Remember what Rolf said "He only wanted Georg not the rest of them". Also, how did they know to go to The Convent was it because they did research on Maria? Didn't they have any common sense to check the Hood of their Car.

Stannis The Mannis Well according to Catholic faith they aren't to take sides in these kinds of things, but there are exceptions. If the nuns prayed to God for forgiveness, God would kinda give them a "You did the right thing pasa" vs if they don't apologise God will be mad. Nowadays when people of faith need to do something they know is wrong at it's course they pray, and if God says yes, it's okay. They sinned, according to the Bible but to be fair they didn't have the time. I'm sure in the context of their faith god forgives them. How do they know god said yes or know? Well as I'm agnostic I believe they just assume small things like winds are their answers.

A truly priceless scene. I'd argue that a more devious way to sabotage the cars would be to have not taken anything out, but to have re-ordered the spark plug wires on the distributor. If major parts are missing, the Nazis will notice the moment they open the hood. But if they re-arrange the wires so cylinders fire at the wrong time, even the best of mechanics would take ages to figure out why it's not running - everything is present and working, yet the damn thing won't start. Wouldn't have made as good a scene of the Nuns revealing the ignition coils to the Abbess though.

For some reason, I kind of see humor in this,as the Nazis keep making fruitless attempts to start their cars, instead of admitting defeat, since it's obvious the cars won't start, courtesy of the nuns having "de-carbeurated" them(removed the carbeurators), so as to protect Maria and her family. All the while,Rolf and his buddies must be like,"Why won't the damn things start?!" That was so sad,for Liesl especially,to see her boyfriend turning bad guy,Nazi,of course. But at least Maria, the captain and seven kids succeeded in getting away and surviving.

Woody woodpecker(at the end of the cartoon Log Jammed): "Father, I have sinned." Priest: What is this sin, Woody? Woody points at Pierre de Lumberjack, fruitlessly trying to get his pants back up even though Woody cut the suspenders so they won't stay up(Woody's revenge on him for trying to deprive Woody of his home.) For anyone who's seen that WW cartoon, it also might remind you of this, just that basic element of somebody who keeps trying in vain to get somewhere, even though it's obvious they never will(the way the Nazis keep making fruitless attempts to start their cars, OK, even if they don't know that the electric coils have been removed thus rendering it useless, still, the nuns know as they're the ones who did it,so as to protect Maria and her family, naturally. Just a personal thought, but it does remind me of Log Jammed, as Woody, after getting his home back, vows to get revenge on Pierre which ultimately ends with Pierre forced to guard his big log jam himself(as Woody's home was meant to be the "keystone" for it) and then Woody cutting Pierre's suspenders so his pants won't stay up, but instead of admitting defeat he keeps trying over and over to get them back up as Woody laughs his famous staccato laugh at it(kind of the way the Nazis keep trying in vain to start their cars instead of realizing that SOMETHING is definitely wrong with the cars. Of course, in Log Jammed, after Woody gets Pierre back for trying to steal Woody's home many years elapse and then they are both seen all aged and old with long white beards, they still have gotten nowhere-Pierre is still guarding his logjam and trying to get his pants back up and Woody is laughing in a typical old timer's voice(Hence the title, which is actually a pun on log jammed, both a massive blockage of logs and a deadlock, with neither party giving in, you get the picture). Still, the aforementioned premise of that cartoon and this scene are kind of similar, in terms of someone who keeps senselessly trying to get out of "going in circles."
