As a singer, it feels really good hitting those notes, even better when theres a responce from the crowd like that. He knew everyone was looking at him this show and wondering "can he still do it?" That was my first thought when I heard they got back together. It makes sense that this is the first live thing they put out. There are no questions after listening to it.

That's cute. But I always thought it was because of the camera person. Notice right after the song is over he goes over to them and I think says "How are you?" and then does the funny bear hug move, which I can't really tell if he was a little annoyed at them or not. I don't think he was a big fan of cameras pointed at him. I like that about him.

Chris' voice has never stopped evolving. In Superunknown 1994 his mids were outstanding in songs like Mailman and Limo Wreck and he sounded completely different to what he did a few years prior to that in the Ultramega OK days. Fast forward about a decade and his Audioslave voice had a completely different tone about it than the Modern day Chris (post Higher Truth). It's almost like you can tell from what era of Chris' career he's at just by listening to the tonal qualities of his voice.
@withmygoodeyeclosed6 жыл бұрын
You are right about being able to tell from what era a Cornell song/performance is by listening to the tonal quality, glad i'm not the only one geeking over that lol :). My guess is he had to keep adapting his voice to hit the high notes. Every era was great, such amazing contrast of sounds. Whatever he worked up to the Soundgarden reunion, it worked, but yeah, in 2017 he sounded different from 2010 though still able to do the Soundgarden shows, hell he could still sing this song and Slaves And Bulldozers, performances from the last tour are great. I feel like at the end his mid-range was at its strongest point (in a live setting, singing consistently) and his high range topped at around D5 and he was just great all-around. Such a shame, really my all time favorite singer... R.I.P.

I was in Seattle in the early '90's and remember Soundgarden and their fans when we were all hanging out on those porches on the north side. Not everyone liked him, but no one could deny the talent and uniqueness that was in that group (especially him). I was so fking happy that it was a regular late in the set or an encore during the King Animal years. I was shocked and excited when they played it during their Hyde Park set in London 2012. It was the first time I heard it live since the early 90ies. I remember kicking and joy-punching my buddies. I was even more shocked that Chris hit all the notes perfectly. He got so pissed he literally dove off the stage and had it out right there in front. I got an invite to this show, oh how I wish I had been able to go. At first I thought it was spam! "Nudedragons, live at the Showbox", lol. But then I saw it was from Soundgarden World, their fan club. I was poor at the time though, and there was no way I could get to Seattle then. I wish more of this show would get posted, or release the DVD. It's obviously pro shot and mixed.
