahead of time and responding appropriately. 2) The Force also can enhance your physical abilities even for short bursts. We see these guys jump up to incredible heights, leap from the stratosphere and land on the ground unassisted, superspeed down a hallway in the opening scene of Episode 1, and Yoda, normally needing to use a cane, can the next second start leaping and flipping like a green Sonic the Hedgehog. Not sure why "enhanced reflexes" is such a hard sell. And 3) Remember Order 66...enough aimed shots at close range can still kill some Jedi pretty effectively. So it's not 100% especially if they have the element of surprise.

Quick space lesson: a system, meaning a star with planets, both in star wars and in real life, is always named after the name of the star, or if there are multiple stars, the biggest one, or commonly the biggest twin stars, like the closest star system to us, alpha centauri, which is why our system is called the solar system, no other system has a star called the sun, only our star. And the reason the the malevolence could fly so close to the Abrigardo star, is cause it’s a red dwarf star, much smaller and cooler than our sun, but it can be more active and violent on the other hand.

You guys keep wondering why this wasn't released in chronological order, and if I remember correctly, when episodes in the same season weren't in order, it was just because the later episode was finished first, hence released first. The reason for arcs jumping to different seasons because sometimes, Lucas or Filoni just wants to make a prequel for an already finished episode.

3:21:52 Yeah Luminara...you really had that, didn't you? "Amateurish and sloppy," yet here she is under a pile of rubble about to die (ironic, knowing the episode with her Padawan...) and needing to be saved. I believe she is a good person but Master Luminara is the perfect representation of everything wrong with the Jedi at this time. Overtly good people with good intentions but way, wayyy too lost in the sauce of strict dogma. To the point where they are genuinely arrogant and dismissive of people "below" them - whether that's younger Jedi like Ahsoka or ones with a "less Jedi approach" like Anakin. Ahsoka literally warned Luminara about Ventress and offered to help but was downplayed and her concerns completely dismissed. Same deflection occurs with her and Anakin later. Even some Jedi who treat the clones under their command as subhuman, numbers to be utilized. Too many Jedi, especially in high positions of influence, missing the forest for the trees. Hardlining the Code so much, becoming some stringent, that they lost the basics of what the Code is meant to accomplish: to protect the innocent and life in the galaxy, stand for justice, and exercise genuine balance in patience, wisdom, and compassion.

One of my favorite things about this series is how you get to see everyone learn and grow but become super jaded. The Clone Wars only lasts 3 years and as crazy as it seems, in season 1 Anakin is 19 and Ahsoka is about 14. By the last season, Anakin is 22 and ready to become Darth Vader and Ahsoka is 17 and has to watch the only family /friends she’s ever known be destroyed by the man who essentially raised her. And the craziest part is that Ahsoka is so clearly a version of Anakin that was properly nurtured. As lenient as Obi-Wan was with Anakin and as much as he loved him, he still put the Jedi order first which clearly played a part in Anakin’s downfall. Meanwhile Anakin trained Ahsoka the same way Obi-Wan trained him but also made sure not to completely stifle her emotions and empathy for others, he helped her keep her humanity (for lack of a better word) and imagine if that had been properly done for him

My uncle actually worked on the Clone Wars before it was cancelled on CN back in 2012. The reason was actually because certain things usually didn't line up to make them work. Either the episodes needed more work (usually technologies needed to be more fleshed out to account for more assets being used in the animation) or they would finish one episodes production ahead of another and would change the order (this is why the Clovis arc happens in Season 6 instead of during Season 5 after the Ahsoka arc, also why it has 20 episodes instead of the usual 22.) There was one episode I do remember George specifically adding just because a throwaway character that he liked, I believe it was the one that ending up being Savages third episode where he kills King kutunco? Episodes per season changed in season 7 afterwards because Disney wanted to move forward with new, post-lucas content (that's putting it mildly, it took a lot of lobbying and personal initial funding from filoni and plinkett if I remember right to do a brief aninatic for it, which was the trailer the released teasing Season 7. Season 6, obviously, is a compilation of episodes meant for Season 6 that was finished prior to cartoon networks cancellation and Disney's buyout of lucasfilm and star wars. Netflix picked up the rights and was allowed to air the finished episodes, and for a time they released this season as the lost episodes which had a bonus feature of a few unfinished arcs (sound and everything was completed, though the animatic never made it past preprod.)
