I'd like more videos for this topic. Maybe analyzing songs from different genres can help us. For pop and trap mostly

My guy a West Coast Bassline/Moog Baseline are 1 in the same im a west coast producer we use it all the time in the majority of our songs.

I only use 1 to 2 instruments in the beats I make, am I underproducing or is that the right amount? Going for trap/hip hop sound. I always felt like I was underproducing even though I really like how the 1 to 2 instruments I use sound I thought I needed more, but am I mistaken? Seems after watching a couple videos that I would be overproducing if I used more than 1 to 2 instruments
@Jay-eg9mv3 жыл бұрын
Try to rap in your beats yourself if you feel comfortable then that means you are going right

I’m trying to understand where everybody is in the world of production? Is your goal just to lay down percussion instruments and then have somebody else make the entire song? Or, are you producing your own chord progressions and Melodie’s and mixing and working with the EQ and adding multiple samples and sound effects to your tracks? What is your focus, the drums or producing a song rather than just a kick, hi hat and snare?
@delinquentbeats88323 жыл бұрын
@@Bittamin Well I’ll be honest I ended up going through a lot of personal things that have stopped me in my tracks, but I’m getting back to the music. For me it’s always been I want to lay down my own progressions, starting with a simple ABAB pattern, I like some SFX at the beginning just to add to the intro and make it unique. I have never put anything I’ve made out there, I don’t know where to start with that, so I don’t have much to offer sadly. You can do whatever you want which is the beautiful part though, what are your goals when it comes to making a beat? Are you trying to produce as well? These are all important questions, I’ve heard the best thing is do as you please. Of course there are formulas, but for the most part you can do as you please as long as you’re satisfied. When you make beats for others though, you have to make something someone can sing/rap on. Find your sound, follow a few rules, get the basics down, and make your own way. That’s the absolute best I can offer as advice, I’m not really qualified to be giving advice. However, that’s my own thoughts on your question and I hope it helps!

Yea, Im trying to sound like Monte Booker. But the chase just make me feel like a failure. But if I just try to make something else I don't feel like I have a direction.
@@aftertheapocalypse7573 oh yea thank you! I've got the vocal chops and granular FX down already. But there is just way more to it than that. Like when I try to remake his sounds I get the fundamentals down, but his just sound much warmer. Also I'm real bad at arranging and by listening to his songs you can tell he has some pretty complex stuff going on. And most of the time he has like multiple instruments having their own rhytm but occasionally overlaying.

I'd just recommend practicing your finger drumming and/or finding free drum breaks (because oftentimes they are sampled drum breaks) Reverb.com has a free pack reverb.com/software/samples-and-loops/reverb/3214-studio-sampled-sounds-hitsville-usa-in-detroit-mi-by-ian-ballard

Why not pick sounds to sound like yourself? Why do people want to folks want to like other people? Be like Outcast. Make You!
@ash1211874 жыл бұрын
I think his point is to understand firstly what sounds are specific to a genre, then experiment after. Like Avicii did- EDM with country music
@V1CCZ3XX4 жыл бұрын
if you want to be a professional you need to respect some rules so the artist is not put off by your weird beats (been there, done that). This being said, nothing stops you from experimenting and releasing experimental music, every once in a while the elements mesh together well and you get a new style or subgenre.
