I recently read an article about drinking tea and coffee on planes. Apparently the water tanks are neither cleaned nor treated. They are as unsafe as the machines at McDonald's. So having your own, especially on a long flight could be a good idea. 😊

@@dianacfleming uhh, why? theres no rule against electronics on a plane and itll easily fit in carry on. youd have to buy the water after security and some airports/airlines dont allow any water on board, limiting its usefulness, but its perfectly safe to fly with.

I could imagine that hot water dispenser coming in handy in plenty of situation. A library, an airport lobby while waiting between flights, a train station. I don't know if motels are common in the UK, but they're super common in the US and a lot of motels don't have kettles/coffee machines. As for hotels, most US hotels have coffee machines, not kettles, and you don't want your tea or cup noodles tasting like old coffee residue. In the US, we have a lot of parks that have pavilions with power outlets; you could toss this in your backpack/laptop bag, go to the park, and have tea with your book or work. That being said, I'd never buy one. Not only is it too expensive, but I'm a silly American and I only drink low quality cold sweet tea from Arizona cans 😎
@helenswan705

Nope, in UK, kettles are universal. We don't understand how you Americans manage without them.

I feel like, wherever you could take that thing, you could just as well take an old-time submersion heater (which is a third of the price). And with that portable flow heater, you probably have to pour it out before packing it away, too. Also, as a practical person, I'd just bring a thermos of hot water if I know I'm gonna need it.
@AngryAlfonse
@AngryAlfonse 46 минут бұрын
@@helenswan705 because we don't drink tea lol. Like, 90% of tea drank in the US is cold sweet tea, which we brew in bulk in large pots before storing in the fridge. 🤷

I know this concept is crazy to people in the UK... but most hotels and motels have microwaves... you can microwave water to get it hot. Also, most have free coffee (even cheap motels) which also has hot water dispensers attached. The one use I could think of for it would be a dorm room, because it's more compact that a kettle or microwave so saves on space. The unfortunate thing is that it's more money.

The water heater is simple: I can guarantee that device was designed and produced in Asia with the Asian market in mind specifically because there are places on the continent with strong supply chains and access to power but no potable running water built into the local domestic infrastructure. Drinking water comes in bottles, full stop, and this is an easier way to heat it up for beverages rather than use a stove or microwave or whatever.

Is it really easier than pouring the water into an electric kettle? This seems way more faff and way harder to clean than a bog standard kettle. Also I don't know about East Asia/South East Asia, but here in India, in cities where 'drinking water comes in bottles, full stop' they don't come in 1 or 2 L bottles. They come in 20 L bottles, on which we attach a dispenser. Inserting this pipe into the bottle would be more of a pain, because I would have to remove the dispenser - than dispensing some water into a kettle.
@MrThedennisblack
@MrThedennisblack 10 минут бұрын
But that doesn’t in any way address the actual criticism of the product which is - why not just use a kettle instead? Whether or not you have running water is irrelevant. You can use bottled water just as easily in a kettle as you could with this thing.

Having a specifically fun shaped waffle iron is a great novelty for a family with kids or children at heart. Years ago my mother got really into Pokemon Go and got a pokeball shaped waffle iron, and had a blast with it. I'd imagine this would serve a very similar case for kids who love Lego (or off-brand) blocks.

Watching Ben absolutely lose his cool when Mike uses the tongs on the table suddenly gives perspective on a lot of throwaway remarks from older videos... That was a little scary 😂 I feel like there are probably other products in the market that solve the problem of heating water on the go, which are less bulky than a regular kettle and battery-operated. 🤷‍♀ The egg separator is just good fun, and again if you're trying to bake or cook with kids, they would have a lot of fun watching the eggs, just like Ben, Mike and Jamie did. 😂 I want to watch Barry and Kush use that waffle maker and build something fantastical. Build enough waffles for it to actually be used as building blocks. Reminds me vaguely of old-school sorted videos like the sandcastle cake. 😊😊

I've seen that egg separator on tiktok before, being used by someone who separates at least 5 dozen eggs at a time and I remember her saying that if she's using the egg whites for merengues, and one of the yolks breaks, she has time to move the egg white bowl out of the way before any yolk gets in, which is interesting. and then of course she has to clean the whole thing before continuing.

Places/situations to use the 2nd item: (1) Dorm rooms (2) Your bedroom if you are sick and being isolated from the rest of the house (3) If it has a car outlet adapter it would be useful for road trips.

(4) A train, many trains have plug sockets but certainly no kettles!

@@threetoast Yes, but the shape makes for easier storage, which is great when you are limited on space.

Why wouldn't you just use a kettle in your dorm room or your bedroom? Or use a kettle in the kitchen, fill up a thermos? Only place I see any use is if space is at a premium and you want the option of a kettle without the normal bulk.

The second gadget is actually very useful in long train or car trips. Pretty good.

I feel like the water heater could be great for parents with young children (Jamie made me think of it). You could pull it up in a public bathroom and have a bottle of formula ready at the perfect temperature in seconds. And it can easily fit in the stroller bag. Edit: Possibly 45°C is a bit too hot for that, though...?🤔

The “kettle” would be ideal in caravans where you are dry camping and using your electrics off your leisure batteries and not attached to mains hookup.

Honestly the egg separator would be brilliant around the holidays when your egg nog from scratch, making pies or cakes, or any sort of large friends or family cooking And the waffle maker would be brilliant for making finger food platters and dipping sticks just put a weight on top if you want even waffles
