The talk about running multiple campaigns in the same shared world reminded me of "World of Io" which is BrettUltimus' shared world Tabletop series. I've had a good time with them, and been letting some of the backlog build up before I catch up to the present day. Good stuff!

Talking about long universes that come to full stop, I feel like it’s hard to do. Money hungry, and people demanding more means most stuff gets retcon and redone to keep pushing out more.

I never even saw your videos interviewing developers, I took a glance but didn't spot them. Would you be willing to link some here? Thank you!
@RLHvanDijk7 ай бұрын
@robertbooth7417 Doesn't help that i don't know when he made this, because i am pretty sure i would love it. I have a feeling this is the fault of KZbin itself, maybe even algorithm. Since i subbed to him (witch have been lik 2 years or so), i almost watched him daily and haven't seen it fly by, so i guess it's pretty old. Could also be on a different channel.

If you ever have the time for cheaper survivor-likes, I recommend 9th sentinel sisters. It's a pretty fun, cheap mecha game in Early Access by the developers of Ender Lilies and Radiant Silvergun.

Leveraging continuity is a cool concept, probably even moreso for those of us over 30/40. It's unfortunate that one can't just plan to create a long-standing series and instead have to cobble something together from a handful of stories that were never meant to be cohesive. It'd be neat to plan out a game series where every main conflict shaped the next new conflict, but in a sort of underhand-throw that doesn't shake the whole world or tie events into a singular narrative. A big bad takes over a region and runs it into the ground, defeat the big bad and save the region. Then in the next game there's an economic crisis in a neighboring region as a direct result of the big bad destroying trade. New heroes arise to face the new big bad who is building up an army to conquer the region while it's weak. Or maybe the heroes plumb the depths of a dungeon to renew trade with a stream of rare resources. Some plotline that draws from previous events but doesn't have to revel in them, while retaining access to the history/geography/cultures/lifeforms of previous games and exposing more. And then eventually the series ends.

Have you read John Constantine: Hellblazer? The original, very long line of it had extreme continuity to the point that the main character grew older in real time.

getting pigeon holed sucks and the difficult thing (from what i’ve heard from a streamer who i watch who’s made insane progress in a lot of metrics this last year) is sticking with it. maybe if you upload those interviews once a month or something, im definitely gonna go back and watch them tho

love to see this game. shame that the reception on the update is mixed though, as far as steam discussion forums go on the news post where they announced this patch. apparently now people feel the RNG is too insane due to the amount of stuff in the upgrade pool now and we're still stuck with 3 choices, along with rounds feeling more like a slog in general apparently... maybe on high curse levels? anyways, I wouldn't know anything about that, just excited that some people still enjoy this game. still thinking about getting back to it myself!
@Jikkuryuu7 ай бұрын
That sounds reasonable, a similar thing happened with 20 Minutes Till Dawn. The game was already stingy with rerolls and the difficulty tiers reduced your number of choices, then they added a handful of new skill trees. And it's cool of them to add content after release and I like the new skills, but the game was tenuously balanced to begin with. And Soulstone Survivors has always been a more naked slog than other bullet heavens. So in some sense, that's what players have signed up for. Still a really cool looking game that I always consider getting before changing my mind.

I click into the video and you’re doing Grove at rank 5. At least the character isn’t necro or spear guy, since those are the two I played on Grove at rank 5 last night. This update is great, lets you play high curse without the endless offmap totem spam that ruined the game for me. Edit: interviews are good, I watch quite a few from another channel. But you can tell they don’t get the views of his other content. For me the Netflix shows that ruined them for me were Castlevania and Punisher. Both had a strong early season followed by a delay and confusion over making more, leading to weak plots and an unwillingness to commit to any kind of plot advancement, closure, or character development. It’s like they are trying to design the next ten-season show while expecting to be cancelled in two episodes.
@gameridiotNOT7 ай бұрын
It doesn't help that the "expecting to be cancelled in two episodes" isn't unjustified. I have seen shows that actually have a well thought out story, and even knew hoe they wanted the show to end only for the execs to cancel the show halfway through. Final Space and Infinity Train are two prime examples that come to mind, while Inside Job is just me being mad at Netflix

About your interviews. It seems like YT bullied you. Can only speak for myself but I watch quite a lot of your videos, but never got offered one of the interviews on front page or recommendations. So something odd with algorithm. Would have loved to see them but never even knew they existed. For whatever reason those rotating beams can stack ridiculous amounts of doom when you put enough upgrades into them. It goes to melting lords real fast. Especially with some of the runes that help it. Or if you use the rune that lets you pick it multiple times... makes the whole screen purple at some point tho.

I'm actually creating a world called Terrindral. I wouldn't mind some help, if you're interested. The core story spans 3 novels, but there's lots of other stuff going on. I've been working on it for about 15 years, so I have the world, major cities, major characters, etc done; and the history of the world itself. But I'll never actually be able to finish it myself, so extra hands/brains is always welcome.
@TheWasher187 ай бұрын
It's really simple, if you buiot up your audience playing games. Never as a creator expect to change your content to something else (such as dev interveiws) and expect to keep the same audience. You'll loose the audience you built up because it's not the content they expect and it'll take longer to build up the new audience because to youtube your channel is a mixed bag. Make a new fork of your channel and develop your other content in its own section. KZbin is a machine, it follows and helps single style content channels more than multi-style channels.
