Great to see Stagg rebranding a little, while still keeping the old logo on the underside. Perhaps it will help with their deserved credibility. They should bring these over to the Genghis line which is more where i fit, even for metal, with the 15' standard hats and the 17' 19' 21' dual; 18' Sensa Orbis 8' Sensa splash and a traditional 20' china. These new Myra's are intriguing enough to perhaps add to my setup.

I have some of the new genghis dial splash cymbals and they have the new logo. Also an sh China with it, so all the cymbals will eventually have this. I think jt looks great?

So did the dude who made acd pedals basically saw trick drums and said I can copy that but with many updates?

No, the dude who came up with this saw other pedals and thought “I can do better”.

Awesome video showcase as always bud 😎 I usually love the brightness and appearance of brilliant finishes, but the convenience of the roll off for studio use/mixing, with the unlathered Myra range, is super cool 🙂 I found that my older generation Myra crashes, carry with them, that full bodied tone, nice to HPF them sometimes, to clean up some space for the drums etc.. great to see your new Stagg video's, top man, take it easy 😎 \m/

The music store I used to take lessons at sold a lot of Stagg cymbals, I’m happy to say that I got their 20” traditional china for under 50 bucks! I then got a 8 and 10” dh splash which sound amazing, as for the other cymbals on my set I use other brands which I bought second hand, but I’m really craving a second china cymbal for the left side of my kit, I plan to get maybe a DH 19” china, which is the only DH china left at the store, but currently I have’nt been drumming a lot, great video!

How are you finding the Techra sticks, James? I've a few pairs and I'm a bit betwixt and between with them.
@James-Chapman-Drums7 күн бұрын
@@TomDrummer95 in all honestly, they took a little while to get used to. Especially coming from wooden sticks. I have to say I’m really pleased that I stuck with them. If you’re going between them and wooden sticks then you’re probably going to be constantly feeling the difference instead. I’d say try only them for a month and see how you get on. The different series are also worth trying so that you can find what works for you as well. Ive settled on the colossus models, but don’t get on as well with the hammer of the gods. They’re great, but not for me - and if I’d started with those, it could have turned me off the sticks. I rarely drop sticks because of less hand fatigue now and they’re pretty much rimshot proof so instead of a pair of sticks lasting me a show or two, I’m getting 6 months out of a pair of sticks. In fact, I still haven’t broken the colossus 2B that I first got from them in October.
@TomDrummer957 күн бұрын
@@James-Chapman-Drums Nice, cheers. I appreciate the thorough response. My friend loaned me a pair of X-Carb 2Bs that I found to be too light. I've got a Black Diamond 2B that I do quite like, just struggling to adjust to the rebound. I really like the way the Vigil 2Bs feel in the hand, but I'm yet to try them on the kit. I think I'll try out what you said and go with them 100% for a month or so. They're getting some really big-name artists now, so they must be doing something right!
@James-Chapman-Drums7 күн бұрын
@@TomDrummer95yea at the end of the day, Virgil and Billy don’t exactly have bad technique! And they could get a deal with any company they want. So they are making amazing sticks. And the customer service is also excellent. The X carb is their weight relieved line and I feel like it’s more like using a maple stick than a hickory. I’d give the colossus a go! I like the black diamond, but for some reason the colossus just seem to sit better with me in feel. They’re more expensive, but given they’re practically indestructible, it’s not that bad haha! The Virgil 2B is fantastic because it’s the exact dimensions I prefer, but it’s also an X carb. Nice and light and I really enjoy them, but so far they’re the only Techra I’ve broken in 9 months of playing them. I use X carb when I want the feel of a normal sized stick, but have to play a little softer.

These cymbals are so great. If you guys just called them another name under the stagg umbrella, you’d sell a tonne more
@James-Chapman-Drums8 күн бұрын
I’ve spoken to Stagg years back saying that rebranding could have been a good idea, but they’ve put a lot into getting people to recognise how good these cymbals are, so it’s probably not possible anymore. But I agree, sometimes people don’t give them a chance because of their earlier reputation.

Which drum would you take to a Jazz Standards gig where you'll be using brushes: the 14x8 Aluminum or the Brass 13x7?
@James-Chapman-Drums8 күн бұрын
Honestly you could do either. I’d probably lean toward the 13, but for that type of thing I’d probably go with the 14x5 aluminium

Just tested mine out at rehearsal tonight. Lovely feel to them once adjusted and they played as least as well, if not better than I'd hoped. The pedals feel very solid and smooth. So far, they seem like a bargain, though I guess only time will tell if they last! Great review by the way and I love your playing!

Is the double spring set up meant to help with rebound when you have low tension on the main spring?
@James-Chapman-Drums3 ай бұрын
If you’re meaning the double spring part I have in the Darwin in this video, then not really. The Darwin and phantom spring geometry already do that by making the spring travel more distance during the stroke. The double spring really keeps the efficiency of the spring. It’s more that when one spring is no longer working at its more efficient, the other spring sort of takes over and keeps it there. The result is response like nothing I’ve ever tried. I’ll be doing a video on this part soon!
