Did you notice? The average immigrant - speaks more languages than you - has to work harder - knows more about other cultures than you - is less willing to generalize in a negative way Should that tell us something?

You forgot...the average immigrant eventually knows more of your own nation's history...because they want to become a citizen of it...while citizens of a nation (like USA) are happily oblivious to their own nation's founding and historical events...

I've been following some adventures of american people on other countries and have decided to stay and live there. For example there's a couple that have their KZbin channel called KineticKennons and they show the beauty and culture of another country in this case Mexico. They have talked about a little bit about the situation, how other countries are not so uptight with their politics and they even have a lot more real freedom elsewhere and how that makes a human happier. Just interesting to watch and see what's really behind that or what the main media is feeding us with...

This makes me really sad that as immigrants we have to explain ourselves everywhere we go. Like we owe everyone an explanation as we why we are here. We are all human. No one is superior. People want to say “how do we know who we are letting in?” But honestly, how do you know you won’t have a child that’s going to contribute to all the bad things? What makes a person born in US soil greater than another human? That they don’t deserve the same thing?
@xgoosey

What makes a child born on US soil more important than one over seas is the simple fact that thier parents pay taxes and vote regarding the well fair of the country, Citizenship goes along way! and by important I mean in the eyes of the country

@Daniel Embree lol that is the most false, hilarious and dumbest argument anyone has ever come up with to justify their racist, xenophobic beliefs, feelings and fears. The USA is a HUGE country: there is enough resources and land for easily 3 times the current population without having to destroy protected and ecologically sensitive areas in the process. Immigrants bring fresh ideas, fresh energy, fresh hope and fresh enthusiasm to any country: they are a HUGE addition to a society that is rapidly becoming lazy and decadent. Immigrants shake things up: they challenge traditional suppositions, they bring different worldviews to add to the mix and make it more lively and diverse.

I come from a family of immigrants (grandparents). With minor exceptions of indigenous peoples, at some point, people in our families were once immigrants. I think people forget their roots and need to reconnect. I don't think people realize how hard and expensive it is to get citizenship here.

Well if you pay more than about $725 for the application which breaks down to about $640 for the application and processing fee and $85 for biometrics. Your Grandparents were probably like mine and they came here and had to be quarantined at Ellis Island for tuberculosis potential and after 3 months they were allowed to become american legally I do think you are correct about people in this country have forgotten their culture if there is nothing wrong with keeping knowledge of your heritage and culture but at the End of the Day you are still American and still have to follow the rules established to make this country what it is today to where everyone has rights and abilities as long as they are following the rules set forth. have a nice day Semper Fi

Pls re-check you prices. That doesn’t include lawyers, travel (there are fewer offices every year) or the increases that have been made to the baseline prices. Not to mention the efforts that are being made by legislators to make the immigration process harder but not more rigorous (having less office workers and paying them less and assigning them more work, of course they will be worse at doing their job)

I've done some research and found that the best case scenario for a migrant or refugee to legally earn U.S. citizenship takes at the minimum 6 years and thousands of dollars, which is insane to me. Seriously, try planning a family vacation 6 years in advance and hope that no one dies/is born or something happens to the destination that affects your plans. If we made it easier and faster for people to come to the U.S. legally and become citizens, we would have far fewer people waiting to come to the country, far fewer migrants living here legally or illegally, and more people including the ones in this video who have achieved the American Dream.

I used to live above a bicycle repair shop in Copenhagen and the owner was a refugee from Iraq, he used to be a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Baghdad, but he had said some things Saddam Houssein didn’t like so he and his family had to escape in the middle of the night. When he came to Denmark he was told he would have to start his education over if he wanted to work in his field, so he ended up repairing bikes instead.

About immigrants not trying to learn english, there are 2 things to consider: 1 - USA do not have an official language by law. English is the most spoken language, but it is not the only one existent in the country. A lot of indigenous people have their own language and they are also american for example. Hawaii is also part of the US and they also have other languages than English. 2 - You learn a language if it is useful for you. I live in Berlin for 4 years now. And I work in English, I have Germans friends to help me whenever I need something more official. The city is quite cosmopolite, so everyone around you speaks at least a little English. So in my day to day life, German is pretty much useless, unless I travel to some countryside city or need to solve a problem on my own. And even then, there are people who are willing to speak english, spanish, french or even make gestures so they can communicate with you. So If a person do not learn english in the US, maybe it is not useful on her day to day life for a bunch of reasons which could include the fact that this person is surrounded by other immigrants.

@@awofadeju1 It's not a matter of me thinking or suspecting that they take jobs away from Americans, it's a fact whether you want to accept it or not. Not only does immigration force Americans to compete with foreigners for jobs, it also lowers the value of workers, raises the cost of living, increases homelessness and crime, and crowds out our cities and schools. Immigration only benefits rich people because it allows them to pay people less for their work and it also means there's more people to buy their stuff. I am the daughter of Hispanic immigrants. I have an older brother and a younger sister. When my parents first made it to america in the first few years my brother was born. He had a hard time in school because both of my parents struggled speaking english so he had a harder time with almost everything. My younger sister had it easier because by then my dad had become more fluent so he was able to help more. My mom had learned enough english to help me learn the ABCs and a few basic words but i was never able to have bedtime stories read to me because my dad had the night shift and my mom was the pnl one home but she couldnt read in english so i would just go to bed most of the time. When i was in pre-school my teacher expected me to know the present and past tence version of verbs but she didnt expect it from anybody else. My skin color will never be like any white persons and i am happy because of that. I am 12 years old and i hope to do great things to prove to other people that even though we are childrens of immigrants we can make a difference and that we are not insignificant but but worthy of anything that a white american is.

I think the first question is a bit of a myth and attempts to spread a falsehood. I don't know of anyone that believes legal immigration produces more crime in neighborhoods or communities. A majority of the population comes from legal immigration. However illegal immigration by it's very nature does, and common sense (along with studies) support if you migrate to a country illegally, breaking immigration laws are not the only laws you are going to break in order to stay in the country illegally and normally at the expense of legal resident or immigrant. Conflating the illegal migration issue with controlled immigration does a disservice to those who do follow the law and the questions "addressed" like the above are not the real issue. The real question is why people feel they need to conflate to two if their narrative has any rational validity. Why do I need to label someone who is against illegal immigration and the crime that brings with it as being against immigration altogether and throw them into a minority view point that has no traction in the majority view of people against illegal immigration? To paint them as being wrong? All Americans should be for controlled, legal immigration. It's how a majority of Americans came here and it's how a majority will have continued success here.

I can tell you from personal experience that people do believe that. Scientific Statistics often don’t match up with real people’s believes. Like crime, most people would never guess how unsafe Alaska is or how many Republicans urban areas and cities there are. Or the absolute huge percentage of women who have had abortion but don’t talk about it so people think it’s rare to have one
