So nice to hear your voice. I have been missing your tutorials on So Sew Easy! Occasionally, we get to see one of your older videos - just not enough for a gifted and great sewist. Come back .

Blow drying or using one of those air blowing cans are the worst thing you can do to your machine!! I clean sewing machines as a side job and I find a lot of people blow all the lint into the engine part of your sewing machine. They do sell parts you can connect to your home vacuum. That would be the best thing is ducking up the lint instead of blowing lint into engines and running the risk of breaking an expensive machine.

Having lived along the Pacific Coast in the United States, I can vouch for paying attention to the humidity levels. Now that we live in the Hill Country in Texas, the same applies. The heat and humidity brings us giant walking sticks bugs, among other things.

Good suggestion about taking the picture. I will give you a tip that I learned today while trying to figure out why my Brother SQ9185 kept jamming. The bobbin case and the holder that it goes in have little markings to help line it up. If you look closely, you can see a little triangle and circle that will line up when you've inserted the bobbin case in correctly. I had never noticed it before I read that.

I do the same I take a picture of the bobbin because I always have trouble put in back. Good tutorial.

I have one of the vacuum attachments that I use to suck out the lint. However because of it's size it doesn't always reach into areas I see clumps of lint so I hold a bendy drinking straw on the end of my vacuum. I just hold it with the bendy part down so I can bend and twist it into tight areas. It is a bit fiddly but worth the small bit of bother.

Great tutorial, Deby! Usually change my needle on my machine once every 3 or 4 projects, and more often if I am machine quilting; I notice I don't get as much lint from my thread and fabric if I do so. I've a Brother machine also; wish for the old days when I still had my New Home machine because I could take everything apart to clean!

Excelent Video Thank you

Very good video. No hesitation. The rust is just due to the lint in the machine. You only have to have one episode of boiling veg on a winters day - with the machine out & it will soak up the condensation. Wiping with oil is very good idea each time. But your rust isn't too bad yet. .

Good info! Knew you have a huge puppy but didn't know you had a darling cat as well; mine always think they're "helping" by acting as pattern weights.

You've heard of dust bunnies? You've got the bunnies. I clean my machine between every quilt, then put new needle in. Thanks for the video.

Judy Hart Oh yes, the bunnies are bredding like rabbits in my machine. I don't usually let it get like that - honestly!
