Sound Of Music Opening Scene Filming Location

The Hills are Alive with The Sound Of Music......as the famous song goes. Visiting a world famous hill where VERY few Sound of Music fans are ever lucky enough to go, let alone get anywhere near!!!! This is private land; I'd like to give a massive thank you to the lovely landowners for kindly giving me special permission to access their legendary land for the filming of this- it honestly was beyond a dream come true!!!
It's 2024 so we are celebrating the special 60th Anniversary of the making/filming of the Hollywood Classic Film The Sound Of Music directed by Robert Wise (Bob Wise) which starred the admirable Julie Andrews as Maria with the dashingly handsome Christopher Plummer as the Captain along with Peggy Wood, Richard Haydn, Daniel Truhitte, Marni Nixon, Portia Nelson, Anna Lee, Norma Varden, Eleanor Parker, Charmian Carr, Nicholas Hammond, Heather Menzies, Angela Cartwright, Duane Chase, Kym Karath & Debbie Turner wanting "a pink parasol"!!! In this video, we visit the famous filming location for the legendary opening scene of "The Sound Of Music" which is a truly beautiful and magical place with constantly changing weather- it poured with torrential rain for THREE DAYS just minutes after we filmed this. The scene was filmed on this very hill in June 1964 with the choreographers Marc Breaux & Dee Dee Wood (who also choregraphed for the films Mary Poppins & Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) - it was actually Mark who originally came up with the idea for Julie to twirl before bursting into "The Hills are aliiiiiiive!" This video was recorded at the famous filming location in June 2024, around the same time that Angela Cartwright (Brigitta von Trapp in the film) was also excitedly in the area with a Sound Of Music Location Tour!
