I haven't seen anyone say this here, but in the wild, prey when they are truly cornered will jump towards the predator in order to have a more painless death. That's what Haru was doing, by trying to place herself inside his mouth and putting her head in reach of his fangs first.
@SwordTune4 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's why. When cornered, an animal would try to fight for the chance to live rather than die. It's also to use surprise. They're not aware of it, but suddenly lashing out can shock even a predator. When analyzing animal behaviour, we have to look at the simplest explanation before we assume greater machinations behind their decisions. Why does an animal jump at its predator? It's better than doing nothing.
@SadBirbHours4 жыл бұрын
That's not actually true. Rabbits do tend to just up and die when confronted by predators but that's almost always due to a stress induced heart attack.

@SadBirbHours4 жыл бұрын
@@luisjauregui2197 Again, not true and there's never been any confirmed cases of this, animals have engaged in self destructive behaviour but theres been no real evidence to suggest it's to avoid stress or anything else for that matter. @vampireghosteyesvc4 жыл бұрын
kyuokuo I don’t think that’s the case because I’ve never seen or read of animals doing that from a reputable source, however I will say this: The only reference I could personally find of a rabbit doing something similar was in the book Watership Down by Richard Adams, and even then, what is described is different than what happened here. Here Haru’s instincts forced her to basically jump into his mouth, while in Watership Down, Adams describes rabbits as “going tharn” which is them basically jumping into any direction out of fear, and inadvertently, ending up under a car’s wheels or in a predator’s mouth. That’s from a fictional book though. Animals don’t have an instinct to commit suicide. They will try almost anything to survive or be mentally stimulated and sometimes those instincts will end up getting them killed or hurt but that’s different from actually wanting to die.

Let’s talk about foreshadowing this season: Early on, during a school play, Legosi violently confronted a tiger who was using rabbit’s blood to dope for a performance. He fought the tiger but was not able to vanquish him. It fell to Louis, the Grim Reaper, to end the tiger. And now here we are, many episodes later... the events of the Adler play foreshadowed these events.

My personal favorite part of the series is the juxtaposition between Legosi saying "I can never understand what it is like to be inches from death" while literally in the jaws of a lion. It's this neat call out that the series does to itself that makes you take a step back and consider what is going on a little more complicated than what is being shown on the surface and lets the viewer know that the characters are unreliable narrators.

I also love the back and forth between Haru and Legoshi. Haru gives him control when they get into the room but when he tries to kiss her she shrinks back and focuses on his shirt instead. Then Legoshi takes control to share his truth with her. Although, while taking control he also gives it back to Haru by letting her decide what she wants to do with that info. Then Haru gives it back to Legoshi by the end and let’s him choose. Both are aware that both feel vulnerable in different ways and both are fighting their own vulnerabilities. So they essentially dance around each other and I just think it’s great because it shows just how far both have come. Haru could’ve had control but gives it to Legoshi. Legoshi could have folded but he decides to go with it in the end. It’s great!

That is why he went full suicidal, saving Haru and gets his final victory on the ultimate predator, then asking the lions to eat him like the prey he is
@carsson1234 жыл бұрын
She feels so indebted/thankful to Legosi to the point she actually offers him the option to consume her either sexually or carnivorously. She is still left unresolved herself, tho, so she returns/surrenders to familiar scenarios and "solutions" of the past, Sex (with Louis, for example) and Death (Legosi), clearly jumping the gun and not being able to identify and respect the type of singular relationship she has with Legosi and where/which step they are at the moment. Legosi is NOT the one who's on a "(carnivorous) high" right now, SHE is. She is transferring(!) all her male references and experiences, carnivorous or not, to Legosi - thus not respecting his individuality and his personal brand of love and care for her but mostly his vow NOT TO EAT her. «Our true selves are FROZEN IN TIME in this position» She knew it was Legosi back then but she still hasn't learned how to love others/HIM (other than sexually) since then. She is repeating the patterns of behavior she presented to Legosi the two(!) times she “first” met him (in the park - surrender to Death; and in the Gardening Club - Sex as an offer, as an exchange for one’s life). She is STILL missing all the nuances of Love that can happen between those two options. [Legosi can certainly help her with that part of her Emotional Education.] She did seem to gain some appreciation for her existence when she fought back against the Big Boss but now that she's yet again confronted with another (sexual) carnivore she chooses not to run away physically but EMOTIONALLY and even existentially instead by surrendering herself BOTH to Sex and Death. Legosi must give some of this authority she has bestowed to him over her own life back to her - by (re)turning the “Will you sleep with me or eat me?” proposal to Haru, for example, or by contradicting it altogether and presenting her with a brand new more emotional and personalized relationship proposal, since they are clearly not ready for Sex and the interpersonal respect and self-control it entails.

Back in episode 8, there was an important scene with Louis that was briefly shown, but mostly cut due to wanting to keep a reasonable run time. When Bill cut Louis on accident, Bill took him to the back room to help tend to his wound. While alone, Bill kinda said some stuff that Louis took offense to, being called weak for being a herbivore. Bill didn’t really mean for it to sound rude, he was just speaking bluntly, and he also mentioned that he went to the black market (called the Back Ally Market in the manga, and was called the Ghetto in early fan translations.) Bill said something about “finding out Louis’s secret,” which I’m still not entirely sure what he meant. Louis thought he was talking about his passed as live stock, and proceeds to pull out a FUCKING GUN on Bill. Bill was saying he wanted them to see each other as equals, but Louis help Bill to the ground with the gun and firmly told Bill “we aren’t equals”

If you are too hyped for the boss fight, you are probably missing out on the atmosphere. While on the physical level there is a very violent and bloody fight happening, the sound track "Legoshi's feelings" is slow and his internal voice is very serene and introspective. Legoshi finding inner peace is worth paying at least as much attention to as the fight that is happening. Of course you touched on it but I really like the contrast of how Legoshi is supposed to be a scary violent predator, yet even in a situation like this he beats himself up about having to fight and hurt people tries his hardest to avoid killing. And then we have the supposedly weak prey Louis who does not waver or hesitate to murder bad people, stone cold. General tip: Don't take fan subs so literally. Haru might have though "He won't let that night end so easily", but it could also be "Fate won't let that night end so easily" or in the english dub "I guess I won't get away with all this that easily". You guys definitely make some of the best reaction videos out there. Love how invested in the stories you are and how much you discuss them.

So it's an old video, and it's far too early in the morning, but I just felt it had to be clarified, cause it's a confusing as hell scene if you don't stop and think about what we know here. Haru thinks she's compelled to climb into Legoshi's mouth, because she's stuck in a situation where her instincts are still telling her to flee. She's in a fairly high pressure situation, but because it's a sexual situation, she feels she's got it handled. She's experienced when it comes to these things. What she isn't experienced with, is dealing with how to handle her instinctual fight or flight reflex, which is probably something she's going to have no problem overcoming, considering the night she went through. So she thinks, anyway. However, in the scene, she's kinda pinned to the bed, with Legoshi looming over, and that bit of mouth opening is all it took for those instincts to kick in. Now, obviously she can't 'flight' when big wolf boi has her pinned to the bed, so the only real option is to 'fight'. Note that she puts her arm into his mouth sideways, which would in fact *NOT* be a particularly good way for an animal to want to minimize it's suffering and die peacefully (a thing I'd originally bought into as well, but is nothing more than fiction. No evidence of rabbits ever doing such a thing exists, and the fable of that happening spans back centuries, to old world folklore.) Instead, she's shoving her arm into his mouth sideways so that he in fact cannot eat her, as she's now blocking the majority of his mouth, and would in essence be forcing him to chew through her arm to continue the attack, at least as far as her instincts are concerned. It's a desperate attempt to save her life, in a situation that doesn't call for such a response. To her though, having never experienced these things, she just says the first thing that comes to her mind, because within a society where devouring *isn't* the default interaction between these two species, a defensive motion like that wouldn't make sense to her. It wouldn't be the first thought to enter her head. Hence, she thinks of herself as weird, or she says 'Hey maybe this kinda thing just happens?' It isn't a situation that two people engaging in something consensual would run into. It'd of been nice for them to go back over this later on, but maybe we'll see some of that kind of discussion happen in season 3.

@@MillyKKitty Yep that scene. I didn't remember if he actually picked it up or already had it. Either way, thanks for clarifying.

What really bothers about all this stuff is haru, while haru was with legoshi at the hotel, she was still "compromissed" with Louis, yet offering herself even though her feelings are not even close to what Legoshi feels for her and even in the manga, it's clear that she never actually felt really in love with him, the same way she felt for Louis. All the relationship with her and legoshi, always felt very superficial to me.
@JTaylortrois4 жыл бұрын
I think I understand what you mean but I think a lot of that is because Haru isn't really open about her feelings, even with herself, which additionally makes it hard to convey her feelings to the viewer. The main characteristics I associate with Haru is a preoccupation with being consumed and with "The Truth". Being the only person able to see Louie's true self made her feel like she was in love but other than that their relationship was actually pretty superficial. With Legoshi she also has that same connection with his true self but I think what makes their relationship really work is that Legoshi also exposed the truth about Haru to herself which is that she actually enjoys flirting with death.

@@JTaylortrois because of per perpetual victimhood complex of hers, she has been hurting/demaging so many male, some of them who probably legimately like/care about her, who probably didn't see her as a frail lilltle bunny, but because of her victim complex she always project that idea on her partner and probably missed the feelings the guys were trying to pass to her and end up hurting them, but she never ever even stopped to think about it. At this point, I wouldn't find it strange if she end up hurting legoshi very deeply too.

@Tum Tum yeah, that was bad wording on my behalf, i meant that the moment that they were brought up, he had fake antlers and he mentioned to leave nothing but the antlers, i wasn't trying to imply that the ones that he has now are fake. Again, just bad wording from me XD
