Cheers! A new way to approach the canvas. Until now I've only used Kontakt for its libraries, so it'll be nice to have a reason to go deeper with it! :)

Totally inspiring, dude. I'm not gonna go out and buy Kontakt, but I AM gonna use this in Ableton's slice to midi :D

I'm always finding incredible new ways to use Kontakt. Problem is, I kind of don't like the edit instrument gui. It starts to get confusing when everything looks the same and it's easy to adjust the wrong parameter if you aren't paying close attention. Just realized, I'm here almost 10-years after this video was made, but the concepts are still useful today. Kontakt IS the future and king of sampling!

@Alxbeginner You don't HAVE to use kontakt, but it has features that are more like a synthesizer, like its modulation possibilities that I prefer to use. Also, I'm not always working in ableton live.

What's the sofware in the beginning at 1:11 I've got this entire Kontakt thing set up but there is not a single tutorial on the internet nor in the manuals that tells me how i can simply record my stuff: I wanna record something in the Kontakt 5 Player with the libraries i bought, and i wanna be able to edit it with midi n shit, not create and edit instruments and stuff, but how on earth do I do that?
@artemfedotov420910 жыл бұрын
Dude, make a midi/instrument track in your sequencer (digital audio workstation - Logic, Live, Pro Tools, Cubase - what ever you got), put kontakt on as an instrument insert, make sure MIDI signal is coming into Kontakt, browse the preset you got with it and ur good to go
@dragonmcmx10 жыл бұрын
Artem Fedotov "what ever you got" Yeah, thats what i was asking for, what should I get ;)
@artemfedotov420910 жыл бұрын
dragonmcmx for electronic music styles (involving big amounts of midi processing, automation, sampling, virtual instruments etc.) i recommend Ableton Live or Logic Pro if you are a mac user. Logic Pro is much cheaper, Live is more intuitive with very friendly GUI and crazy flexibility - from this example I dont even see any reason to use contact, cuz Live has it all built in with WAY FAR more sound design and control possibilities. So, yes, Ableton Live is the software he uses and the same could be the best for you, but if you are a mac user and want to rocket launch the process in minimum cost, buy Logic Pro, its HUGE and musical.

It’s all good when I chop up a sample in the beginning. but sometime’s when I’m not satisfied with the chopped sample and just simply want to move the sliced section, the newly chopped part does not make any sound and the sound starts only when it gets to the originally chopped section.

quick question... I have a sample or group/zone that seems to be delaying the playing of that sample. For instance, when I play a neighboring zone, the sample in that zone begins just fine. I play the problem zone... there is like a whole second b4 the sample begins AND it's not the sample itself because it plays fine with the wave editor play button. ???? I am not very up on kontakt programming but it seems as if there is some delay on that group like something telling it to not start for 1 second. That makes no sense to me and this is a bought lib, not something I'm doing. It's viola samples playing flautando articulation (very soft). So I play a chord of 3 notes and that one zone (which is 2 keys of the keyboard) comes in a second late! How can I figure this out? The sample itself seemed to have extra space at the front so I deleted that in the sample editor and SAVED the patch entirely with samples to my PC and when I play the keyboard it still doesn't begin like the others. Now that I replay the notes, it seems it's a few zones doing it, not just one. Any ideas?? I closed kontakt and reloaded from the one I edited that sample from and still it is delayed. ARG.

First of all great tutl and props to this guy for his creativity, he's awesome. NI products are nice but they seem very slow to work in. There is hardly any good mouse functionality. Something as simple as zooming in and out takes 3 times as long as it should. I would really rather do something like this in Drum Racks in Ableton but the only hang up is you can't time stretch in Sampler.

I don't have kontakt, but isn't this basically the same as the "Slice to new MIDI track" in ableton? You could use simpler/sampler for effects per sample.

At 1:35, perhaps a quicker way to get the audio would have been to duplicate the track, then freeze it, then flatten it.
