Growing up with these games was such an experience. And now we get to show them to our friends, our children and everyone around us. So excited to see the LoK family happy after all these years. The FMV will be upscaled with ML, just like in the Tomb Raider remasters, I guess. My biggest hope is that they got the studio audio recordings from the archives. Just to get rid of the compression on the voice lines.

Pre ordered already. Did you see the map they added? We will finally be able to correlate BO1 map to SR1. I already drew some conclusions, seems raziels territory is vasserbunde, its original river that went into the lake of tears was diverted to flood the drowned abbey, which would be probably steinchenchoe. Silenced cathedral seems to be uschtemheim/janos retreat. And we finally got an explanation to the lighthouse inland. It seems to sit at the edge of the termogent forest, it is probably meant to help people navigate the swamp

@@papapapa16 that was always a popular theory, but from the map, it really feels it lines up better with uschtenheim. While I think the silenced cathedral is spiritually related to avernus, I never thought they could be the same building, after all, avernus was moments from crumbling down in blood omen 1, it probably was long gone by soul reaver 1, ai always saw the silenced cathedral as more of a spiritual sucessor, maybe made by descendants that had a memory of avernus. Anyway, even though uschtenhem lines up better, avernus was just next to it, so it could be the same overall areas or somewhere inbetween

The music for the trailer was so amazing! It looks like they know what they are doing and they are doing it very well. Melchiah looks incredible, he was THE character to test in a remaster. @@Slampbell Hey, well I think it was perfect *especially* because it was used for that old SR1 trailer! 👍 For many, it all started with that one trailer, after all. And now, it's starting again, but also for a new generation, hopefully. Using this piece for the new trailer proves we've come full circle, and it fits the theme of death and rebirth from the game. Because the series is effectively being "reborn" and as such, with this comeback, the snake is eating its tail. *History repeats itself!* 🐍

I am so hyped that I actually began a playthrough of the first Legacy of Kain adventure, Blood Omen in preparation. Helps that Blood Omen actually still holds up as a solid grown-up Zelda-like adventure and one of the best Vampire games ever. Hell, I even installed Blood Omen 2 and its Conceptual Edition mod so I could play through that after Blood Omen to see how badly Raziel screwed up the timeline during Soul Reaver 2 and to further satiate my appetite. I'm THAT excited.

I can't believe this isn't the majority sentiment of the LOK fandom. I'm not big into LOK games(i stayed away mostly cus of boring combat) but even i can tell that a game like that is supposed to be dark. The "remaster" makes it look like a cartoony platformer like Jak&Daxter or something. I thought LOK was supposed to be a dark&foreboding series of games about vampires, now this remaster completely ruins that feeling.

Raziel and kain have big ass eyes, big ass hands, big ass feet and a very distinct shape language. Cartoony design conventions. It's not necessarily bad that that's the case. The grey and griminess may have been more of a lighting and texturing limitation from back then than anything

Been following this franchise since the 90's, and was so ready for this but...did it need to be so bright? So cartoonish? The texture pack they used is not suitable for Nosgoth in my opinion. Completely agree. Too bright and too "clean" looking. Melchiah is definitely a stand out for the worst offender here. Even his underside is well lit literally none of him is in shadow, and his eyes need to be redder, make him properly demonic.

exactly it quite took away the "scary factor", the atmosphere for me with that as a side note, in the remaster, melchiahs "heads" (skulls) and ribcages are boney, while his legs and arms are fleshy, which is weird on the other hand they indeed did mind his pretty inconspicuous metal mask

As soon as I heard about the remake I thought of you. The texture pack you did was great. Unfortunately, flycast has been giving me issues. For example it crashes every time I do a save state. It started doing that after I paused the game and it crashed. There's not much out for in terms of help on flycast, any clues, I'd like to replay your texture pack in time for the re release. Edit: Can"t seem to install it on retro arch.

Fantasy Thinking: It would be insane if the reception and financials for SR1&2 combined with the prequel comic encouraged CD to do a remaster of Defiance - then use all the new & updated artifacts from the remasters to create a complete epic Blood Omen remake in the same gameplay style. They could then take some artistic liberties working with the original writers to make some slight retcons just so all 4 titles would flow together narratively and make logistical sense as we all know some of the mythos got a bit muddied from game to game. That would be an amazing opportunity to reward long time fans as well as bring in so many new ones. Regardless, am just so excited we have SOMETHING new brewing in the LOK world. 👍🏻👍🏻

Looking forward to seeing it release, not quite all my dream of a seamless retelling with both titles as one larger game, though have my pre-order in regardless. My only real criticism is the remastered content now looks too clean in comparison to the gritty original, teaser just feels to have lost some of the Atmosphere that inherent grit brought to the experiences of the first game, sunshine on what was once a misty day. Just hope this leads to further remasters or new releases, i still want a final instalment on Kain’s story to play.

I hope they do something similar to the Elden Ring world map. I still don't know what to do about my preorder of the Evercade version of Soul Reaver 1? I feel I don't need it anymore.
