You're a real musician. Many music production teachers can't make a melodic nice tune like you

Just stunning tutorial sir! I really wish I would have discovered my love for music production at a much younger age. My brother and I were doing additive and subtractive synths when we were like 12 yrs old, we just never knew it. I really enjoy the historic visuals in your vids. I'm a visual learner so seeing helps me a TON. #musicproduction #mindblown

I had this in my ‘watch later’ for months, now finally watched it.. What a great tutorial! Understanding the basics of synths was never as approachable! I always struggle with synths in general and never felt able to grasp it and make good use of it, but now you take away the ‘rocket science’ and it feels much more doable for an average bob like me 😊 Looking forward to part two! Thank you a lot for your effort 🎉

Always thought of those other types of synthesis to be way harder to grasp than this. I always learn so much in your videos and trust your knowledge so much more than other channels ! One question I always find myself asking when working in Serum/ Vital is which waveform do I pick and how to decide, why would i pick certain waveforms over the others when trying to create a sound (Basses/Leads). Maybe you might be able to cover it some time in a video, just knowing which waveform to start with is half the battle some times ! Thanks Ben!

Yeah I know what you mean. Certainly when it comes to working existing sounds out, I was lucky to grow up in the sine/ square / saw era as those are all really distinct so you learn to spot those pretty quickly. Everything beyond that is far too complex to identify aurally imo unless you're used to using a small set for many many years. Now I just distinguish it as sine, saw, square, and complex. I can tell when a sound is made of the first 3 and if it isn't, then it's just guesswork time! In regards to making your own sounds from scratch there's no rules, but I think it's still easier to learn by starting with a saw. It's a very universally useful base.

Absolutely Mitch. Arrangement is on the list for sure. In the mean time definitely check out last week's live video, there's some arrangement in that one too

Dunno how I didn't find your channel before. Saw (ha ha, get it!?!) part 2 of this and thought I better watch part 1 first. The only thing I'd add is that at 3:44 (as you'll know obvs) an LFO does actually make a sound, just that it's too low for humans to hear. I am right in saying this, I think??
@Bthelick Жыл бұрын
Correct yeah good point. It will technically make sound if it was route-able to an output like in a true modular. Especially as vital let's you use them at audio rate.
@robin_miller_music Жыл бұрын
@@Bthelick ah interesting, do most synths limit them to under 20Hz then?
@Bthelick Жыл бұрын
@@robin_miller_music yes typically. not necessarily 20hz max but not much higher, and certainly not pitchable with keyboard tracking
