Whatever your position, pray these remasters do so well they consent to remastering at bare minimum Defiance (and to a lesser extent Blood Omen 1 and 2). Defiance specifically, because if they do that one too, and it does well, they may get inspired, and decide to give us what we really want. Dark Prophecy. No spinoffs. No Dead Sun wannabe "other stories" set in Nosgoth. Give us the fate of Kain. Can you imagine Kain in a free roam setting like God Of War? Open up all of Nosgoth to full effect. Serve up the Elder God on a platter to be consumed and destroyed once and for all. Now go, leave this place, and vote with your wallet. Buy the SR 1&2 Remaster. Buy it twice. Buy it for your kids, your friends, your grandma. We were destroyed, and yet we live.

Completely agree... My brain is going nuts with all this excitement... I'm a bit concerned the series will still struggle though as these remasters aren't going to be able to fix gameplay, and lets be honest the standards of gameplay for SR 1 & 2 are just not going to pull in a wider audience sadly; SR1 having very monotonous combat while SR2 tries to up the complexity but strips away everything else from the game... What I'd give for them to implement defiance style combat to SR 1 & 2 just to spice up the gameplay a little bit... I've thought about how you'd modernise LoK gameplay a lot... The only real way i see it working is making it like the new GoW games (Lite version of souls-like combat with an semi-open world)... I'd personally be happy with combat like Castlevania - Lords of shadow but not sure if that would appeal to everyone

I also think Raziel can still be a character - now that the Reaver is purified I can see him manifesting as a spirit or something that Kain can interact with while he wields the Reaver. Raziel is my favourite character in the series and I really want them to keep him around in some way in any potential future game.

It's crazy how fast the kickstarter for the graphic novel reached it's goal. I have so much faith in the LOK fandom now, being as resilient and undying as Raziel himself. I really hope they give us physical remasters like they did with Tomb Raider after a few months

I don't want to be bitter or negative, but I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet about the lost levels, it just said delve into the environments, so you probably will just be able to either view the levels or maybe run around in them, but I don't think much more content will be available it would be amazing of course, to play like the SR1 Alpha version, with it's cut content restored and such but I think that would be too much to hope for, but I will be pleasantly surprised if that is the case

The map you showed, I pulled up one of the maps from Blood Omen as was able to find every location marked on. Raziel's territory is in Vasserbunde, Rahab's at the mouth to the Lake of Tears, near Stenchenchroe. The Saraphan tomb looks to be near Malek's Bastion. That is a fabulous map.

They Could take all of the cancelled projects, finish them, format the graphics to modern specs and create a story line and Call it "From The Ashes" . Even Finish an Extended Addition to Soul Reaver like They Originally intended.

Defiance has great combat especially using Kain.

The most shocking thing about Defiance's gameplay is that it almost plays like Devil May Cry 3 with Swordmaster plus it has the TK abilities, which are extremely similar to DMC4 Nero's Snatch. Defiance predates DMC3 by 2 years and DMC4 by 5.

Tbh Defiance doesn't need the DMC combat, it needs to advance what they ahd in BO2 with nowadays gameplay and combat systems. I'd mix speed and variability of Devil May Cry with the freedom of combat alike of Kingdom Come, while also not forgetting how to incorporate BO1 abilities back into the game.

Hey! I made an over world map of Nosgoth for DnD. It looks like I nailed it! I had to take any map data from SR 1&2 and Bo 1&2 and after examining them, I made a very similar looking map that I used for the setting in-between Raziel and Kain's disappearance. I am so stoked!

So far I’m loving everything think I’m seeing in this remaster. I’ve heard all the criticisms and frankly I don’t agree with any of them. However, I just can’t get over that new Rahab redesign it looks completely ridiculous. He looks like the cursed offspring of a river zora and a muppet. Him an Dumah are probably my favorites of the brothers. And I see now that they are calling back to the cut design and I’m glad it’s shows they really care for this project and there’s passion for the series. but people were never nostalgic for the cut design we are nostalgic for the retail release design of the character and if you ask me that original design was cut for a good reason it looks awful.

For anyone missing Simon Templeman as Kain the next best thing is Warhammer Chaosbane, the warrior class, gosh I miss his voice! Found me an eerie red blade very similar to the soul reaver (physical form) this will definitely tie me over until Soul reaver Remastered comes out, interesting thing tho he didn't admit his name to the credits but that is 110% percent him! I implore people to give it a chance, it's no epic AAA title but dang he's half the reason I love the game, then there's a certain level VERY similar to nosgoth with those blood demons running amok and it has me craving a Blood Omen remake/remaster/reimagining really bad, but this is the best and closest thing I'll ever get, what a phenomenal year for legacy of Kain fans! I'm so very psyched for it! And if anyone has the slightest interest your after the Slayer Edition, hopefully it slates your thirst until Soul Reaver's release

Excellent variety in plushies today, they're all wonderful! Be nice to that Patamon, Patamon can get scary when mad! I was excited about the rumours, but then Raina was like "Try not to get excited about the rumours, we've been through this many times before."... And now, I can get excited all over again. XD I am super glad to see Soul Reaver getting a renewed love again. It's been a LONG time coming. Not even just old trailers, but the demo for Soul Reaver, was an area that wasn't in the final release of the game. If people are worried about brightness, there's going to be a day night cycle, just wait for night. Hahaha!

I've been working myself up silly about the cut content restoration... I think it would be great to see all the cut bonuses like the forges... Imagine if they added a secret alternate ending which was SR1 original planned ending; allowing us to go through Turel's territory, Kain's Retreat and activating the silent cathedral to wipe out all the vampires... I'd give my left testicle and right kidney to make this happen...

Okay so I heard of Blood Omen 1 coming back (I honestly only knew it on the Evercade port reveal) but for Blood Omen 1 to be on the PS Plus as well as Dino Crisis?! Man, my childhood games are coming back strong this year.😍🤩 Also, i may say those statues diorama at 4:54-5:03 look so cool, me and my twin sister are planning to try to get them, though we are having a big think on it for now tbh. It would be awesome if they bring the lost levels for us to play through and wrap up the whole story. This can still fit into the rest of the soulreavers as well. I say this because, Turrel could be teleported in the middle of the battle, which is why we would see him in Defiance, and the version of Kain that we beat at the end of SR1 could be a different timeline. How you ask? Because Kain had the soulreaver. He had the key, and with it, like Mobius, and could slightly manipulate events, as we saw in BO1. Js, it would be awesome. Only thing I can’t wrap my head around, is how Ariel would still exist since she was absorbed by the reaver IF they use the original content.

Personally, the only thing that stops me from replaying SR1 are the amount of block puzzles. Say what you want about SR2, but that was a marked improvement in gameplay.

On the other hand, SR2 is a 4 hour game. And maybe 2 of those hours is just cutscenes/story. I'm not complaining at all, though, I'd say it's the best game in the series for its great dialog scenes, but as far as the game part of the game goes, it's severely diminished; all the glyphs are gone, there's very little reason to use the telekinetic air push, there are virtually no stage hazards, the world is a lot smaller so there's less variety, and you pretty much go through the same areas 2-3 times due to time travel, etc.. It's the weakest in the series on the gameplay. Maybe removing block puzzles was an "improvement" but they also "removed" so much, much more from SR1.

A billion percent, I agree. The idea of block puzzles like that were dated by the PSX generation and any games since then even today that includes them does annoy me. I'm still so, so so looking forward to replying both beyond what I can describe. With all of that being said though, they surely must be planning Legacy of Kain: Defiance remaster as well? Then what if this is all a precursor to something bigger?

I think that they wanted to see our interest in the series with the prequel graphic novel. When they saw that the *campaign* became the 5th novel funded on Kickstarter, they thought they can release their products (game, documentary, etc.).

Here's hoping that the launch of the remasters go well. The last thing we need is for them to be released and a broken buggy condition Like the GT a trilogy or the Star Wars battlefront collection. And who knows if this goes well maybe we will get a remaster of the rest of the series as well. I'm personally skeptical as to whether that would happen but I definitely wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

I am one of those who is concerned about the brightness and saturation of the game, I can't help it😅but I must say that the capture of the sarcophagus of william looks incredible, the skin of Raziel in front of the spectral reaver has the purple tint caused by smoke from the sky as in the version of ps1, I love that. Im very exited 🤩

@@superduper476 Sorry, but nothing has been confirmed at the moment. Going by their previous record: Tomb Raider remastered did get a physical release after the digital, so there is a good chance of one down the line - if the game sells well enough in the first place

I'm very wary of what these remasters will bring; the controversy of how Crystal Dynamics almost ruined the Tomb Raider Remasters is still fresh in my mind. And after years of disappointment and broken promises over the last twenty years, along with most of the original development team retiring, I'd rather the Legacy of Kain series stay dead than be dug up by perverse digital necromancers.

Practically I think it comes down to being able to sell it if these do well. If they did a collection of three not only would there be more work put into it but they'd only be able to try a round for blood omen 1 and blood omen 2. From my recollection BO2 did well financially? In spite of it's flaws... I could be remembering wrong. But this runs on nostalgia fuel this go around. Defiance is the big piece to selling BO2 and making it worthwhile with likely a simple port or emulation of BO1 onboard

Already got the pre-order for the remasters and supported the kickstarter! I do hope they at least do a Defiance remaster, and if possible BO 2. It would be a dream come true to get a sequel to the series. I'm okay with the brighter colors in the remake personally cause that is the direction that SR 2 and Defiance took, if you take a closer look at them. Also compared to when those games came out, games have real time lighting vs baked in lighting, so ambient lighting is going to be more present. LOVE the look of both Melchiah's and Zephon's monstrous forms. I'm a bit on the fence about Dumah cause he kinda does look a little goofy. But if that's the only flaw in the game, I can live with it. I'm happy that the statues of Kain and Raziel look great but that price tag is a bit high for me to justify a purchase. I'm gonna have to sit on it and think it over for a bit.

I have been playing Blood Omen on my Playstation classic, it's a slow, but still respectable port, but the PC versions still trumpts that port, thankfully on GOG as you covered. A remake of the first game is a must considering its age, but I feel we are getting a Silent Hill 2 remake deal, where if Soul Reaver Remaster does well, maybe they'll considering investing into the BO remake.

I'll be the nitpick guy ,sincerely the lightning of the remaster footage shown was severely missing the original atmosphere. Really hope that's going to be fixed. I do agree that the models look good tho

I had given up all hope of one of my favorite series coming back in some form. Now the Soul Reaver games are being remastered, which kicks nothing's ass any day of the week. I don't want to get my hopes up thinking that a remake or sequel comes along, though. I thought that would happen when a Chrono Cross remaster came out and nothing happened there. I just really would love for Kain's saga, starting back in 1996, to finally get a well deserved conclusion. Defiance kind of ended with all hell breaking loose, after all.

You should really give the original dub a go it has one of the most phenomenal voice cast in the entire history of gaming. However I do understand the plight on being able to play it in your native language I am hopeful they keep the same voices for the other languages from the OG.

@@radagonsoreseal3457 I mostly play games in their original voices and mostly dislike German dubs. However Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance are a rare example on where i prefer the German voice over the english one. Because it is very different and gives Raziel an entirely different character. English raziel is angry. German Raziel (Soul Reaver 2 onward) has an attitude of superiority. He sees kain as a pittyfull creature and makes that very well known. His entire attitude oozes "I have looked behind the curtain and i am not impressed." Thinking that he has figured everything out, while failing to realize he is still being used. Watch The German Soul Reaver 2 intro and you will know what i mean. Tell me how you like the voice :)
