@@PhilBoswell Lol might want to do some actual research on the side effects it can have. I live in the U.S where activated charcoal is banned as a food additive or coloring agent. If you're taking medication it's a HUGE risk for your health. I'm not saying never use activated charcoal, it's not the worst thing someone can ingest especially when you're aware of what it does when put into your body. It would be nice though if huge channels like this mentioned somewhere the potential risk of ingesting activated charcoal.

Lol, I once ordered a pair of cupcakes which had as much frosting as cake. I was expecting some sort of frosting that was like the somewhat airy stuff at the store; instead it was like eating straight-up butter mixed with sugar to the consistency of a very thick caulk. I have never understood the charcoal thing, it adds no flavor and it is nutritionally (and if you take medications) bad for you to ingest as it absorbs things when eaten... Which is why we use it for when people eat poisons or OD on medications. If you just want the black color... Squid ink if you want the organic black.

@@SilvaDreams Have you seen the prices on squid inked food thou? It's outlandish. Also normal everyday non activated charcoal doesn't have that much (still large, but significantly less) surface area, and if you are eating fancy pants dishes you probably aren't malnourished. As for medication, yeah, eating charcoal can mess with your dosage. However it's hardly unique as all sorts of things needs to be avoided when on various medications. No reason for the rest of us who don't have those restrictions to pretend we do.

I'm a simple man, I see the use of charcoal in food and I remind them to be VERY CAREFUL because activated charcoal does not discriminate on what it absorbs and WILL affect your medications!!!

Barry - I saw a tip for piping bags, fill the bag without a nozzle, then take a second bag, fit a nozzle, cut the tip of the first bag and pop it inside. It means you can use one bag of filling/icing, and change nozzles halfway through if you need to! Plus if you forget to put a nozzle in your bag you can pretend you planned it all along...

I'm honestly so happy that Jamie won. Let's take a second to consider Jamie's progress over this year alone. He's been more consistent, organized, and prepared than he was in the past, by a long country mile. Yes, he still needs to work on his creativity side to cooking (why he doesn't do so well in Pass-It-On's) and his plating is still, well, Spaff'ed. But still, he's been improving so much. Barry and Mike being upset that Jamie beat them is funny to me because Barry has been more uppity than usual, but still hasn't really shown any dedication or improvements, and Mike just needs to scale it back a bit. Also, Jamie being so confident in his cupcake NOT being too savory and being right is amazing. Love it. Also, there really is no question as to why Jamie has been leading with the Chef's Badges. He may not have the creativity, but the way he keeps improving, he might be actually the first normal capable of working in a real restaurant kitchen. He might be slow at first, but the way he's going, his comment from the Celebration Pass-It-On about wanting James to actually think he'd have Jamie work with him comes to mind. Lol

I think while they got a good choice in winners and places. There is definately a difference between the distinguishing tastes of a chef..and what the oridinary public might want. I'm going to say in the end that the safe option from Mike will be the winner in sales. Unless one of the other options wows someone so much that a customer pushes it hard as so amazing.

This was actually an edge of your seat video...the girks were fabulous, pulling no punches and it was a fantastic element. I actually cheered for Jamie's win at the end!!! Surprised Mike came third with how amazing his cupcake sounded like it tasted but can also understand tha maybe he wasn't quite pushing the boundaries as hard and the creativity was celebrated highly. Overall, three outstanding entries...will be amazing to see how they go in the shop!

I’m so glad Jamie won. I’d have chosen his cupcake too. Mike’s sounded nice, but his was very close to the C&D-version and if you can’t take a cupcake out of its liner, then sorry Barry.
