They're so close that any perceived difference might just be my imagination. I do prefer the actual bass and treble controls on the 25, rather than having to access a menu to get to them, as on the 35. I would really love to hear a comparison between these two and the 61 and 81. That would be very interesting, as would a comparison between these two and the low cost Sony and Yamaha receivers that you have, as well as the Yamaha A-S301, which is the same price as the AXA35 at $350, and the NAD 316BEE and Denon PMA600NE, both of which are $100 more, at $450.There's also the Onkyo TX-8220 stereo receiver, which is $250

I have both the AXA25 and AXA35 and love them both.... AXA25 in my office 35 in my bedroom, both connected to a Schiit Modi+

They sound about equal. The 35 has some extras (phono MM in, headphone out, remote control) that are worth the +$100, if you need them.

Is it me or does the 35 sound clearer up on treble over the 25? Maybe a little bit more spacious? Other than that everything is the same.

The AXA35 is a bit more open sounding, the AXA25 is a bit deeper sounding

@@thomasward00 thanks. Tho the smsl da-9 is no slouch I’ll check out the axa35 to replace the da-9. Or are there any more amps on that price range? The denon pma800ne is the only one i can think of.

Once you try the Cambridge, you won't go back to SMSL class D. This is my personal experience. I also tried NAD and Onkyo, different tastes, but I still prefer the Cambridge. Give a try with the SMSL side by side, you will know.

Thanks guys. I only have a Dali Oberon 1 and schiit bifrost 2 as dac. It’s a good pair with the cambridge? Sorry for asking as i dont have any way to try out the cambridge in my place.

I'm enough sure axa25 is better than axa35, the second one is 10w more and it is full of whistles and bells (pre-phono, display, remote) while axa25 is spartan...but has the lovely tones adjustments. With all this axa35 costs only 100 bucks more? Uhm...Ok, bargain...but the quality of components? Beside this they sound similar but 25 seems more punchy with more bass.
