LOVE MY NEW SONOR KOMPRESSOR 14x8 Aluminium Snare!!! WOW!!! What a snare review James!!! Thanks for the in-depth knowledge as well! You inspired me so much, that I went out the same day I found your video and bought this exact snare to couple with my DW Collectors Cherry Mahogany set and WOW this SONOR Kompressor 14x8 takes it up a notch!!! THIS snare sounded amazing right out of the box!!! I want to say this is best review I've seen for any drum. Keep it coming James! We guys and gals really appreciate your hard work showing all of the features to this beauty!

I've watch loads of videos on these new Sonor snares lately and this is better than them all combined! The range of music you playedalong to really gives its sound ability great context, and personally what it worked with and didnt. Sonor really should have you do there official channel vids. (what is the prog song @3.06?)

Hey thanks for the very kind comment! Sonor’s official videos are absolutely amazing and the work that goes into them is incredible, but I’m glad you enjoyed mine. I’ll be uploading more soon - including another Kompressor snare. That prog song is from an old drum playing album I have from years ago that was called “all drum”.

@@James-Chapman-Drums I'd be interested in the future for you to try one of the steel snare and if possible borrow a phonic or signature hld snare from the 80's for a comparison video.

@@krusher74 Hey, I do actually own a D-505 Ferro steel phonic Snare from '75. I could see if I can borrow the steel Kompressor from somewhere to do a comparison!

Hey James - has the strainer given you any issues? Is it worth upgrading it to the dual glide strainer instead?

Hey. The first thing I was going to do was buy a dual glide to upgrade with (same hole spacing) but honestly I don’t see a reason to. After having the drum it adjusts perfectly, stays where I put it and operated really smoothly. I’ve done it on my S classix snare because they had a throw off with some plastic bits in, but I don’t see this one needing changing.
