Shia LaBeouf is a 33 year old actor who has seemingly already had nine lives. He’s been in the spotlight since he was a kid, and he’s lived out multiple creative pursuits and existential breakdowns all in front of the public. Despite his mistakes, he’s always had a charisma and candor that is refreshing and that comes down to him seeming like a genuine person. I look at how Shia faced his troubled past through self expression.

Well said and I couldn't agree with you more. I was just watching a shameful video that was trying to demonize Shia LaBeouf and other actor like him and it made me sick. I truly respect the guy and have battled with my own demons in the past, especially drinking. I couldn't imagine being uber famous and having millions of dollars at my disposal. I'd probable be dead. He's a real dude like me and you just trying to find his way in this crazy world with the platform he was given. Much respect to anyone that can come out and bear their soul like Shia does.

@ProseColored Glasses yea but isn't genuine tho. Her being a conservative has nothing to do with it. Politics weren't even mentioned in this video. It's all about how a man who stuggled with myself found the joy he needed and he apologized for what he did and he's Flourished man. Now weather you like his acting or even him that's on you but don't bring politics or Mr. Trump into a conversation where they don't belong.

I agree. When he speaks on the work that makes his soul fulfilled (not in those words, but essentially) it makes you reflect on how many people truly are not living to their fullest. I think so many men especially, try to stay strong but in the end are weak because they never were able to fulfill their intrinsic selves.

Nice & positive blurb Trina. Coming from closely related experiences (alc/drug addictions+++), a kiss of death is to tell someone that it "looks like they have [everything] in control" - just after proving for months, years, decades that there is no situation where I will not use, if I am in control. The first thing, if you want to give yourself a chance at sobriety, is to relinquish control 100%! Period! And to keep doing that every day. Otherwise, I become the "Big Shot" again - controlling everything and everyone around me. Which means I can control my alcohol, heroin, & cocaine use. Death soon follows. Love

@HillaryMarek
@HillaryMarek 4 жыл бұрын
@billburgess sobriety starts where ego stops. You don't have to nor should you, relinquish control 100% . The truth of it is that in our addiction, we have no control. We have already relinquished it and handed our fragile human condition over to the care of a chemical Getting clean requires something not many of us are truly willing to do, and that's shut up, and trust someone. In our active addictions we take on narcissistic personality disorder traits and allow our super ego to free roam without any foresight on how to get back to our true selves. Learning how to stop trying to manipulate the world around us in every plausible situation and human connection is the key to learning how to live and thrive without the need of external influence and chemical dependency. But how to you expect a Narcissist to stop trying to fool the world? You first have to trust someone, starting with yourself. Feeling like a fraud is a very real and common root cause for many to over indulge. Maybe it's a 31 year old who drinks after work with coworkers so she can feel more adult because she still doesn't see herself as grown up and is worried that they will think she's just a kid too if she doesn't show up. Maybe it's a creative guy who has sell these thoughts and ideas but when he tries to relate what's in his mind to someone they can't grasp what he's saying so in fear of that he gets high, knowing that when he smokes meth, his ADHD riddled mind is laser focused and he can perfectly illustrate his thoughts to others. Well at first at least. Regardless of the why, we all find out in the end that on our way to find ourselves, we lost our truth, and eventually our self became our shame and nothing masks shame like an inflated ego. So we shouldn't give up control but trust that through self reflection and awareness we can regain control over our egos and learn to own our truths, forgive ourselves, accept the new while learning from the past, then with hard work and a little guidance, we can love ourselves, and accept that we are worthy of love. I am so proud of you for slaying your dragons.and staying clean. If you ever start to waver please reach out to me, you can just comment on one of my videos and I'll get back to you asap. I don't need to know you to know that you're worth it, you are. -Hillary Marek

I love the opening sentences to this video… I do exactly the same, and have never really thought about the fact that it's a big part of "falling for an artist" and that that's something a lot of us do. Have been really going in and fully falling for Shia the last week or so, and binge watching interviews with him, so this is a perfect opening to the video.

What I mean is you have managed to articulate something and make note of something that I do a lot but I have never thought of all put into words so clearly… I listen to music or watch music videos of someone and then I end up going straight in and watching interviews with them, a friend of mine said does this, but I do it all the time. I've never thought about the fact that what I'm doing when I'm going to watch those interviews is learning more for the sake of really falling for the artist in question. It's cute to think we all do that, I love the idea that you can feel such a strong connection with someone you've never met... it's like it's something real and deep, and just a sweet form of escapism all at the same time.

Shia is my favorite actor. I think he’s amazing at his craft but I also think he’s a very real genuine and authentic person. I still haven’t seen the Peanut Butter Falcon but I really want to.

The lad is my hero, the inspirations he's given me is unmatched by anyone else. People used to say I reminded them of him, the troubled past and curly hair ;) but how he keeps going is so inspirational, almost as if how hard things get the self pride and continuation is something I think we can relate. So much respect for shia

I like him. He’s impressive and likable. I also relate on a level. I know a bit of the mania he has in his head. I have a permanent existential crisis, that I personally suppress and suffocate. He seems to address it, and then wrestle it:

I've always liked Shia because ive always been an outsider. Being a kid in small towns in nc, I had no friends. I did and their parents realized my last name was Lopez and for some reason that makes you a 10 year old criminal. But I started being around "different" people. Got arrested several times for silly joking stuff like lazers and running away, drug selling conspiracy. When I was 14 I finally got out of there my drunk ass dad got me. He was in the military so we traveled everywhere and couldn't fit in with those shitty kids so same thing basically everywhere graduated and joined the military with a massive alcohol problem, I went to work everyday on time, every nco can tell you I was one of their greatest soldiers till I got off on the weekends and I thought yeah I'm here I guess drinking is the way to go that's what you do. But it wasn't and I got in massive amounts of trouble dui, fighting. And sent to rehab before I got kicked out. That entire experience, even though I failed the military, was probably the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. I needed that failure, I was good at what I did in the military I made more money and everything there but I was insanely unhappy and I don't ever want to be there again and after that a few years went by had an amazing kid and learned it's my time to give this little girl the life and love I never had, I haven't drank in years I didn't realize I how insane it made me until I had to go to jail for a night for destroying property because I was trying to do the right thing but in a insane way. That's a whole nother story on it's own. I still don't have any friends but I have an amazing wife and little girl who I hope to see do amazing things knowing she will have me no matter what. Idk where I was going with this at all I thought it was going somewhere, but I guess its just a thing to try and lett out my pain good day.

I support and appreciate him Shia very much. He is a SURVIVOR and has a good mind. I can relate to his history, but what knocks us down makes us stronger. He is going to become a success and a model for young men who need reassurance to keep faith in who they are and follow their desires👏👏👏👏❤️ I respect him👍🦋
