I loved the international hot sauce poker face video because that video truly showcases the vocal range Ebbers has 😂😂 he’s notoriously known for having a dislike for spice in general, but as the rounds went on, his voice got higher and higher, sounding prepubescent again and the best thing was he struggled with round two, so knowing he had two more rounds which were even spicier meant we’d see him struggle through even worse challenges 😂

I love both natto and century eggs, but having had them since childhood definitely helps. Having more soy sauce, wasabi and rice with the natto softens the blow for the uninitiated. For the century eggs, you shouldn't really have them alone. They're best in a pork and century egg congee as mentioned (Hong Kong style). I also really love them paired with chilled silky tofu in soy sauce and topped with green onions. I've also had my share of stinky foods (stinky tofu, very fishy fish), but even then I'm not sure about surstromming.

I discovered natto only 2 years ago and century eggs too. I love both and I didn’t grow up with them (European). Honestly I think that people are overreacting and I don’t understand why. Both are really nice. On its own natto is delicious, subtle, but a bit of mustard and soy sauce takes it to another level. Century egg is nice on its own too, but I do prefer to eat it with a little bit of garlic / chilli / soy.

I bought some natto to see if it was that horrible because they tend to be such wimps with spice that I thought maybe they were overreacting to that too....and I wouldn't say I loved it, unfortunately. I think you need to do more of these, but with a twist. Make all contestants try each ingredient simultaneously. No timer, whoever breaks poker face first loses, last man standing is the winner. The contestants can all experience it together, and talk to each other about it while they eat it, some strategies could come into play whereby players may choose to say nice things about the food to add to their poker face, or try to say things about the ingredients to gross out their opponents. I think it would bring a fun new dynamic into an already very entertaining series of videos you have going here.

Highlight of the video: “MYFDEYUHBJRDGIGOO.” aka Mike trying to string a sentence while trying not to gag but somehow gagging.

Nattō is actually very good with sticky rice and a soft boiled egg on the side cut in half. The runny egg yolk really helps to cut through the slimy texture

The way Mike clings to the wall whilst Barry gags is EXACTLY how I would react to a friend barfing. Double torture!

Ehh nobody eats it raw that way though. Burn it over open fire to get more smoky grilled smell. And you get the boom of flavours when you cook it

Ah man, you should have given them “Hongeo”/“Hongeo-hoe” (홍어회; 洪魚膾). It’s a type of fermented fish dish from Korea. Hongeo-hoe made from skate and emits a very strong, characteristic ammonia-like odor that has been described as being "reminiscent of an outhouse"..

"Promotes the growth of probiotics" is one fancy way to say "Is covered in bacteria." The Natto looks like when you leave rice to rot on the stove for a couple days.

I love century egg in congee! When it's just an ingredient it's really good, but it's a bit strong for me to just eat a slice. I feel the same about natto -- I don't mind the texture but I like the taste best with all the fixings, and wouldn't be able to just eat it straight (but you're not supposed to!) Haven't had the other things though.

So, about ten years ago I was a exchange student in Sweden and we had a celebratory lunch with the people who funded the trip. The smell hit us on the corridor, they were going to serve the beautiful delicacy of Surströmming. So there I sat in between men in their 70’s trying to have nice small talk in a foreign language and trying to decide whether the taste or the smell was the lesser of two evils. I survived and probably didn’t insult our hosts that bad, but I have to say it was the most awful food experience I’ve ever had and it almost ruined all fish for me. So if you ever get the chance to try it, I couldn’t recommend it more.
