This is one of those sketches they make look easy but the timing is so tight and so many transitions from dialogue to singing to dialogue. This is probably much harder to stage than it appears. This is one of my favorite snl skits ever actually. Its pure gold, the whole thing is hilarious but for some reason one of the best parts to me is the deflection after he tells her the “1930s bad” line and she says he keeps saying stuff like that and his reply is “can I help it that I find you attractive” 😂 This response is used by men everywhere at all times in history to completely change the subject and earn brownie points at the same time. It doesn’t matter what the subject was, the flattery almost always works, especially with young women... I love how they worked this in there!

Here's the transcript, for people who want to sing along Sound of Music Snl Transcript Liesl: Oh Rolf! You waited! Rolf: Oh, Liesl! I was beginning to think you wouldn’t come L: Sorry I'm late. The captain made me sing in a nightgown in front of all his friends R: The captain’s your dad, right? L: Yes, and I’m worried about him. Papa says I'm too young to be in love, but I think I love you (sung) L: I am 16 going on 17 I know that I’m naive Fellows I meet may tell me I’m sweet and willingly I belIeve R: That’s true L: You are 17 going on 18 R: Actually I’m 33 Ll: Wait what R: I know I look young and I said I’m young But I lied I’m 33 Spoken L: You’re, 33, but y-you ride a bicycle R: Well that’s because I’m very poor, darling L: And you live with your mother R: Wow, she’s got a list. Look, you’re only as old as you feel. Liesl, do you know what statutory means? L: N-no R: It means I looked it up and we’re on the right side of the cusp L: I don’t know, Rolf. It’s a pretty big age difference, and I don’t wanna say this, but there’s rumors that you’re maybe a nazi maybe R: Focus on the age stuff L: Well, I don’t know if I can trust you (sung) R: Don’t be dramatic It’s not a great look Trust me, I know what guys like L: But I am 16 R: And I am 38 I’ve had some birthdays since we started talking (spoken)L: Wh - 38? I thought you said you were 33 R: Oh, let me explain (Sung) I am 33, next month I’ll be 39, baby I’m 41 (Spoken) L: Rolf! R: Liesl! I know you’re freaked out, but this is Austria, 1930 bad. In a few months, this will be the least of your worries L: You keep saying stuff like that R: Can I help it that I’m attracted to you? You’re so mature and sophisticated. L: Really? You think I seem older? R: Yes. What with the complaining and those hefty naturals? Honestly, when I first came to the house I thought you were the mom. L: I don’t know. You’re a geriatric telegram boy, and I’m rich and good with puppets. You do the math R: I know I’m not perfect. But I’ve talked to mother and I’m moving out. L: Really? You bought a house? R: No, I rented. With roommates (sung) Fritz and Hans and Kevin and Goebbels*, and 4 other guys named Hans (spoken) L: That’s a lot of Nazis. And I still don’t know how I feel about dating an older guy. R: Oh, Liesl. Age is just a number that the government keeps track of. For example (Sung) R: I am 46 L: That’s older than my father R: Damn, how sexy is that L: *giggle* I do like attention and not to mention My brain’s not totally formed R: Oh, Liesl, I like that so much *thanks phshattuck for correcting me on this

@TheScottEF
@TheScottEF 4 жыл бұрын
Oh, Jesus, the sketch is supposed to be scandalous, but a couple where both parties are either at or above the age of consent is not pedophilia. You are taking a serious issue--think a rapist priest with a 12-year-old altar boy--and dousing it with your own definition. Tolerance is not uniquely about embracing the easy and comfortable situations. Plus your quickness to label in a comedic skit is a bit pathetic.
@Suz1
@Suz1 4 жыл бұрын
The terms are interesting, actually! The term for grown adults who are only attracted to older teens (generally age 15-19) is "ephebophilia". For younger teens (people who are pubescent, but barely) it's "hebephilia". "Pedophilia" has the same root as "pediatric" and specifically refers to sexual attraction to prepubescent children.
@xhappyponyxwasmyoldname1395

SteveBowen Literally the punchline of this whole sketch is how creepy the older guy is for perving on a naive young girl and using dark humor on the subject which relates to real life issues of sexual exploitation of teens and even children. Their comment is totally appropriate to the video, even if the term they used isn’t 100% accurate to the situation. He’s still a pervert preying on an innocent girl, and that’s wrong, that’s not something that we as a society need to “tolerate” lmao.
