It's so easy to get superhyped over something just working out, when you spent some time and effort into making it work. First time I made lava cakes, I'm pretty sure I had a similar reaction. Just something so satisfying about it actually being cake, not underbaked and then a liquid, rich chocolate center. Had the same feeling when I first made a creme pate for eclairs; just couldn't believe how it tasted exactly like in the gorgeous eclairs from a pastry shop.

Kinda wondering if this could have been prevented in some way. I mean, the issue was obviously that the curd was denser than the batter and just sunk to the bottom. Now, if Mike filled up the form half-way and then first placed something like a wafer before the dallop of curd and the rest of the batter, it might have stayed in the middle.

The macha and yuzu with berries was a nice twist on the lava cake concept and I just really wanted to see it succeed. Some passing ideas for any videos: Every time Barry leaves a hob on, he loses the ability to use the hob for a few minutes. Every time Jamie does a Jamie move, whoever he is up against gets to copy that same move. (could be a power move or not) To help them not complain so much with each other and how things may not work out so well, a constant relay switch every 10-15 minutes between the normals and they have to say something to nice for whatever the last person has contributed to their dish. Bonus if the others don’t know what the main person was aiming for and surprise at the end. All in the pass it on relay have a limited amount of items to pick for their time cooking, and they can’t go over it. Like 1-3 items. 3 course meal of chosen failed dishes, solo in making like the Valentine’s Day video. Bonus of each one attempted a dish they failed on the worse.

Dear sortedfood I'm a newer fan and I want to give you a heartfelt thanks for giving me back my inspiration to cook. I have fibromyalgia, so most normal every day tasks are very painful for me to do. It still hurts to cook, but you have given me the shove I needed to push myself to cook 1-2 times a week, instead of a full week of ready made storebought stuff. Which in itself is painful, cause I'm actually a very good home cook, and even went to chef school many years ago, but was unable to finish due to pain. I have to say Mike gets the shaft all the time but he’s always the one going the extra mile or trying things out of the box. He doesn’t do the typical recipe that’s been tried and tested for centuries. I didn’t see Ben eating anyone else’s so joyfully. Mike, you’ve got my vote.
