Recorded in 2021 on the Amsterdam - Hoorn local service, between Amsterdam Centraal and Haarlem.
The SGM trainset was one the last remaining 'classic' local trainsets of NS. Introduced in the late 1970's, the SGM (also known as 'Sprinter') was the main workhorse on many local train services, mainly in the Randstad urban zone of the Netherlands. The train ran in 2 and 3-car sets. Between 2003 and 2006, all trainsets were refurbished and introduced brand new seating and a onboard information system.
Right before the start of the new railway schedule in December 2021, the SGM retired after more than 40 years of service.
Two trainsets were preserved. 1 trainset went to ProRail, the Dutch rail infrastructure owner for training purposes. 1 trainset went to the Dutch railway museum in Utrecht.
