small note on the hiratsuka scene: while the subs show Hachiman saying "goodbye, ms. hiratsuka" in the japanese he only says "sayonara sensei" and not hiratsuka-sensei. in other words; he isn't saying goodbye to hiratsuka, he is saying goodbye to her role as his teacher.

This show is perfect, masterpiece, no less. Incredible. This ending really shows how every single character grew, when they come together and make something that should be almost impossible look easy, because they've grown, not only as characters but as people, they've matured. There's no weight on the new prom because there's no need to, and that is a result of everything that happened throughout the show. It's about the characters and this episode shows the result of their relationships. Also, this "I love you" in the middle of chaos and work is so coherent and perfect for them. After they finish the work and she asks all the work and says just one more thing, aaaah it's so good!!!!

I'm a Japanese fan of anime and Oregairu is one of the best ones I like ever! I really enjoyed and was impressed with you guys discussed the feeling, action, intention of characters in detail. It's like watching the anime in real-time with you guys, like, you guys are Sherlock Holmes of anime! Here, I'd like to recommend Steins;Gate. This anime is another my favourite which kinda integrating deep psychological motion and the essence of Sci-Fi, so I expect you guys will have a really nice discussion!

The Iroha-Komachi interaction at the prom may actually be my favorite moment in the whole series. I've always viewed Iroha as some sort of "Komachi at school", because they basically interact with Hachiman in very similar ways: they both understand Hachiman very well, and most of their interactions with him are about them trying to steer/manipulate Hachiman in the direction they want him to go in. In fact, I wonder if Iroha wasn't created in part because the author realized that Komachi was one of his best characters, but had limited impact in the story since she couldn't be at the school, so the author decided to create a Komachi-like character who was indeed at school. As for the Iroha-Komachi interaction itself, what a blood bath... Komachi casually attacks with "hey, the 3 years thing means that you're talking about yourself", Iroha tries to counter-attack with a nickname only to have that turned on her with Komachi saying "why don't I call you big sis?", with a subtext of "you know, the thing you want to be, but know you likely can't", and then Komachi finishes Iroha off with the most mind twisting insult-compliment of "I guess you're trashy enough for my brother, didn't even think that was possible...". It's just such a massacre. Iroha is one of the most heavily defended tanks in the game, but Komachi immediately spotted a chink in her armor and just eviscerated her...

You know, no matter how many times I watch this anime, getting to re-live it with reactors is always like the first time I saw it. Now older and bitter, this just doesn't pluck at my heartstrings, it rips them. Even so, I welcome it. It's here.. Sundays aren't gonna be the same without Oregairu to look forward to now... :( My lowkey favorite moment of this episode is Iroha and Komachi finally meeting. I wish we had gotten to see those to interact earlier. They seem like the perfect chaos duo. However, my highkey favorite moment of this episode has to be the Hiratsuka scene. Such an awesome big sister/teacher/surrogate mom/cool aunt/whatever-she-is character. She's all of those things. She's just amazing. I only wish we had gotten to see her find happiness on her own as well - whatever that means for her. Seeing her be so proud of Hachiman has to be good enough though, I suppose. There is apparently gonna be an OVA in the future or something since there is some continuation after this in the LN but every single LN reader I've ever spoken to fucking hates it so I may just choose to listen to them and not watch that when it comes out. I'm content with this being the final finale and I don't need any more drama for dramas sake.

It ended... and the ending was perfect, but I feel that emptiness inside once again and the sadness is too real, but I’m happy that it happened. I really wish the reaction would have been longer, there’s a insane amount of callbacks in this episode that you didn’t talk about. I'll write about it for the last time and then it will be time part ways. I’ve watched this show so many times that I can make citations and tell from which episode and Volume came from, I will never forget it. I know that people will come and say how Shin ruined everything, so I'll say it in advance: It didn't for me. Shin is not over yet, depending on how you feel about it, it could be worse or it could be better, as for me I still wanna read it. Also Vol 14.5 is quite g00d, It surprised me. The only thing that make me a bit sad is Ketsu, because I don't care about it but it will take a lot of time to complete.

Well to me shin kinda killed yui for me and the possibility of a wholesome friendship with yukino. As for ketsu I had hopes for it to be something more but sadly is just a continuation for ANOTHER and that was disappointing. Guess will have to wait but for me the series ends in volume 14.

I'd say my only real issue with this ending is I feel like it not only could have, but SHOULD have continued on a bit longer past this point. The characters in this show have enough going on that they absolutely could carry a season post-confession, and I feel like Yui's character arc would've benefitted from it especially. The end of this episode reassured us that she WILL be ok and her arc will resolve, but it feels like it ended without getting to actually see it happen.

As always the notes will be in the replies, but this time I’ve left some closing words at the end, as a thanks for the bros’s reaction and to all the viewers who enjoyed this ride with Oregairu. P.S. ================= 1/15 The day after (Excerpt from the novel) - There’s a small missing scene before the start of this episode (see novel’s notes) - Yukino is usually the first to come to the club (save in S3E2), the fact that Hachiman arrived first tell us that even if he’ll never admit, he was eager to come, also Yukino was surely feeeling awkward and embarrassed and probably took her time. - Yukino tosses the key of the club room to Hachiman. The ones who have read all my ramblings so far, surely know the importance of these keys. The last time we talked about it was at the end of S3E8, but even before they keys are often mentioned, for example in volume 6 (S1E12), Vol 8 (S2E4 and S2E5), Vol 9 (S2E7), Vol 12 (S3E2). Also the title of S3E2 is literally “I had never touched that key until today”. Remembering all these moments the scene when Yukino toss the key to Hachiman is so meaningful, so much that it pains me that most of the viewers and even readers won’t realize how important this is. This scene symbolized how Yukino finally let someone else get an hold to the key of her heart. (More on that on Novel’s section ). - For the whole series, up until now, Hachiman and Yukino always sat at the opposite end of the table, now they’re sitting next to each other, so much that they even get embarrassed as they lock eyes. It’s no wonder that not only Iroha, but everyone else too understood immediately what was going on. - Hachiman now “is drµnk” (part 1) Haruno told him that he could not get drµnk in S3E2, and repeated it in S3E10, I’ve already covered what that mean, also Hachiman himself said it to Hiratsuka at the start of S3E11. There’s a couple of scenes in this episode to show how now Hachiman can indeed “get drµnk”, and the first one is when he and Yukino are planning the prom. Hachiman is puzzled about the location of the prom and Yukino have to explain it to him, but you should remember that S3E6 he was the one who came up with the idea of making the prom outside the school because it was a joint school prom. He’s also surprised that it’s held at the beach even if, as Yukino point out, it was himself to launch that idea always in S3E6, when he write it on the whiteboard. (Continued in part 2, found in section 2). - While preparing to use the laptop Yukino finally put back on the glasses that Hachiman gave her as a gift in S2E10. The last time we saw those glasses was in S3E5, as she refused to put them on in a childish but defiant act to avoid getting any help from him. The fact that she wear the glasses once again is the first sign that she have grown past her insecurity, as she’s now confident to accept help. The his theme will be clearer later in the scene outside the sauna.

======================= 2/15 The date (No spoiler) - My Hayami Saori favorite performance is when Yukino ask if the photo is g00d to Hachiman, this woman is so talented... - My Takeya Eguchi favorite performance is when Hachiman rapid fire compliments Yukino in his head at the start of the date, and when he react thinking that Yukino is talking about marriage. - Yukino hairstyle is from S1E6, even if it’s slightly different (the twintails are lower) Hachiman is referencing that time. Of course Yukino choose the hairstyle on purpose to make him remember it. Re-watching the date they had back with the knowledge of the full plot, makes you really understand a lof of things you may have missed on the first time, especially all the times that Yukino is nervous, fidget and even blushes, as she cover her nervousness with her bantering. She even admitted that with teary eyes in S3E8. - Hachiman from S1E6 (around 9:58 of the episode): “Her boyfriend’s the last thing I wanna be” Hachiman from S3E12: “Hold up, She’s adorable. Oh man, how is this possible? She super cute.” I so love it… - Yukino link arms with Hachiman to take a selfie together. Besides the cuteness of the scene I would like you to remember how many times Yukino said “you’re too close” when someone tried close contact, one for all was in S2E9 at the start of the episode when Yui sit close to Yukino, but there’s many more instances. Here is Yukino herself who take the step of getting closer, which show how she’s finally able to express her feelings freely, even with all the romantic awkwardness of 2 people who are truly in love for the first time. - Hachiman now “is drµnk” (part 2) The scene when Hachiman is thinking that Yukino is talking about marriage is wonderful, not only because is hilarious, but also because it have more than one meaning. We can say that both Hachiman and Yukino are quite favorable to the idea of marriage, and so this is a clever way to show what will happen without using a time skip. About this interpretation the novel go even more deeper as the two of them even talk about their future (see last section). The second interpretation, more meaningful for the plot, is that now Hachiman is finally able to get swept by his own feelings, he doesn’t read between the lines anymore (as he said in S2E8), he practically takes what Yukino says at face value without any doubt. Using Haruno’s words, he’s finally able to get “drµnk”. The purpose of this scene is to show how much Hachiman have grown, as the old Hachiman would never have let himself to be swept by the moment, and all thanks to Yukino’s influence on him. - Even if the date scene is only a few minutes long, please notice the difference in lighting between the start of the date, where the sun is probably at noon considering that’s March, to the end, where it’s the sunset. They spent all day together even if the official motivation was to search for a place to hold the prom. - I love how during the whole episode Yukino is smiling and beaming happiness as she never did before. It’s so refreshing and at the same time it might make you think that now is a complete different person, but in reality she’s just the same, the only difference is that now she’s finally able to be herself out in the open. Now is the time to remember a phrase that Hiratsuka sensei said about Yukino in S1E2: “Deep down, she’s a kind soul. She’s kind and quite often right, but this world is neither a kind nor a righteous place. It must be hard for her to live here.” Really Hiratsuka sensei knew from the start what was behind Yukino’s mask. Also this is directed to everyone complaining that the characters have changed too much, the author made it very clear from the start that what you was seeing in the beginning was nothing more than masks, and this story is one where they will be finally able to be themselves.

===================== 3/15 Prom Preparations (No spoiler) - Yumiko: “We didn’t come here for your sake or anything, you know.” Yumiko now is a full blown tsundere, as we understand when Hachiman says “Did you ask them to come?” and Yukino denies, meaning that they indeed came on their own will to help Hachiman and Yukino. Yumiko tsundere personality is even more evident in the novel as she have an additional scene where she show her kindness (See novel section). - Caleb ask if Yui is suppose to be coming around 7:00 mins. Yes of course she was, at the start of the episode Yukino said she would call her, and this scene is there to tell us that she actually did call her, even if it was done off screen. - Hachiman and Yukino talents finally combined are a sight to behold, especially in the novel which is more detailed on how they practically realize this prom, and we see both of them doing what they can do best, but this time in a combined effort. - Yukino: “This is bad. I feel like I could just die.” As far as my memory goes, this is the first time that Yukino openly admit to be overworked, which also serve the purpose of explaining what happen next. - Hachiman looks at Yukino absorbed into work from the side and he realizes that if this will keep going she will exhaust herself like she did in S1E10-11. The next thing that Hachiman does is to use the request that Zaimokuza gave him “I’m bereft of materials” as an excuse to make sure that Yukino can take a break because she have poor stamina. There’s many other occasions where we’ve see Yukino poor stamina, on top of my head S1E3 on the tennis match and S2E2 after they climb the stairs to the temple. He confirms his intentions exchanging an understanding look with Iroha, who get what he means because of what happened in S3E3. Back then Hachiman chastised Iroha into not relying too much on Yukino because she tends overwork herself, and halfway into the episode Iroha understood what Hachiman meant. Having understood his intentions Iroha proposes Yukino to take a break, but Hachiman need to prolong that break to let Yukino rest, as he understands her very well by now (I talked about understanding in the previous episode’s notes as well) he know she would argue against a break if he asked her directly, so he come up with the excuse of the sauna to make Yukino and the girls wait for them. (continued in section 5)

==================== 4/15 Sauna (No spoilers) - 33:20 I disagree as this is not a needless scene, even the sauna setting is smartly used by Watari (the novel’s author) to conclude Hayato’s arc, which is sadly not seen in the anime (also from how the novel is written it looks like the author likes saunas). First I would like to point out that it’s Tobe the one who ask to Hachiman if he’s dating Yukino. You know who Tobe is, he’s the $tupid one, so him asking it basically means that if he could see it then everyone could (Zaimokuza is an exception because he lives in his own world). If we want to say it from another perspective then it means that they were quite obvious in their interaction even in the open, as we can see during the preparation of the prom and the two of them are very chummy right in front of everyone like if they didn’t even notices they’re in public. But I have to concede that the anime the scene was heavily cut, as it makes more sense in the novel (more on that in the novel’s section).

==================== 5/15 Interdependence (No spoilers) - Iroha: “Senpai, you’re late!” Of course he is, he orchestrated the whole sauna trip just to make Yukino rest, that’s why he took his time. In fact we can see that it’s already evening and he have the gull of saying “Aren’t you guys just too early?”, that’s prime Hachiman bantering. - Yukino and Yui lean on each other, is a wonderful view and also connected to the date scene from before, that show how Yukino is now much more comfortable in physical contact. - Yukino: “I can stand of my own” Hachiman: “I know” The hand scene is phenomenal, probably one of my favorite ever. Finally sure of their own feelings and their worth, Yukino is able to stand up by herself, but this also mean that she’s now comfortable in accepting his hand and his help moving forward, an help that he promise he’ll always be willingly to give, which also express their willingness to maintain this relationship forever (In Vol 14.5 there’s a very cute scene that reinforce this interpretation). The only blemish in this scene is that the animators didn’t represent their shadows as are described in the novel which is so very poetic and romantic: >

The last episode was the best in the season, but this episode was the perfect ending. I'm really all for animes doing the 11th episode as the "ending" and then what comes after, I love that so much and it worked perfectly here. And I love how after everything the autor still adresses Yui and her situation as the last and most important thing. Her trying to address and live with it. Awesome. Also, this episode proves that Komachi is the strongest being in oregairu hahah.

Regarding the question of who Hachiman will end up with... to be honest for the longest time I thought Watari-sensei would just give us an ending with him staying single and he probably could have pulled it off in a satisfying way too, imo. That he was gonna actually end up with Yukino only became apparent towards the last half of season 2 and became really obvious in season 3.

Really? I saw that Yukino was going to win in the first episode since Hachiman always was capivated by her beauty and not once by Yui. In the LN he has long dialogues about Yukino's beauty so there's also that. In my eyes Yui never stood a chance if you see that Yukino didn't fight for Hachiman at the end and still ended up with him. Now that's how you show who the mc really wants. Season 3 has a bitter taste for me because how much screen time Yui got and how much they cut off of Yukino's scenes, who the main girl is... But in the end it's a bit forgiven because best girl won!

A remake isn't realistic. And even the author said tha there's a low chance of a season 4. But we can always hope for some OVAS based on the novels and maybe even a movie like Saekano.

@@saintgeekSG But this isn't the only show they are watching. + Wonder Egg Priority is a lot better that most of the other shows that are currently running on the channel right now (At least in my opinion). So actually I'm glad they picked another show that I like. Especially now that "Oregairu" ended. :(

Just here to give everyone a warning if you love oregairu and respect the story don’t read oregairu shit shin or watch the Ova that will come out this year. It’s just a money grab of a continuation that was poorly made and ruined some fan favorite characters.
